FADE IN: EXT. OUTER SPACE MOVING though the dark depths of space. The star field around shine like diamonds apart.

On our way there is a small MOON, similar to the one we have on Earth.

Soaring over the surface of that moon, we emerge on the other side revealing in the distance: THE PLANET VEGETA. However, there is an intense commotion near the orbit of the planet - SPACESHIPS. Hundreds of them.

EXT. PLANET VEGETA - OUTER SPACE It’s a bold red planet with orange shades, twisting in front of an enormous yellow sun.

And a WAR rages before our eyes.

The GALACTIC FRIEZA ARMY - made up of different alien races fights in a life-and-death battle against the SAIYAN ARMY inhabitants of the Planet Vegeta.

Instead of high-tech weapons, the warriors fire ENERGY BLASTS from their hands. This is the KI - the life-force within every living being, which can be channeled into attacks of energy.

Combat spacecrafts of both factions form a tangle of plasma shots that hit each other, exploding the crafts into chunks across the space.

So far, the tide of war is on the side of the Saiyans.

EXT. VEGETA CITY - DAY An alien-like futuristic city. Buildings that rise to the heavens like mirrored monoliths.

But the war spread here as well. The glorious landscape is stained by smoke towers in various parts of the capital.

INT. WAR ROOM - DAY It’s a panic in here, the bustling command center of their military.

A dozen of TECHNICIANS and LIEUTENANTS talk over each other, manning their stations.

Holographic monitors show that damage is being done; complex symbols and diagrams indicating just how much process the enemy is making.

A monitor beeps an ALERT. Sir!

TECHNICIAN

One of the lieutenants approaches.

Report.

LIEUTENANT

TECHNICIAN The radars are detecting an incoming energy signature. And it is not ours.

The Lieutenant checks the monitor. It’s not a good thing.

LIEUTENANT He’s coming. Warn the King.

EXT. OUTER SPACE The war continues, but with the Saiyans winning. Suddenly, that feeling of victory is broken by... ... a flickering burst of light, a rip in space.

Out of the fissure, FRIEZA’S SPACESHIP appears swarmed by more combat spacecrafts and warriors.

It’s a huge circular, ominous ship that just hovers in the silent space.

Several Saiyan soldiers gaze at Frieza’s ship, and we see the FEAR in their eyes.

EXT. KING VEGETA’S PALACE - DAY The palace rises countless stories tall, gleaming with an other-worldly majesty, towering high above the Realm sprawled out before it.

INT. THRONE ROOM - KING VEGETA’S PALACE - DAY The interior is impressive as the exterior. A large space with banners printed with the royalty logo. Floor and walls clean and gleaming as a mirror.

We can still hear the echoes of the war going on outside.

Somebody opens the heavy doors: NAPPA. The high-class warrior of the Saiyans strides through the hall.

Nappa gets down on one knee, he leans his clenched fist over his chest as a sign of respect.

My lord.

NAPPA

REVERSE ANGLE REVEALS to us KING VEGETA. Eyes closed in a deep meditation, standing before the statue of a legendary warrior, which has its arms stretched out supporting a SWORD. After hearing Nappa’s voice, he opens his eyes, interrupting his moment of concentration.

Tell me.

KING VEGETA

NAPPA Our troops in the east were decimated by Frieza’s soldiers.

The situation is not different in the north.

KING VEGETA Any survivors?

No.

NAPPA

It was what Vegeta feared. He steps closer to the statue and withdraws the sword with grace, as if it were something sacred.

KING VEGETA My son... you got the information about his location?

NAPPA He’s on Planet Frieza 448 completing the training, sir. I’m afraid our current situation has not come to him yet.

King Vegeta turns to Nappa, but still staring at the blade in his hands.

KING VEGETA Good. I want you to be there too with him, Nappa.

Nappa is taken aback.

What?

NAPPA

KING VEGETA Leave this planet and join my son.

NAPPA But Sir... I don’t understand...

Vegeta approaches Nappa.

KING VEGETA There’s no use in committing ourselves, Nappa. We both know the outcome of this war.

He lies his hand on Nappa’s shoulder.

KING VEGETA (CONT’D) You are my most reliable general.

The only one who would trust my son’s life... which is what I’m doing now.

Nappa feels the king’s responsibility over him.

NAPPA What do you plan to do?

KING VEGETA I was warned that maybe Frieza is already there. I will command an ultimate assault upon on him, even if I die.

NAPPA Let me go with you! Maybe we still have chances of...

KING VEGETA (cuts in) No. Your current mission is more important. My son is very young and he needs someone to guide him as far as he should go.

Even uncertain of it, Nappa accepts the task.

NAPPA As you wish, my King.

EXT. MED CENTER - DAY A towering building located in the downtown.

INT. NURSERY - MED CENTER - DAY CLOSE ON A BABY, inside the crib crying loudly, almost like a scream. He’s agitated, unquiet.

At the head of the crib, there is a name - KAKAROT. WE PULL BACK, THROUGH A DOOR WINDOW, INTO: INT. LAB - MED CENTER - DAY Where is BARDOCK, staring out the window, at the baby.

One of the great Saiyan warriors. His body and armor are with fresh marks of war. It was not long since he left it.

A BIO-ENGINEER joins Bardock with a tablet in his hands.

BIO-ENGINEER (re: the baby) Despite his low fighting power, he cries with great strength.

BARDOCK It is not with tears that a war is won.

The engineer notices Bardock’s injuries. He’s still bleeding.

BIO-ENGINEER Are you still planning to go back there? You’re very injured, Bardock.

BARDOCK Frieza will not have the good sense to wait for me to regain my strength. I need to get it over with. (beat) Where are you going to send him?

BIO-ENGINEER Well, we found a suitable planet for him... (checks the tablet) Earth. There we didn’t detect any beings with a high power level.

Bardock nods and walks toward the exit.

BIO-ENGINEER (CONT’D) Wait, Bardock! If you walk out that door, you will die. Take that chance and run with your son.

Bardock stops.

BARDOCK No. Frieza betrayed our loyalty and trust. Killed my team... my family. (beat) I’ll do the same to him.

Then he heads off.

EXT. SKIES ABOVE VEGETA CITY - DAY The KING’S IMPERIAL SHIP ROARS into the frame through the red clouds, SOARING up into the sky.

INT. BRIDGE - IMPERIAL SHIP - DAY The bridge crew are in their stations, manning the flight decks. King Vegeta sits on his command chair, determinate.

EXT. OUTER SPACE The King’s ship exits the planet. It makes its way as its TURRETS fire at the enemies which try to get close.

The other Saiyan warriors help to break through.

The Imperial ship moves forward unbeatable. PAN WITH IT 180 TO REVEAL - Frieza’s Spaceship in the distance.

INT. BRIDGE - FRIEZA’S SPACESHIP A spacious environment with a huge oval glass panel that gives us a wide view of the exterior.

It’s dark, only lit with brightness coming from the monitors of the bridge stations.

Standing in the center are two individuals: ZARBON and DODORIA. Two high-ranking Generals.

They both notice the Saiyan ship coming.

ZARBON That ship belongs to Vegeta. I did not imagine he would be so dumb to come to us without further reinforcements.

DODORIA Do you want me to destroy it, sir?

VOICE (O.S.) No, let him come to me.

Zarbon and Dodoria turn to a FIGURE hidden in the shadows.

The dimmed lights around him make it impossible to make out any detail.

SHADOWY FIGURE Let’s give false hope to him.

INT. CORRIDOR - FRIEZA’S SPACESHIP LOCKED-OFF REVERSE ANGLE on a Frieza’s men position.

Three Frieza soldiers - with their backs to us - firing in the hallway ahead of them.

And suddenly a hail of rounds are coming our way -

- ripping through the soldiers, dropping and shredding them.

King Vegeta comes toward us, wielding his sword - dirty with enemy blood - followed by a group of Saiyan soldiers.

As they move on, more of Frieza’s soldiers surge from another corner, firing Ki blasts from their hands.

King Vegeta quickly opens his palm creating a FORCE FIELD that protects him and his men from the enemy attack.

With a wave, King Vegeta makes his force field EXPLODES OUTWARD in an ARC OF LIGHT that knocks down Frieza’s men.

