The Story Once upon a time, not so long ago, a small pair of dungarees, made of the finest Nicki cloth from Italy, was purchased by the caring and fashion conscious parents of Felicitas Kruse. The trousers were much loved and often worn. The fairy grew up and the trousers were carefully packed away, only to be worn again by the fairy´s own son, Moritz several years later. They were still a fantastic pair of trousers and the fairy wanted more of them. Despite searching high and low, the fairy was unable to find such lovely trousers anywhere. There was only one thing left to do. Overcoming her aversion to handicrafts and needlework in particular, she set to work and made the very first pair of FEE IM GLĂœCK trousers. They were bright red! Following an intensive apprenticeship with an Austrian designer Fee Kruse began to look for a production company that would produce fair, quality clothing. In Hungary close to the Austrian border she found what she was looking for, a factory with people committed to producing lovingly tailored, Eco clothing for little people.

11

Aiming for the best in life the fairy knew she had to find high quality organic Nicki cotton and this she soon found at Lichtschatz in Germany. Now the cotton was organic but to be really Eco-friendly it was time to move the production from Hungary to Austria. All said and done, you can´t get fairer than that!

Noemi Schmutzer – The newest Fairy. Born in Zurich in Switzerland Noemi moved to Austria as part of a management team starting up the worlds largest Private Bank but her passion for creativity kept her constant company. One evening Noemi unpacked her sewing machine, gathered some material and began to sew, night turned to day and Noemi had to run back to work, leaving behind restyled and newly created clothing. That night in Noemis heart a little fairy was born, which luckily she never let rest. Sometime later Noemi and her husband had a little girl, and so again everything changed! 12

After 16 years in the abstract world of finance, Noemi decided it was time to do something more meaningful to her lifestyle now and to follow her heart, to create, to make and to combine it all with environmental awareness. But not everything was so simple! Ideas came and went. It needed the help of a special fairy! And so it was that, one day Noemi met this fairly, one that had been designing ecological clothing, producing them though a fair production manufacturer here in Vienna. The fairy took Noemi by the hand And showed her the most important secrets, taught her the tricks and the magic, all that things she still did not know. With time Noemi became a real fairy, a FEE IM GLÜCK. As these Fairies love to work with other designers and products it was time to find a great location for all the wonderful products and so the FEE IM GLÜCK Concept Store was born. Located in a privileged environment in the province of Cรกceres, the goal was to transform an abandoned stable into a family home by completely renovating it in a way that would be consistent and respectful with the environment.

17

Problems relating to the electricity and water supply were solved through sustainability systems which ABATON uses in all its projects: a solar panel system with storage batteries was developed to supply energy during the summer; turbines were installed taking advantage of the course of the two streams that run through the estate providing electricity for the winter.

“It is more beautiful to breathe new life into them, to make precious everyday objects into new designer pieces. Recycling plays the biggest role. “ 27

Kellerwerk is the work of Sascha Johnnik, his inspiration came from a two year stay in Africa, where he learned two important lessons, firstly that life does not always have to be lived in the fast lane, and secondly that you cannot always buy everything new... repair, rebuild and redesign! If you have old furniture you wish to have revamped, or a specific idea, Herr Johnnik would be more than happy to hear from you. Bunte Serie â‚Ź180 each

IkeaHackers.net A fantastic blog/ website run by “Jules” from Malaysia. “Ikea Hackers is a site about modifications on and repurposing of Ikea products. Hacks, as we call it here, may be as simple as adding an embellishment, some others may require power tools and lots of ingenuity. You may have figured out by now that I don't do all the hacks. This site exists largely due to the kind contribution of IKEA hackers from all over the globe. They submit their creations, with the hope of providing alternative ideas on Ikea products. Hopefully, their hacks will inspire you, perhaps even amuse.” Jules -About page
