Tous les matins du monde – French chamber repertoire between 1500 and 1700
Jean-Baptiste Lully
Marin Marais
Francois Couperin
Jean-Philippe Rameau
and others
With his ensembles Hesperiòn XXI and La Capella Reial de Catalunya, Spanish musician Jordi Savall has established himself as a discoverer of ancient music and Mediterranean cultures, bringing them to life through his concerts and recordings. With Le Concert des Nations, Savall dedicates himself to the European repertoire with a renewed approach and a rigorous historical perspective. This concert's French programme revives the atmosphere of Alain Corneau's cult film Tous les Matins du Monde (1991), whose soundtrack introduced the general public to Jordi Savall and the music of Marais, Rameau, Couperin, Lully as well as to the mysterious figure of gambist and composer Sainte-Colombe.