But that just stuns them.

The Saiyan King seizes the moment and ATTACKS, demonstrating his sword skills against those warriors.

He swings that deadly blade slicing his enemies, smearing alien blood on the walls and ceiling. Meanwhile, the other Saiyans take down the remaining ones.

In a matter of seconds the corridor is filled with corpses of Frieza’s soldiers.

KING VEGETA Let’s move.

King Vegeta leads his men through the hallways of the ship.

One of the Saiyans turns to his companion in the group: SAIYAN SOLDIER Did you feel that Ki? As they turn into a corner... ... BOOM! The door at the end of the corridor BLOWS UP covering the portal in a cloud of dust.

Vegeta and his warriors take battle position.

Get ready!

KING VEGETA

Inside the smoke, three SILHOUETTES approach. By Vegeta’s expression, he already knows who it is.

And from the dust materializes FRIEZA, THE EMPEROR - flanked

by Zarbon and Dodoria. This is the first time we see him clearly.

A creature the size of a child, but with a demonic feature and black horns on each side of the head, with a sadistic smile on his face. He’s always sitting in his hover-chair.

Vegeta’s men can not hide their fear of Frieza. But the King keeps his pose.

Frieza.

KING VEGETA (CONT’D)

FRIEZA I heard you’re looking for me.

EXT. SKIES ABOVE VEGETA CITY - DAY Bardock fights bravely with some Frieza’s men above the town.

None seems to match him.

But one of Frieza’s soldiers grabs him from behind, CHOKING him. Meanwhile, another takes the opportunity to PUMMEL Bardock’s abdomen.

Bardock spins making the second soldier to hit the one who holds him, consequently releasing him.

In that same instant, the Saiyan shoots a Ki blast that RIPS through the chest of the two men at the same time.

As both Frieza’s soldiers drop, Bardock BULLETS into the atmosphere. Along the way, he wears the breathing apparatus on his face.

INT. CORRIDOR - FRIEZA’S SPACESHIP Frieza and King Vegeta stare at each other.

KING VEGETA Did you really think I would sit idly watching you butchering my people?

FRIEZA No, I would be extremely disappointed. It would be far more gratifying to kill the King of the Saiyans in front of his men.

KING VEGETA Just tell me why, before I kill you at once.

FRIEZA Easy. Nothing is more rewarding than seeing a planet being consumed by destruction.

What?!

Dodoria.

KING VEGETA FRIEZA

In a quick move, Dodoria points his five fingers to the Saiyans - and each finger fires a thin LASER BEAM in a blink of an eye.

These five lines hit the chest of all King Vegeta’s men, piercing their bodies like paper.

Seconds later, all those Saiyan warriors COLLAPSE to the ground - DEAD. King Vegeta is the only one standing among those corpses.

With fire in his eyes, Vegeta CHARGES Frieza for a deadly attack. Zarbon prepares to intervene, but Frieza SIGNALS to him to stay.

King Vegeta raises his sword and drives it down, straight to Frieza’s head. But... ... Frieza GRABS the blade with a single hand, just inches from his face. He gives Vegeta a quick smile.

TIGHT ON King Vegeta, all his hopes were gone. Then - a FLASH of purple light followed by the sound of something ripping.

Vegeta staggers back, stunned. We don’t know what happened.

He just drops his sword and walks away from Frieza.

As he back off we realize: Vegeta has a deep wound in his belly. And Frieza’s index finger is smoking.

Vegeta loses his balance and falls on the floor, propped up against the wall, covering his wound with his hand. Frieza floats his chair up to him.

FRIEZA (CONT’D) How do you feel knowing that your proud race is being trampled like a simple insect?

KING VEGETA (weak) I see you in hell.

Using his forces, Vegeta spits his own blood on Frieza’s face. That’s enough to make Frieza lose his temper.

From inside the hover-chair comes Frieza’s TAIL - with a sharp pointed end - he STABS Vegeta’s chest with it ending his suffering.

After the King gives his last breath, the tail goes back into the chair.

Zarbon walks up to Frieza. His SCOUTER - an eye device that records power levels - is beeping.

ZARBON My lord, I detected a Saiyan approaching.

FRIEZA So what? They are all doomed in the same way!

ZARBON His power level is increasing more and more. It’s reaching beyond standards.

DODORIA Mine also detected the same thing.

Off Frieza’s stare, making a decision...

EXT. PLANET VEGETA - OUTER SPACE The only surviving Saiyan in space fights alone Frieza’s army: Bardock.

As he knocks out ten opponents, another twenty appear next.

But Bardock does not give up easily.

He tries to ignore the soldiers around and flies toward Frieza’s ship. But in the middle of the way, a crowd of soldiers pile upon Bardock and hold him before he reaches his goal.

Four Frieza’s soldiers hold Bardock’s legs and arms while others make him a punching bag, BATTERING his body mercilessly.

They just stop that torture when they note Frieza himself emerging slowly from his ship.

He motions for his soldiers to leave Bardock. Bardock hangs in space, beaten, and tilts his head up to face Frieza.

For a moment they look eye to eye, but both are separated by some feet away.

Frieza raises his hand with his index finger pointed up. The soldiers already know what to come, so they begin to disperse. Bardock stays in the same place.

CLOSE IN on Frieza’s index finger. A tiny and bright PINPOINT appears at his fingertip, the size of a marble.

Meanwhile, Bardock opens his right hand and begins to charge up his Ki forming a sphere of light.

He generates a ball of energy the size of a basketball, with sparks wrapping it. And... ... he THROWS it toward Frieza.

Frieza just stares at Bardock’s attack coming on his way, not at all intimidated. On the contrary, he’s smiling.

Then - that little point on Frieza’s finger GROWS monstrously becoming a MINI SUPERNOVA - larger than its own ship.

And he sends it for Bardock.

Bardock’s energy ball is practically swallowed by the supernova without causing any effect. Frieza’s yellow sphere moves down toward the planet.

All Frieza’s soldiers flee for their lives. The Emperor returns to his ship.

INT. BRIDGE - FRIEZA’S SPACESHIP Zarbon, Dodoria and the bridge crew watch the great sphere of energy moving to the planet.

Frieza comes in.

It’s done.

FRIEZA

EXT. PLANET VEGETA - OUTER SPACE Frieza and his army enter the SLIP-SPACE and disappear from there in the blink of an eye.

Bardock closes his eyes, accepting his fate as Frieza’s supernova glides in his direction.

FROM BEHIND BARDOCK

Completely given up. He’s SILHOUETTED against the supernova intense bright.

As it approaches the screen CUT TO: EXT. OUTER SPACE Miles away. So distant that Planet Vegeta is a mere sphere in the darkness of space. Frieza’s supernova falls toward the planet like a miniature of the sun.

It’s all quiet.

When the supernova finally touches the surface of Planet Vegeta, it EXPLODES in a chain of explosions that turns into a blinding detonation blast.

Against this intense luminosity, a small OBJECT darts us at high speed.

It’s a Saiyan SPACE POD - a round spacecraft that supports only one passenger.

We do not have time to see who is inside it. The ball ROCKETS away disappearing into the depths of space.

EXT. MOUNT PAOZU - MORNING The sun rises over Mount Paozu. A paradisaical view of a perfect mountain.

EXT. GOHAN’S COTTAGE - MORNING A quaint little farmhouse on the side of the mountain. There is a large field of crops. And a stone courtyard surrounded by beautifully trimmed bonsai trees.

GRANDPA GOHAN. 80’s. A humble old man, charismatic, wise eyes. Arrives at his cottage carrying his food in a homemade backpack.

INT. KITCHEN - GOHAN’S COTTAGE - LATER Gohan finishes preparing his tea. Then he sits at his small table and starts drinking.

HOLD on this one shot; it’s so simple, mundane. A routine moment in his life.

As Gohan drinks his last gulp in tea - a twisted WHINE SCREAM suddenly gets crazy loud - and the whole cottage TREMBLES as if in an earthquake.

Gohan holds firmly at his table. Some objects in the kitchen drop to the floor. But when he glances out the window - he witnesses a METEOR falling into the woods.

Moments later, we hear the crash sound. It was hard, but not too far. Gohan pauses for a moment to process what he has just seen.

