am anfang stand die idee eines bootshauses am wörthersee mit kleiner wohneinheit, dachterrasse und eigenem boot. gefunden wurde ein grundstück, das nach mehr verlangte. der wunsch war, marokkanisches lebensgefühl und marokkanische architektur in mitteleuropa umzusetzen. für die umsetzung stand nie ein anderer zur diskussion als reiner schmid. von der geländeveränderung unter erhaltung des alten baumbestandes bis hin zur ausrichtung des wohnhauses fügt sich das neue objekt perfekt in die landschaft ein. sein gefühl für verschränkungen, durchblicke, übergänge bis hin zur einrichtungsarchitektur führt trotz der größe des grundstücks und des hauses zu einer perfektion und genialität. dies spiegelt sich im lebensgefühl und der täglichen geborgenheit wider. in the beginning was the idea of a boathouse on the wörthersee with a small dwelling unit, roof terrace and a boat. what was found was a plot of land that called for more. the idea was to implement a moroccan feeling for life and moroccan architecture in the heart of europe. for the implementation, only reiner schmid was ever considered. from altering the area while keeping the original trees to aligning the dwelling, the new building blends in perfectly with the landscape. the architect’s feel for cross-overs, vistas and transitions ranging to the interior design leads to a perfection verging on the genius, despite the size of the land and the house. this is reflected in a feeling for life and daily comfort. michael pachleitner

die 7000 quadratmeter des grundstückes, lang und zum see hin gleichmäßig leicht fallend und schmaler werdend. eine geländemodellierung mit bepflanztem erdwall als abschottung zur strasse und waagrechter zentraler „arena“, die in eine begrünte überdeckung von garage und spa - bereich des wohnhauses übergeht. ein carport für gäste gleich nach dem einfahrtstor, eine geschwungene zufahrt. das wohnhaus an der schmalsten stelle des grundstückes, erhaben über dem see mit unverbauter aussicht. das bootshaus mit appartement all das in summe der idealfall eines freizeit – und feriendomiziles für familie, freunde und gäste, für entspannung, sport und feste. the 7,000 sq. m. of the plot is aligned longitudinally and slopes slightly and uniformly towards the lake. the area was landscaped using a planted earthwork as a partition to the road and horizontal central “arena” which merges into a green overlay on top of the garage and spa area of the house. there is a carport for guests directly after the entrance gate, and a curved driveway. the house is situated on the narrowest part of the plot, with an exalted unobscured view over the lake. the boathouse with apartment: taken altogether, the ideal leisure-time and holiday home for family, friends and guests, for relaxation, sport and parties.

rechts und unten: blick richtung zufahrt und richtung see alle materialien und farben basieren auf dem kroatischen sandstein, der als polygonalplatte (wandverkleidung), als geschnittene bahn mit geschliffener oberfläche (fußböden, treppen) und als pflasterstein (zufahrt, gästeterassen) eingesetzt wurde. right and below: a view to the driveway and a view to the lake. all materials and colours are based on croatian sandstone which was applied in the form of polygonal sections (wall panelling), as cut strips with ground surface (floor, stairs) and as paving stone (driveway, guest patio).

im erdgeschoss eingang, garage, spabereich mit laconium, sauna, tropenregen aus 6 meter höhe und ruheraum mit whirlpool und vorgelagerter südseitiger terrasse. herz des gebäudes ist die großzügige wohnhalle mit zentraler küche, auf – und abgängen in die appartements, sowie seeseitiger, völlig öffenbarer glasfassade und überdeckter terrasse. im obergeschoss die appartements für die hausherren, deren sohn und ein gästeappartement. im untergeschoss 2 weitere appartements und der weinkeller. eine entspannt sinnliche, durch orientalisch mediterrane zitate bereicherte athmosphäre zu schaffen war die aufgabe für bauherren und architekten. die lösung ist ein zur strasse hin hermetisches und zum see hin völlig offenes bauwerk mit zentraler halle, die bei geöffneter fassade ein aussenraum wird und durch die darübergeschichteten, mit grobem aussenputz versehenen kuben der appartements wie eine medina wirkt und durch die dachverglasungen vom tageslicht in unterschiedlichste grafische muster und stimmungen getaucht wird. in den bädern aller appartements und im spabereich wurden jeweils unterschiedliche, original marokkanische tadelakt – und mosaikarbeiten ausgeführt. möbel sind in warmen naturbelassenen hölzern ausgeführt.

der auf unterschiedlichste arten (bruchrauh als polygonalplatten, in bahnen geschnitten mit geschliffener oberfläche, als pflasterstein) im, am und ums haus eingesetzte kroatische sandstein ist die basis für die übrige farbgestaltung von wandoberflächen und mobiliar.

600 sq. m. split on 3 levels. on the ground floor: entrance, garage, spa area with laconium, sauna, tropical rain from a height of 6m, relaxation room with whirlpool and south-facing patio.
obergeschoss / upper floor
the centre of the building is the generous living hall, flights of stairs to the apartments, as well as lake-side, completely openable glass facade and covered patio. on the upper floor: apartments for the hosts, their son and a guest apartment. in the basement: 2 more apartments and the wine cellar. the task for both builder-owner and architect was to create a relaxed, sensual atmosphere enriched with orientalmediterranean allusions.

the solution is a construction that is hermetically sealed from the road but which is entirely open to the lake. it has a central hall which can be turned into an external space by opening the glass façade. the coarsely rendered cubes of the apartments built on top of it are immersed in sunlight from the roof windows in a variety of graphic patterns and moods and make the building look like a medina. in each of the bathrooms of all the apartments and in the spa area, a variety of original moroccan tadelakt and mosaic work has been carried out. the furniture has been made of warm, natural woods. the croatian sandstone used in, on and all around the house in a variety of ways (coarsely hewn, polygonal, and as paving stones cut in strips with ground surface) goes to form the basis for the remaining colouring of wall surfaces and furniture.
