The Fellowship: Break The Wall U.S. tour

The members of ATEEZ already completed one tour this year, but the K-pop group is set to embark on another world tour toward the end of 2022. On July 17, it was announced that ATEEZ will launch their THE FEL LOWSHIP: BREAK THE WALL tour beginning in October. This will be the band’s second world tour in 2022. In January 2022, ATEEZ kicked off their rescheduled tour, THE FELLOWSHIP: BEGINNING OF THE END in Seoul. The band then traveled to the U.S., Europe, and Japan. ATEEZ’s Japan con certs took place earlier in July and concluded the tour. The tour will kick off in Seoul, South Korea with two shows on October 29 and 30, before heading to Anaheim, California the following week. The boyband will then go on to perform in several US cities, including Dallas, Chicago and New ark, as well as Toronto, Canada, followed by shows in Chiba, Japan.

One fan wrote on Reddit, “Ahhh another tour again?? Our boys are bussssy!! Happy for US/C/J Atinys crossing fingers for the rest of us that they’ll take up more countries after year end award season!!”

ATEEZ’s EP The World Ep. 1: Movement will have seven tracks, and the al bum’s lead single is titled “Guerrilla.”

“I really like how the tour dates are spread out – so many tours have insane schedules where the groups are either performing or traveling every day. This schedule, except for the quick turnaround between Anaheim and Phoenix, has some breathing space built in,” wrote a Reddit user.

“LET’S GOOOOOOOOOOO. Been man ifesting! I do worry for the boys though. They’re so busy hope they’re looking after themselves well,” a fan wrote on Reddit.

On July 29, Hongjoong, Seonghwa, Yun ho, Yeosang, San, Mingi, Wooyoung, and Jongho will release an EP titled The

KQ FELLAZ

Having solidified themselves as one of the quintessen tial fourth generation boy groups, ATEEZ is one of the few popular groups of the latest generation hailing from a smaller company. KQ Entertainment houses Block B, and that is the reason for the formation of ATEEZ, in terestingly enough. The eight finalized members promot ed as KQ Fellaz during their pre-debut, with their first performance video releasing on May 18, 2018. The perfor mance video “KQ Fellaz Per formance Video I” showed the boys dancing to the song “Pick It Up” by Famous Dex, and currently sits at 15 mil lion views. It’s still a popular performance for the group to this day.

For the creation of ATEEZ, you can thank one Kim Hong joong. The future leader sent a letter and mixtape to KQ in

2016 expressing an interest in joining as a trainee. He be came the first official train ee at the company, with Yunho joining him six months later. The rest of the mem bers would join later, with a few coming from different companies,

Web series KQ Fellaz Amer ican Training premiered shortly after the first teaser video with an added ninth trainee, Lee Junyoung. You will see him featured in a pre-debut music video for the single “From,” but he was ultimately not added to the group’s final lineup.

After a second video teas er released in July, the offi cial group name ATEEZ was revealed, along with Mnet show Code Name is Ateez. All this content gave fans the ability to really get to know the members of the group, which built quite a bit of

6

hype surrounding their offi cial debut.

Not even a full three months later in 2019, ATEEZ released their second mini-album TREASURE EP.2: Zero To One with lead title “Say My Name.” The album charted higher at No. 6 on the Gaon Album Chart, No. 5 on the Billboard U.S. World Albums Chart, and a new position on the Heatseek ers Album Chart, debuting at No. 5. A music video for “HALA HALA (Hearts Awak ened, Live Alive)” was re leased a month later, just about two weeks after the announcement of the group’s first world tour. Even though it was only their first comeback, ATEEZ proved to have star power, as their first tour was sold out in all American venues and European venues, with the European dates added

later onto the agenda af ter the success in America. Dates would later be added to Australia as well, which helped to solidify ATEEZ’s reputation of being a very internationally recognized group. During that time, they still had not gotten much recognition in Korea yet.

While active for just under three years, ATEEZ has al ready proven their staying power in the industry with a huge rise even just within the last year. Having been able to walk this journey with ATEEZ has been noth ing short of a wonderful experience, and with time there’s no doubt that they will continue to grow even larger. 2021 has been a mo mentous year for the group, and we can’t wait to see what the future holds for them.