EXT. WOODS - DAY FOLLOWING Gohan as he courses through the woods.

He passes over a HAVOC caused by the meteor. Several trees demolished, the ground was marked by a long scar across the earth.

EXT. CRASH SITE - WOODS - DAY Moments later, Gohan comes through the foliage. His eyes never saw anything like that.

GRANDPA GOHAN Dear Lord...

WIDER TO REVEAL Gohan stands on the verge of a vast and deep CRATER made by the SAIYAN SPACE POD crash-landing.

Smoke rises. Dirt everywhere. Each tree or foliage in the radius of impact was obliterated.

Gohan makes a decision and approaches the pod, carefully descending into the crater.

When Gohan comes close to the thing, he takes a moment to know what it’s all about. Then he spots a small window that gives access to the interior of the pod.

As he tries to approach the window, the pod’s hatch OPENS with a hiss. Gohan STARTLES and retreats, but watching it.

After opening completely, no one leaves inside. It seems to be empty. A steam covers part of the entrance of the pod.

That’s when Gohan hears a BABY CRY.

That catches his attention. His fear is replaced by curiosity. Gohan approaches the pod again, and when the vapor settles, it reveals... ... the NINE MONTH-OLD KAKAROT. Crying and shaken as we see him the first time. Gohan’s in absolute shock.

Almost by instinct, Gohan takes the baby in his arms and pulls him out of the pod. He tries to calm the child.

GRANDPA GOHAN (CONT’D) (nicely) Calm down, buddy, it’s gonna be okay.

Gohan looks around, there are only they two there.

GRANDPA GOHAN (CONT’D) You seem to have come from far away.

Gradually, Kakarot slows down his crying. Gohan looks at him, not afraid, but lovingly.

GRANDPA GOHAN (CONT’D) You do not look like those ugly aliens that TV shows to us. (beat) Now, what do I call you?

CLOSE ON KAKAROT’S FACE, as he stares at Grandpa Gohan. Then, all we HEAR now is: FEMALE VOICE (pre-lap) Goku!

SMASH CUT TO: A MAN’S FACE Filling the screen. Eyes closed. He seems to be in a deep sleep until...

FEMALE VOICE (CONT’D) Goku, wake up!

A female and authoritative voice awakens him with a fright.

We WIDEN to reveal we’re in...

INT. BEDROOM - GOKU AND CHI-CHI’S HOME - DAY A master bedroom where GOKU has just woken up. The baby who is now in early 30. Athletic body, strong and enthusiastic.

He falls off the bed staring CHI-CHI at the doorway, Goku’s wife. Purple dress, black hair and an angry menacing face.

GOKU Chi-Chi, I was... well... I...

CHI-CHI Sleeping, I saw. That’s all you know how to do.

GOKU (rising) That’s not true! I... (tries to remember) ... got that fish for dinner, once.

Chi-Chi rolls her eyes, typical. She just turns around and walks out.

CHI-CHI I always have to do everything in this house. Everything!

Goku moves to the night-stand where his shirt lies. As he wears it, a child enters the room running.

Meet - GOHAN, Goku’s ten-years-old son. Goku lifts him in his arms.

GOKU Hey big boy, what’s up?

GOHAN (excited) I was looking for a lizard, the way you taught me. But then I lost sight of it in the middle of the road, so I began to look under the stones until I found its burrow! I tried to get it, but it almost bit me. So -CHI-CHI (O.S.) Gohan! Have you finished your homework? The river is not that far away for you to take so long.

Gohan freezes immediately, clearly he did not. And Goku notes that.

GOKU Let’s make this great adventure our little secret, right?

Gohan nods, relieved.

Okay.

GOHAN

GOKU I’ll keep her busy while you finish your homework.

INT. KITCHEN - GOKU AND CHI-CHI’S HOME - DAY Later that day, Goku, Gohan and Chi-Chi have lunch together at the table.

CHI-CHI Goku, I looked at the paper again.

It looks like they have a good job offer in the Capital. You should try.

GOKU Again? I was already accepted in that quarry, Chi-Chi. Did not I tell you?

Chi-Chi shoots him a look. Seriously?

CHI-CHI You remember what happened in that job, do not you?

As Goku thinks about it FLASHCUT: We’re in a QUARRY and Goku is wearing quarry worker’s clothing. He easily lifts a one-ton ROCK with one hand, as if it was weightless.

He picks up a coin and when drops the rock, reveal all the WORKERS staring at him in SHOCK. Goku turns to them, waving innocently.

GOKU I found it!

PRESENT: Goku finally remembers.

19.

GOKU (CONT’D) I was fired? They did not warn me about this!

CHI-CHI Because they were afraid of you, try to be more discreet.

GOKU Oh. All right.

Goku returns to eat normally. Gohan just watches everything.

CHI-CHI So, I was thinking of scheduling a meeting with someone responsible for these jobs, and maybe...

Suddenly, Goku gets on alert. He’s thinking in a way to interrupt Chi-Chi. CHI-CHI (CONT’D) ... we can go today. The faster we solve this, the better, right?

No.

GOKU (rapidly)

Chi-Chi and Gohan stare at him, confused. Goku realizes that he spoke without thinking.

CHI-CHI What did you say?

I... I...

GOKU

Goku wants an excuse as soon as possible, but nothing comes to his mind. Then his eyes match Gohan’s. Finally, an idea.

GOKU (CONT’D) Gohan wants to visit Kame House again. (a nervous laugh) You know how much he likes that place, right Gohan?

Chi-Chi’s threatening eyes turn to Gohan, waiting for an answer. The kid looks at Goku, who practically is begging silently for him to confirm.

20.

GOHAN Yeah... I really want to go to...

Kame House today... right?

Goku nods. The tense moment ends for him.

GOHAN (CONT’D) Can I go, mommy?

They wait. (beat) Of course.

CHI-CHI

Goku and Gohan celebrate with a high five.

CHI-CHI (CONT’D) But when you get back, we’ll get you a job, Goku. Understood?

GOKU Of course, you’re the boss. Gohan, go pack your stuff.

Gohan leaves the table excited.

EXT. GOKU AND CHI-CHI’S HOME - MOMENTS LATER A humble house located in the countryside, near the river, surrounded only by nature.

Goku is wearing his classic orange and blue suit, stretching and exercising in front of his house.

GOKU Come on, Gohan! We do not have all day.

GOHAN (O.S.) I’m coming!

Gohan rushes through the door dressed for the trip, carrying a schoolbag with him. Chi-Chi follows his trail.

CHI-CHI -- And after snacking, take twenty minutes to study a little. And before you play too.

Okay, mom.

GOHAN

Gohan practically ignores his mother and goes to Goku.

GOKU Are you ready?

Yes!

GOHAN

Goku lifts Gohan and puts him sitting on his shoulders. Then Chi-Chi remembers something important.

CHI-CHI Oh no -- the science book. Gohan, wait!

Chi-Chi runs back inside the house. The other two did not even notice. Gohan holds firmly in his father’s hair.

GOKU Without falling off this time, okay?

Gohan nods. Goku flexes his knees and looks up.

CHI-CHI Gohan! You forgot your book of -As Chi-Chi steps out the house... ... WHOOSH! GOKU BLASTS INTO THE SKY blowing a cloud of dust that covers Chi-Chi entirely.

CHI-CHI (CONT’D) (completing) -- science.

EXT. SKY - DAY At the height of the clouds, Goku flies at incredible speed with his son on his back, enjoying the whole ride.

Faster?

Faster!

GOKU GOHAN

Gohan grabs firmly on his father. Goku BOOSTS his speed, vanishing from our sight.

EXT. TURTLE ISLAND - AERIAL - DAY Miles below there is a small island that shelters a simple country residence - THE KAME HOUSE. It is a very typical, mid-western looking house. On the side of it is painted “KAME HOUSE”.

Goku and Gohan dive past us toward the place.

EXT. KAME HOUSE - DAY Goku lands gently and takes Gohan off his shoulders. His hair is upright due to the wind during the flight.

GOKU Chi-Chi would go crazy if she saw the speed we were.

VOICE (O.S.) I knew I recognized this Ki! From inside the house comes out KRILLIN - short, bald, muscular and Goku’s best friend.

He runs happily and embraces Goku.

KRILLIN I did not know you were coming here. Why did not warn us?

GOKU Well... let’s say even we did not know.

KRILLIN (realizes) Chi-Chi. Goku just nods. Then Krillin goes to Gohan.

KRILLIN (CONT’D) Hey, Gohan! Come here!

Krillin and Gohan also hug. They already seem to be great friends. The three head toward the house.

KRILLIN (CONT’D) You better hurry or the Master will eat the whole cake that Bulma brought.

BULMA Pretty sure.

Anchored at the door is BULMA BRIEFS - a beautiful young scientific genius with attitude to spare.

BULMA (CONT’D) And your craze of arriving in places without warning continues.

Goku shrugs. Gohan immediately runs to Bulma and leaps into her arms.

BULMA (CONT’D) What does your mother give you to eat? You’re strong, boy! Almost like your father.

GOHAN I already beat him in a fight.

Really?

BULMA

GOKU It’s totally true.

KRILLIN Hey, Master! See who is here!

Moments later, they hear the voice of a grumbling old man approaching.

OLD MAN VOICE (O.S.) No one else can go in peace to the bathroom nowadays!

MASTER ROSHI appears to us - with a thick white Fu Manchu mustache and beard, wearing his trademark sunglasses.

Then he realizes Goku and his son there.

Hi Master.

GOKU

MASTER ROSHI Goku! What a surprise.

They hug. Then turns to Gohan.

MASTER ROSHI (CONT’D) What about you, Gotan? Already grown so much, I feel even older than normal.

GOHAN It’s Goh -MASTER ROSHI (cutting in) Enough of this annoying chat of compliments. Come on, get in.

Bulma takes Gohan’s hand.

BULMA Do not care with him. Luckily, I managed to save a piece of cake.

As they enter the house CUT TO: INT. LIVING ROOM - KAME HOUSE - LATER All of them are gathered in the room. Dirty dishes of food adorn the place.

Gohan and Krillin are in a tense card game at the coffee table while the others watch. Master Roshi is behind Krillin, very close to his neck.

MASTER ROSHI (whispers) Let go of that card.

Krillin begins to pull one of his hand.

MASTER ROSHI (CONT’D) No! Not this one, you dumb!

KRILLIN But that’s what you told me to do!

MASTER ROSHI Of course not!

Gohan puts his cards on the table, revealing a good set.

GOHAN I think I win.

Krillin stares, incredulous. Bulma starts to laugh hard.

BULMA You lost to a ten-year-old, Krillin. Again!

MASTER ROSHI I told you to not do that.

Shut up!

KRILLIN

The three begin to argue and giggle at the same time while Goku gazes them away, grinning.

EXT. KAME HOUSE - DAY Goku exits the house alone, walking to the shore of the sea.

He stares at the infinite horizon of the ocean.

PUSHING IN ON GOKU as he starts to remember, with a nostalgic smile on his face. Goku’s memory takes us to...

FLASHBACK In the same place, on the same beach, but years ago where TWO BOYS fight bravely in the sand - YOUNG GOKU AND YOUNG KRILLIN. Both eight-years-old.

Each one uses his martial techniques, but Krillin is more skillful than Goku at that time. He knocks him down easily.

Goku falls face-first into the sand. Krillin stands on him, victorious.

YOUNG KRILLIN Haha! I won this time! You’ll wash the dishes while I get the TV. But the young Goku doesn’t give up and splashes sand in Krillin’s eyes. Then he gets up again and knocks down his friend, changing the game.

YOUNG KRILLIN (CONT’D) Hey! That’s not fair! (calling out) Master!

Goku continues to beat Krillin, playfully.

BACK TO PRESENT Bulma joins Goku standing by his side.

BULMA I still remember when we were two crazy young adventurers in search of the mystical Dragon Balls. God, as time goes by fast.

GOKU I bet your parents went crazy when you came back after months without telling.

BULMA Nah. They were never like that... unfortunately. But you know, that was the best thing I’ve ever done in my life. For the first time I felt totally free, you know?

GOKU Yeah. I know how you feel.

A beat.

BULMA Let’s go back. The Master is about to tell his story in the Martial Arts Tournament again.

GOKU All right, but I’m in the armchair, where it’s harder to hear him.

BULMA What? No way!

Goku runs into the house as Bulma chases him.

EXT. PLANET NAMEK - OUTER SPACE The giant planet eclipses the sun.

Different from Planet Vegeta, this one is covered by the green and blue, similar to Earth.

EXT. NAMEK VILLAGE - DAY Here it’s where the NAMEKIANS live. A green-skinned humanoid race, bat-like ears and a pair of antennae on the forehead.

All the villagers are out of their houses resting on their knees, hands on their heads. Frieza’s army dominated that whole place and oversee the Namekians.

However, there are two CORPSES on top of each other. They were killed right there a short time.

Zarbon and Dodoria coordinate the whole operation.

Floating in his hover-chair, Frieza approaches. The Namekians avoid facing him. Mothers embrace their children to protect them.

Frieza’s cold eyes scan over the Namekians for a few seconds, silently.

FRIEZA Well, I’ve heard that some people here are struggling to co-operate with my team. And I bet you all know how much I hate being bothered by insects. (beat) So, who is willing to speak what I want to hear?

Silence.

Frieza is losing his patience.

FRIEZA (CONT’D) All right, you want to test my patience? Let’s go.

He stretches his arm and using his TELEKINESIS, Frieza PULLS a Namekian CHILD from his mother’s arms straight into his hand.

The Namekian mother cries as Frieza squeezes her son’s tiny neck, STRANGLING him.

NAMEKIAN MOTHER Please, stop!

FRIEZA The Dragon Balls, where are they?!

ANGLE ON: NAIL, one of the Namekians kneeling with others.

But his shape is different from the rest, he’s a warrior, and he cannot bear to see that scene anymore.

Enough!

NAIL

Acting only by rage, Nail DASHES toward Frieza for a deadly attack.

But on the way, Dodoria ELBOWS Nail’s back knocking him down.

Nail skids through the ground, plowing up the earth. He stops a few feet from Frieza.

Even wounded, Nail tries to get up, but Zarbon steps on his head keeping him right there.

Don’t.

ZARBON

FRIEZA Well, well, we have the hero of the day here. This is going to be more interesting. Who am I going to kill now: the failed hero or the helpless child?

The tip of Frieza’s index finger begins to emit a small purple glow.

FRIEZA (CONT’D) The time is running.

He points to Nail. Frieza is about to kill him when... ... an ELDER Namekian refuses to kneel and stands. All eyes turn on him. This is the GRAND ELDER GURU. The eldest of the Namekians.

GRAND ELDER Stop right now.

NAIL No! Don’t do this!

FRIEZA What? Do you want to change places with him?

GRAND ELDER I am the one you seek. I am the guardian of the Dragon Balls.

Frieza’s expression changes. He tosses the child on the ground, his mother runs to catch him.

FRIEZA Take a step forward.

The Grand Elder takes a step ahead of his people. Frieza floats up to him, face to face with the Namekian.

FRIEZA (CONT’D) You are a good guardian of the orbs but terrible to protect your own people.

GRAND ELDER My duty is to protect the Dragon Balls from beings like you, regardless of what might happen to my people.

FRIEZA For your information, there are not beings like me. And apparently you’re breaking your own rules.

GRAND ELDER The Namekians have suffered too much because of these spheres. We are not warriors. I cannot take blood in my hands anymore.

FRIEZA Good. Give me the spheres and I leave your tedious planet without another death. (extends his hand) Deal?

Frieza gives his sarcastic smile. But the Grand Elder remains with his cold expression. He looks at Frieza’s hand and then into his eyes.

GRAND ELDER The spheres are not here.

In a snap, Frieza’s smile disappears from his face.

FRIEZA What? What did you say?

GRAND ELDER I banished them a long time to another system. Another planet.

We can see Frieza’s anger implode in him. In a quick move, he PUNCHES the Grand Elder’s face knocking him in the ground.

The Namekians react. The old man spits his own blood on the ground.

FRIEZA Do you think you can fool me?!

Make me waste my time on this crap (MORE)

FRIEZA (CONT’D) world? I am Frieza, the Emperor of this universe!