The Fellowship: Beginning

The ManelyKpop team gath ered together to see Ateez live after our concert got delayed for 2 years. for Ateez, their big gest strength is their boundless and infectious energy. Even on the slower songs everybody was standing up and having a blast, and on the fast songs the energy throughout the room was incredibly high. Speaking of their performance, I also want to praise the cha risma of the members. In the speaking parts they all tried to do as much as reasonably pos sible in English in spite of the fact that most of the group ar en’t confident in their English skills. This willingness to just try means a lot to fans, and really

helps keep that charismatic connection that they display in the music. At least in our show, three members were really having a great time and were feeling themselves from start to finish: Hongjoong, Mingi, and San. These three were feeding off of the crowd’s energy, and then sending that right back and getting the audience more excited, and just seemed to put their heart and soul into every song. And, to be clear, I’m not even discrediting the other 5 members, they were ridiculous ly good too, and I wouldn’t be surprised if different members own the stage at different stops along the tour.

Beginning of the end world tour

So, this concert was something special. After years of waiting and going through increasing anxiety, I was finally able to enjoy a live event, and it felt really good. This concert was more than music, but a really amazing reminder of what life can be like, the fun and freedom that we should be aspiring to in a world that feels so dark and lifeless at times. dare to challenge. Alternatively, just see Ateez whenevever you do manage to have a good time to do so, they will be around for a couple more years, so there is going to be more oppor

tunitites in the future. The Fellowship : Beginning of the End is the second world tour held by ATEEZ. It began with a threenight stint at Olympic Hall in Seoul from January 7–9, 2022.

On January 7, 2022, MyMusicTaste announced the postponement of the European shows due to in crease concerns on the Omicron variant and different restrictions imposed by European governments.[8] On March 11, the new

dates were announced with addi tional shows in Madrid, London, and Berlin.

The original title of this tour was supposed to be The Fellowship: Map the Treasure, why change it to The Beginning of the End?

Hongjoong: The Beginning of the End title seems like our situation where we’ve been waiting for this for a long time. In our concert, our opening song is “Wonderland.” The message of the song is similar, which is why we changed the title. That’s our big message with this world tour. The beginning of the end of a long wait.

What is it like to perform for big audiences live again? It’s been a while.

Yunho: We waited for so long to meet our fans, ATINY, on the road. And during the concerts, we really felt the energy of the fans and we were able to give our 100% to them.

Hongjoong: It’s really a different feeling. With an audience of 10,000 fans, it’s our first time to perform in front of so many ATINYs. It’s really some thing else. Though it’s not finished yet, but in the middle of the pandem ic, we performed in front of just cameras. It’s different with energy, be cause in front of cameras we just performed what we planned. In front of fans, ATINYs, we just enjoy the stages.

San: Now that we see people in front of us, actually, it makes a lot of difference. We can translate to the fans all our feelings and our artistry through our music.

What are you most excited to show your global fans this time around?

Wooyoung: During these last two years, we’ve been able to have more fans that have never seen them in person and through this concert we want to show them who ATEEZ is. To see them through videos and to see them in person is another feeling, another experience that we want the fans to witness, and then get into what is ATEEZ even more.

Ateez talks about what it is like to be in tour, meeting fans, their group dynamic and more.
18

Hongjoong: And during the two years, we released lots of albums. We have many new songs and we have many new performances. So that’s the most exciting things to ATI NYs.

And what about new listeners who aren’t necessarily ATINY yet? What do you want them to know about ATEEZ?

Yunho: We want to show other people watching our relationship with our fans. How we connect with them, and how ATINYs are important to us. And by seeing that, they will understand and tune in.

How has your music changed over the years and grown?

San: We’ve tried more genres and showed different colors of ATEEZ. We also worked hard

Hongjoong: Our singing ability has grown a lot. The messages are also bigger than before because we have album series and a core story. We just released the Treasure series, we’re already done with the Fever series, too. So we can include many more messages than when we first debuted.

Has your dynamic as a group changed over the years, too?

Yeosang: Since we’ve been working together and living together, we’ve gotten way closer and understand each other, to know how to make compromises, and to work well as a team.

San: Like family.