Frieza aims his index finger at the villagers and FIRES his laser beam, KILLING randomly who is there.

Even his army did not expect that. The Grand Elder looks at that horrified.

GRAND ELDER Please -- Stop! Stop this, I will tell you!

But the Emperor continues.

GRAND ELDER It’s on Earth! The Dragon Balls are on a planet called Earth!

Please, just stop it.

After that, Frieza stops his slaughter, with his fingertip smoking.

GRAND ELDER (CONT’D) (almost crying) Please... just stop.

FRIEZA Now you understand me, right?

The Grand Elder shakes his head. Frieza leans closer to him.

FRIEZA (CONT’D) Lie to me and I will come back here and kill each of your people one by one in front of you until you become the only living being of your race.

Frieza spins around with his chair and starts to move away.

FRIEZA (CONT’D) Let’s go. We already have what we wanted.

The whole army in the village begins to leave, following their leader.

After Zarbon draws his foot off Nail, he stands on his knees viewing that sea of dead in front of him. His brothers.

Dodoria walks up to Frieza.

FRIEZA (CONT’D) Call the Sabres Team. I’ll need them.

Yes, sir.

DODORIA

WIDE ON: We have a better scope of the damage that Frieza did - dozens of corpses scattered by the village among the livings. A sad view.

EXT. PLANET FRIEZA 79 - OUTER SPACE A planet that was dominated by Frieza. Now it serves as one of the Galactic Army’s bases of operations.

INT. HEALING LAB - DUSK A dark, dirty lab with wires and cables tangling on the walls and ceiling. A Matrix-esque place.

Two ALIEN FIGURES with bizarre shapes, completely different from a humanoid, work on holographic monitors at their consoles.

But it’s in the back of the room that we find the MEDICAL MACHINE - like a cryo-storage chamber, but larger and more complex than one.

And looking more closely through the glass we note a MAN inside it - wrapped all over his body with tubes, wires and an oxygen mask. Eyes closed. He floats inside the chamber fluid.

The lab’s door slides open. A very familiar face to us enters - NAPPA, wearing his outworn Saiyan armor.

He stops right in front of the medical machine.

Open it.

NAPPA

The two alien scientists obey and type something on the computer. Immediately, the fluid inside the machine begins to flow slowly.

When it’s completely dry, the chamber opens. The man inside drops on one knee. He waits for a moment to recompose himself.

His only cloth is a black underwear. The tubes remain connected to his body, as the oxygen mask covering his face.

NAPPA (CONT’D) You look awful. Should stop being so reckless when we go out on missions.

MAN Skip the sermon time and say what’s important.

As the man removes the tubes from his body, we see his battle SCARS - some old, some more recent. But he certainly suffered a lot over the years.

NAPPA We were summoned by the boss himself. He says it’s something important, and need us to make sure this job.

What job?

MAN

NAPPA He didn’t specify it, but rumors say he finally found the mystic orbs.

The man reacts with interest. It was something he wanted to hear.

MAN Hm. It seems that this fairy tale...

Lastly, he removes the oxygen mask revealing his face completely: VEGETA, THE PRINCE OF SAIYANS. VEGETA ... is not so fanciful, right?

EXT. OUTER SPACE Two Saiyan space pods head to the massive Frieza’s Ship.

FRIEZA (V.O.) As you may have already been informed, it’s a planet located in Sector Seven.

INT. ASSEMBLY ROOM - FRIEZA’S SPACESHIP A large dark room where Vegeta and Nappa stand side by side, listening.

Ahead of them is Frieza, inside his hover-chair a little above on a platform, with his back to the two Saiyans.

FRIEZA You two will be sent on a reconnaissance mission. You will inform me about the situation on the planet and prepare it for my arrival.

He turns to face the two warriors.

FRIEZA (CONT’D) You two have proven to be the most competent to me over the years. I trust you.

VEGETA Do not we have any post in this sector?

FRIEZA It is an area away from the universe, probably there is no great value. But if the orbs are there, I’ll get them. (beat) Was I clear?

NAPPA Yes, my lord. We’ll bring news soon.

Frieza nods.

INT. CORRIDOR - FRIEZA’S SPACESHIP A door whooshes open. Vegeta and Nappa walk down the hallway.

But Zarbon emerges from a corner blocking their path.

ZARBON Look who’s here, the Saiyan couple. Did you come and lick Frieza’s feet so he could take it lightly with you?

Vegeta or Nappa are not shaken by those words.

VEGETA In fact, we came to you lick our boots, after all we traveled a long time and you know that space dust is very resistant.

Unlike the two warriors, Zarbon takes a hit in his pride.

ZARBON I am the first General of Lord Frieza and his most reliable man, if you want to take this post from me, I want to see you try.

Vegeta just laughs, mocking Zarbon.

VEGETA Sorry, I have a personal rule of not killing assholes because they end up killing themselves.

Without answers, Zarbon just stands still while Vegeta walks past him.

NAPPA Stop being such a shame, Zarbon.

Nappa follows Vegeta.

INT. ASSEMBLY ROOM - FRIEZA’S SPACESHIP Zarbon enters and bows before Frieza.

ZARBON Lord Frieza.

Frieza turns to him, listening.

ZARBON (CONT’D) I ask you to let me go on this mission instead of Vegeta and Nappa.

FRIEZA Do not you trust them?

ZARBON Sincerely? No, sir. Vegeta is a very unstable and unpredictable man, difficult to know what he is capable of. I am far superior to both of them.

FRIEZA I made Vegeta and Nappa swear allegiance to me after I extinguished their race. I have both lives in my hand, and they know it.

ZARBON I know but it’s a big risk that we’re running here, sir.

After a short pause: FRIEZA Tell me, Zarbon, do you believe in myths and legends?

ZARBON I’m sorry...?

FRIEZA There was a legend on the Saiyans’ planet about a mighty warrior born of a thousand in a thousand years to lead his people to glory. A man so powerful that he can rule whatever he wants.

ZARBON Sir, I do not know what the point...

FRIEZA If the Dragon Balls we once thought were myths are real, then it’s possible that this legend is not so mythical.

ZARBON So you believe that Vegeta is this warrior?

FRIEZA (beat) I’m not sure. But I want to keep him around.

EXT. KAME HOUSE - EVENING Establishing.

INT. LIVING ROOM - KAME HOUSE - EVENING Bulma helps Gohan pack his huge study books back in his schoolbag.

BULMA Your mother really cares about your studies. That’s nice.

GOHAN Yeah, she wants me to get famous and rich to give her a new home. I think I can do this.

Bulma smiles kindly at that attitude.

When Bulma packs one of the books, she feels something inside the bag. She pulls this strange object revealing to be the FOUR-STAR DRAGON BALL. An orb that fits in the palm of the hand that appears to be made of acrylic, with an orange color and four small stars on its surface.

GOHAN (CONT’D) Oh, I forgot it was in there.

BULMA I have not seen one of these for a long time. It was very kind of Lord Kami-Sama to leave it with Goku.

GOHAN My father said that my grandfather gave him and that is a very important gift.

BULMA That’s true.

An idea lights up in Bulma’s mind.

BULMA (CONT’D) Come with me.

She hurries upstairs pulling Gohan with her.

INT. ATTIC - KAME HOUSE - EVENING A rather cramped place with a single window, but replete with relics of the past. Clothes, objects, etc.

37.

Bulma and Gohan sit on the floor, she rummages inside an old chest while Gohan just watches her.

GOHAN What exactly are we looking for?

BULMA It must be here... somewhere.

Bulma’s determined. Then, finally: Yay!

BULMA (CONT’D)

She pulls out the chest the DRAGON RADAR - a portable tracking device able to find the Dragon Balls.

BULMA (CONT’D) Do you know what this is?

Gohan shakes his head negatively.

BULMA (CONT’D) When your father and I gathered to look for the Dragon Balls, I used the four-star sphere he had to track the energy of the others.

GOHAN You build this?

Yep.

BULMA

GOHAN That’s so cool!

Gohan grabs the device in total awe.

BULMA After gathering all the spheres, you will be able to fulfill the desire. But now it’s a useless device, the spheres are well secured now.

GOHAN My father never told me that.

BULMA There’s a lot of history left behind, believe me.

EXT. KAME HOUSE - NIGHT Master Roshi, Bulma and Krillin wave to Goku and Gohan, who are about to leave.

KRILLIN Have a good trip back!

GOKU Thanks! (to Gohan) Ready?

Yes.

GOHAN

Goku TAKES OFF. The other three just watch them disappear into the night.

EXT. SKY - NIGHT Goku flies with his son on his shoulders.

The young Gohan relishes the incredible view of the starry night sky above his head. It’s almost magical.

That’s when Goku HEARS an old-wise VOICE in his head, and only him.

VOICE Goku. We need to talk, it’s urgent.

Whatever the voice belongs to, Goku knows it.

GOKU I’m on my way, Master.

Huh?

GOHAN

GOKU Sorry, Gohan, but we’re going to have to make a stop before we get home.

Where to?

GOHAN

SUDDENLY - Goku BANKS UPWARD even faster. Gohan holds tightly on him.

Like a rocket going into the atmosphere, Goku tears through the clouds rising more and more.

EXT. ABOVE ANY CLOUD - NIGHT The sea of clouds stretches as far as the eye can reach. Goku and Gohan emerge through that layer of clouds.

In the distance, they see: THE LOOKOUT. An ancient platform - like a dome upside-down - the size of a soccer field that is in geostationary orbit in the skies of Earth.

Below it, in the center, there is a slim tower that stretches down wandering in the clouds - the KORIN TOWER. Gohan’s eyes widen in awe seeing that.

GOKU I wanted to show you this place another day, but there was an emergency. It’s pretty cool, isn’t it?

GOHAN It’s amazing, dad!

Goku heads toward it.

EXT. THE LOOKOUT COURTYARD - NIGHT Only the moonlight illuminates the wide flat courtyard. The place is heavenly, quiet. Flower beds decorate the edge of the dome, as do tall trees.

In the center, a row of palm trees lead the way to the KAMI’S TEMPLE - similar to the Blue Mosque temple but smaller.

Goku lands on the floor and walks toward the temple while Gohan goes by his side, still gaping at the environment.

A FIGURE awaits Goku and Gohan at the entrance to the Kami’s Temple - MR. POPO. A lovable black man in monk’s clothes.

Mr. Popo.

GOKU

MR. POPO Mr. Goku. Your presence is always good here. And apparently you brought your little heir along.

GOKU Yeah, he’s been drooling over this place so far. Not unlike me the first time.

MR. POPO Certainly. Lord Kami-Sama is already waiting for you.

Goku nods, then kneels by Gohan.

GOKU I need to talk something very important with the master of this place, okay? In the meantime, I want you to be a good kid with Mr. Popo. Understood?

All right.

Great.

GOHAN GOKU

They enter the temple - Mr. Popo and Gohan go on one way as Goku goes in another different.

INT. BANQUET HALL - KAMI’S TEMPLE - NIGHT Mr. Popo enters with Gohan, who is still very shy. But his eyes open wide when he sees something off camera.

MR. POPO You can enjoy everything, it’s all yours. I promise I will not interrupt.

PULL BACK TO REVEAL A massive table full of all kinds of food and candies you can imagine. The paradise for a child.

EXT. BALCONY - KAMI’S TEMPLE - NIGHT A lonely figure stands staring at the stars, lost in thought.

This is KAMI-SAMA, the Guardian of the Earth.

He’s a wise Namekian, perhaps as old as the Grand Elder. He wears a long white robe and wields a wooden staff.

As Goku approaches him, he bows respectfully.

GOKU Master Kami-Sama.

KAMI-SAMA Goku. It’s always good to see a friend face.

GOKU It’s good to be back. (re: the sky) I would never deny having such a view.

KAMI-SAMA Nature has its peculiar charm.

Goku notices an aura of concern on Kami-Sama.

GOKU You seemed pretty intense when you contacted me. Some problem?

KAMI-SAMA Some time ago I felt a terrible Ki in the galaxy, far away. But it came closer. And what I feel is chaos, disorder.

GOKU Is there anyone powerful? Coming here to Earth?

KAMI-SAMA I wanted to have the right answers, but unfortunately I don’t know. If there is something coming, you and all others should be kept awake.

GOKU You are the guardian of this world and I will help you defend it at all costs.

KAMI-SAMA Well, maybe I do not have as much time to live as you do, my dear Goku. (off look) And the Earth will need powerful guardians who can protect it at my absence. I’m ending my journey, but you’re starting yours.

Off Goku as he lets that words sink in...

EXT. DEEP SPACE The twin Saiyan space pods speed through the galaxy.

CLOSE ON A POD’S WINDOW, where we can see Vegeta inside, eyes closed, as if meditating.

ON ANOTHER POD is Nappa, also like Vegeta.

EXT. WEST CITY - DAY Flying over the city.

It’s a SPRAWLING METROPOLIS as big as the state of Rhode Island. A place of amazing technology. BILLBOARDS adorn various roofs, walkways that link one building to the other.

Streets in constant movement.

EXT. THE CAPSULE CORPORATION - DAY A massive sophisticated facility surrounded by a large green garden.

BULMA (V.O.) Are we ready?

INT. LAB - THE CAPSULE CORPORATION - DAY A high-tech laboratory with advanced SCIENTIFIC EQUIPMENT and flat screens displays.

Inside we find Bulma - dressed in a white coat and goggles on her forehead - plus TWO ENGINEERS with her.

The three work at a console, supervising a few meters ahead through a glass panel a TEST CHAMBER, which shelters a FUTURISTIC JET-BIKE. ENGINEER #1 We recalculate the process again.

Ready to move on.

BULMA Are you sure?

Yes ma’am.

ENGINEER #1

BULMA Alright, let’s proceed. Starting test 027. Model: Jet-Bike SS. ENGINEER #2 Starting material compression in 3... 2... 1...

The engineers type on the keyboard. At the same instant, tendrils of energy swirl the jet-bike.

Bulma and the other two put on their goggles and watch that with a curious look.

And when they least expect - an explosion of circuits - the bike COLLAPSES completely and IMPLODES inside the chamber.

The glass panel cracks and the smoke rises.

Bulma pulls out her goggles disappointed to see the bike as a pile of scrap metal.

BULMA I’m done. I can never put this thing in a damn capsule.

ENGINEER #1 Well... at least the window did not break this time.

Bulma just stares. Seconds later, another SCIENTIST enters the room in alert.

SCIENTIST Miss Bulma!

What?

BULMA

SCIENTIST We have a problem.

INT. HALLWAY - THE CAPSULE CORPORATION - DAY TRACKING with Bulma and the scientist as they stride down the hallway. He hands her a tablet and Bulma checks it.

SCIENTIST That was the result of the satellite fifteen minutes ago. At first, we thought it was just a meteorite or space junk. But then we did an in-depth calculation.

(MORE)

SCIENTIST (CONT’D) Whatever may be, it’s changing its course.

Bulma shoots him a surprised look.

INT. CONTROL ROOM - THE CAPSULE CORPORATION - DAY The core of the building. Dozens of technicians working on their computers.

Bulma bursts in the room, ordering: BULMA I want each image of our main satellite within an hour until now, in the big screen.

She stops in front of the large main monitor of the room.

Almost the total wall size.

The technicians type fast.

ON THE MAIN MONITOR: An image appears showing several photographs taken by the satellite lens. All from deep space.

Bulma gazes at the screen, analyzing with her veteran eyes.

BULMA (CONT’D) Top right corner. Enlarge.

As she commands, that single image now takes over the entire main screen. Bulma sees something curious there.

Zoom in.

BULMA (CONT’D)

And the photo ZOOMS in. We can notice something standing out in the infinity of space.

More.

BULMA (CONT’D)

In the second zoom we finally identified what it is - the tiny two SAIYAN SPACE PODS. TIGHT ON Bulma, with an astonished and nervous look at the same time.

EXT. OUTER SPACE - DAY In the distance, Earth. A satellite hangs next to us.

And SUDDENLY - the two SPACE PODS BLAST INTO FRAME through the satellite, SHATTERING it as they plunge into Earth’s atmosphere.

INT. CONTROL ROOM - THE CAPSULE CORPORATION - DAY An alert message sounds from one of the computers. Bulma turns around quickly.

TECHNICIAN Projectiles entering the atmosphere.

BULMA We have a possible crash-site?

TECHNICIAN Calculating.

EXT. EAST CITY SKYLINE - DAY Another great metropolitan capital. Everything seems quiet until... ... THE SPACE PODS GO BLAZING toward the city like meteors.

EXT. EAST CITY STREETS - DAY People around begin to look up. Some curious, others fall into despair.

ABOVE THEIR HEADS - the two Saiyan Pods streak down over the skyscrapers leaving a trail of smoke behind.

From the pedestrians position, we track the twin pods... ... until, some miles distant, disappearing from our view in the city downtown... ... the pods CRASH-LAND INTO THE GROUND in a thunderous BOOM. The impact reverberates on everything, SHAKING the street like a small-scale earthquake. Windows CRACK. The dust starts to rise from the crash-site.

INT. CONTROL ROOM - THE CAPSULE CORPORATION - DAY Another technician turns to Bulma after checking his monitor.

TECHNICIAN Impact confirmed: both objects crashed the center of East City.

EXT. DOWNTOWN EAST CITY - DAY WIDE ON: A massive dust dome covers the crash site. We don’t even see the crater. Some buildings fell apart, others badly wrecked.

In the streets, CHAOS. People grimy, covered with dust running away in the midst of the destruction zone. Some wounds, others stunned.

More civilians come out from within the smoke curtain. But a sudden KI BLAST hits the back of one innocent, killing him instantly.

As the victim drops dead, Vegeta and Nappa walk out of the smoke surveying their surroundings.

SCOUTER POV: A digitized electronic scan of the place, overlaid with alphanumeric readouts which change faster than the human eye can follow.

NAPPA Look at the power level of these people. It was not such a bad idea to hide those precious orbs around here, no one would think about looking at that garbage.

But Vegeta’s scouter BEEPS - it found something.

VEGETA Did you see that?

Seconds later, Nappa’s scouter does the same beep.

NAPPA East. It’s different from most we’ve seen here.

VEGETA Definitely. Let’s move.

Vegeta and Nappa POWER UP their Ki forming an ENERGY AURA around their bodies and then TAKE FLIGHT into the skies.

INT. LIVING ROOM - GOKU AND CHI-CHI’S HOME - DAY Goku enters carrying a net full of fishes. He’s pretty dirty and wet.

GOKU It was hard today. The fish were not willing to cooperate with me.

He lowers down the net wetting the entire floor.

GOKU (CONT’D) And then I saw a deer on the bank of the river. And I got stuck: I get the fish or I’ll get the...

Then Goku realizes Chi-Chi and Gohan watching TV, tense.

Guys...?

GOKU (CONT’D)

CHI-CHI Goku, watch this.

Without understanding what’s going on, Goku joins Chi-Chi and Gohan to see what is happening.

ON THE TV: A SHAKY FOOTAGE of the Saiyan space pods aftermath landing, then Vegeta and Nappa coming out of the smoke.

TV REPORTER Two... men, apparently, emerged unscathed from the dust and suddenly took flight without explanation!

Still in the footage, Vegeta and Nappa take off.

CHI-CHI What’s going on, Goku? Who are these people?

GOHAN This is on all channels. They almost destroyed the entire city!

Goku remains silent. That’s what Kami-Sama was talking about.

GOKU We need to go, now.

What?

CHI-CHI

Goku just moves to another room urgently.

CHI-CHI (CONT’D) Goku -- Gohan, take your bag.

Chi-Chi goes after Goku for an explanation while we stay with Gohan.

CHI-CHI (O.S.) Goku, what the hell is going on? I need an explanation.

GOKU (O.S.) I’ll tell you everything on the way. I promise.

Gohan grabs his schoolbag - the same one he took to Kame House before.

EXT. SKY - DAY Following Vegeta and Nappa as they fly vigorously, speeding through the blue sky.

NAPPA Are we not supposed to find the orbs here?

VEGETA If I were the creator of the most valuable objects in the universe and wanted to hide them, I would leave with the stronger person to protect them.

NAPPA That makes sense.

Suddenly, the scouter beeps again. Vegeta hangs in the air.

Nappa does the same.

VEGETA He’s moving. Fast.

A small ARROW on the scouter display points to a new direction.

West.

NAPPA

Vegeta and Nappa rocket away into the new route.

EXT. KAME HOUSE - DAY Parked next to the house is a high-tech CAPSULE CORPS. AIRCRAFT - with the classic company logo on its hull.

Goku lands with Chi-Chi in his arms and Gohan on his back. As they walk toward the house, Bulma leaves it.

Bulma!

CHI-CHI

Bulma and Chi-Chi hug.

BULMA It’s good to see you again.

CHI-CHI Please tell me you know what’s going on.

Before Bulma can speak, Krillin steps out the house and joins the group.

KRILLIN Goku! Did you see the news? Who are those people?

GOKU I saw it, Krillin, and that’s why I’m here.

All attention shifts to Goku.

GOKU (CONT’D) Kami-Sama warned me that these beings would reach Earth. I just did not think it would be so soon.

BULMA So what’s the plan?

GOKU Can you take Gohan and Chi-Chi to Kami’s Temple?

BULMA Of course I can, did you forget who I am by accident?

Goku smiles. Bulma heads for her aircraft.

CHI-CHI (to Goku) Why are you sending us there?

GOKU It’s the safest place on the planet. Trust me.

Even though she does not like the idea, Chi-Chi walks toward the aircraft. Gohan holds Goku’s hand tightly.

GOHAN Daddy, I want to be with you!

GOKU Not this time, Gohan. Those two are dangerous men and I want to keep you and your mother safe from them.

But...

GOHAN

GOKU Go with Bulma.

Gohan obeys.

GOKU (CONT’D) Krillin, call the Master, let’s take him too.

Right.

KRILLIN

Krillin rushes into the house.

Moments later, Goku senses something.

GOKU Oh no. (to Bulma, urgently) Get out here!

Gohan stops halfway, looking at his father, confused. Then a SONIC BOOM fills the air. Goku turns to Gohan, who is still static.

GOKU (CONT’D) HURRY GOHAN! But it’s too late - TWO FIGURES in the sky are coming. They descend toward the island and... ... KA-BLAM! Vegeta and Nappa LAND MIGHTILY blowing up earth everywhere, cratering the ground.

The two Saiyans take a step forward and analyze the territory around them, quiet.

Goku clenches his fists, ready for the worst. At the door of the house, Krillin and Master Roshi come across that situation.

VEGETA’S SCOUTER POV: Looking at Goku, a whole data file pops up about him. Numbers and letters mixed in a strange language, impossible for us to read.

VEGETA Oh, it’s you.

Goku takes a few seconds to realize that Vegeta refers to him.

VEGETA (CONT’D) I didn’t know there were others of us in this sector. And apparently, you did not do a good job here.

GOKU What hell are you talking about?

VEGETA (to Nappa) That whole Frieza story was bullshit. He just wanted us to come to this goddamn planet to finish the rookie's job.

GOKU Hey! I do not know who you are or where you came from, but I’m just going to give you a chance to get out of here without anyone getting hurt.

Vegeta laughs at Goku’s words.

VEGETA Is that you think?

Vegeta aims his palm at Goku, energy sparks flicker around it. He’s about to send his blast when Gohan stands between him and Goku, wanting to protect his father.

GOHAN Leave my father alone!

Gohan!

Vegeta looks to Gohan and then to Chi-Chi, who is being held

by Bulma next to the craft. He realizes.

VEGETA Unbelievable. You should destroy everything and instead formed a family. You’re so weak. Maybe that’s why they sent you here.

At the same moment, a glowing BALL OF ENERGY grows in Vegeta’s palm and he fires it toward Gohan.

In a quick move, Goku YANKS his son out of the away as Vegeta’s attack hits Gohan’s SCHOOLBAG, tearing it apart.

The energy ball blows a hole in the ground, but Gohan is safe, lying down. Chi-Chi despairs and gets rid of Bulma’s arms, running to her son.

Gohan!

CHI-CHI

Vegeta has a sadistic smile on his face, but his eyes catch something that interests him.

VEGETA’S POV: Lying on the sand, smoking, is the four-star Dragon Ball that was in Gohan’s bag. Intact.

TIME SLOWS to Vegeta as he gazes at the ball - it’s true, everything. For a moment his mind is out of this world.

THEN - WHAM! GOKU KICKS VEGETA’S HEAD so hard, he flies across the island vanishing INTO THE FOREST.

Go!

GOKU (to Chi-Chi)

Chi-Chi runs with Gohan back to Bulma’s aircraft.

Nappa is about to unleash an energy ball toward the craft.

But Goku DASHES in a heartbeat close to Nappa and SWERVES Nappa’s arm JUST AS he fires, missing the shot.

In the same second, Goku punches Nappa’s ribs twice and in the third punch - BAM! A RIGHT HOOK into his chin that sends Nappa away in the SEA. GOKU (CONT’D) Krillin, protect them!

As Goku finishes speaking, he dashes again in the direction Vegeta went.

Krillin runs with Roshi to Bulma’s aircraft.

MASTER ROSHI Wait! I can’t go without my summer magazines!

KRILLIN Forget that!

As they get into the aircraft, the engine comes to life and it ROCKETS OFF THERE. EXT. FOREST - TURTLE ISLAND - DAY Bouncing through the trees, Vegeta smashes everything in his path until he finally stops.

As he gets up, Goku appears a few feet behind him. Vegeta wipes some blood at the corner of his mouth.

VEGETA Do not think you’ll take me off guard again, you bastard.

GOKU You should have thought twice before threatening my family.

VEGETA They will be the first that I will kill in front of you, Kakarot.

Goku REACTS to that name.

GOKU What did you call me?

Vegeta responds throwing a ball of energy, but Goku DUCKS. The ball makes its way to the skies burning the treetops.

Then Vegeta LASHES OUT, ready to kill Goku.

And THE FIGHT IS ON. Both men show their incredible fighting skills. They are practically on the same level, one blocking and dodging each other move.

EXT. SKY - DAY The Capsule Corps. aircraft is already far from the island.

54.

INT. CAPSULE CORPS. AIRCRAFT - DAY Bulma pilots. Chi-Chi, Gohan, Krillin and Roshi are in the back, concerned.

GOHAN We need to go back and get my father!

BULMA Sorry, Gohan, but your father wants to save us. And getting back to the island would be a bad idea.

GOHAN But he’s alone down there!

KRILLIN Hey Gohan. Your father is the strongest warrior I’ve ever seen, he knows how to take care of himself, believe me.

CHI-CHI It’s going to be all right, son. I promise. Soon Goku will join us.

EXT. SEA - DAY The water is calm. The surface is like a mirror. Then, Nappa BURSTS from underwater into the skies.

INT. CAPSULE CORPS. AIRCRAFT - DAY The RADAR beeps. Bulma checks it.

BULMA Shit! The radar is showing one of them coming to us!

CHI-CHI Oh my God -- what are we going to do?

MASTER ROSHI I may try to overthrow him, but my strength is no longer as before.

BULMA No Master, it’s too risky.

TIGHT ON Krillin, he knows what has to be done.

Without saying a word, Krillin walks to the back of the aircraft and opens the back door.

Krillin?

MASTER ROSHI

BULMA What the hell do you think you’re doing?!

KRILLIN Just keep going to the temple!

And he LEAPS off the aircraft.

EXT. SKY - DAY Krillin leaves Bulma’s aircraft dropping into a FREEFALL. ON NAPPA Coming from below, towards the goal. He sights the aircraft in the distance and prepares to shoot it down.

ON KRILLIN He stretches his arms forward beyond his head, looking like a human torpedo.

ON NAPPA He doesn’t notice Krillin, he only has eyes to the aircraft.

Just as he FIRES his Ki blast... ... Krillin STRIKES INTO NAPPA’S CHEST at great speed with his body weight, making him miss the shot.

They PLUMMET toward the island.

EXT. CAPSULE CORPS. AIRCRAFT - DAY Nappa’s energy ball passes inches from the aircraft detonating moments later in the air.

EXT. BEACH - TURTLE ISLAND - DAY As Krillin and Nappa SLAM INTO THE GROUND violently, Krillin keeps bouncing across the floor like a stone thrown on the surface of a lake.

CLOSE ON NAPPA, lying face-first on the ground covered in sand. Then he climbs to his feet.

His scouter was totally damaged thanks to the impact.

Furious, he removes the device from his ear, now it’s just garbage.

Nappa looks around, no sign of Krillin.

NAPPA (shouts) Show up, you little worm! I want to look into your eyes while I kill you!

PULL BACK from Nappa to find... ... Krillin hidden behind some rocks.

EXT. FOREST - TURTLE ISLAND - DAY Back at the duel: Goku and Vegeta fight as they advance through the forest.

Punch! Kick! Parry! Roundhouse! Jump! Faster and faster until the combatant’s hands and feet are a blur.

The blows they miss hit some trees, wracking them down.

But Vegeta manages to hit Goku’s face, he takes this moment to give a wicked punches and kicks combination. Goku can’t escape.

Vegeta ends with a kick into Goku’s chest that pushes him some yards BACK, smashing through the trees on the way.

Vegeta walks up to Goku, with a posture already victorious.

VEGETA You shame the Saiyans, Kakarot.

Stop resisting so I’ll get it over with.

GOKU (rising) Stop calling me that... I’m Goku and I’m an earthling!

Goku spreads his arms and let out a fury roar from the deep of his lungs as he kindles his Ki like a great explosion of energy.

57.

The power is so much that the trees near him TILT back. A strong wind blows through the woods.

Vegeta didn’t expect that. His scouter beeps again and he does not believe in what the device shows.

VEGETA (almost a whisper) His power... is over eight thousand!

Goku gives one JUMP - Vegeta shields with his arms and takes Goku’s punch FULL ON. He skids backwards, feet ripping the ground.

But Goku doesn’t stop there. He continues to attack, with rage. Vegeta does his best to defend himself and dodge, but Goku is increasing his speed every second.

Goku SWATS Vegeta’s stomach, then ELBOWS his back. He grabs Vegeta’s ankle and SWINGS him high up skyward.

EXT. SKIES ABOVE THE FOREST - CONTINUOUS Vegeta rises wildly. He stops in mid-air regaining his balance. He looks down and sees Goku on the ground, staring at him.

VEGETA Let’s finish this.

Vegeta points both hands for Goku. He begins to CHARGE UP his Ki there.

DIE!

VEGETA (CONT’D)

He unleashes his GALICK CANNON - a powerful ray of luminous purple energy.

ON GOKU As he gathers his hands and also shoots his Ki in a bluish energy beam.

WIDE ON: The two powers COLLIDE in a dim light explosion over the forest. Energy branches of the clash hit the forest like LIGHTNING BOLTS. ON VEGETA Still hovering in the air. His sight is still overshadowed by the great discharge of energy.

58.

Until - a loud roar draws his ears. As Vegeta looks down, he sees Goku lunging for him at high speed.

Vegeta raises both hands over his head, arms outstretched and joined. As he DRIVES IT DOWN like a hammer... ... Goku goes through the gap between Vegeta’s arms and HEADBUTTS him hard as the Prince of Saiyans hits Goku’s back at same instant.

Two simultaneous hit. Goku shatters Vegeta’s SCOUTER in the process. And they DROP together back to...

EXT. FOREST - TURTLE ISLAND - DAY Crashing through the canopy, clipping branches and hitting the ground like two sand bags, stunned.

EXT. BEACH - TURTLE ISLAND - DAY Nappa stares to where Vegeta and Goku are fighting. The echo of the fight is like thunder. Now it’s all quiet.

Behind him, a stealth Krillin approaches to a surprise attack. He jumps to hit a blow but Nappa turns around and grabs Krillin by the throat.

NAPPA (chuckles) Did you really think you were going to beat me like that, you little brat?

He squeezes Krillin’s windpipe a little more.

NAPPA (CONT’D) You should remain hidden.

But Nappa realizes that Krillin is trying to say something.

NAPPA (CONT’D) What? Last words?

Krillin puts his hands over the face with the fingers spread toward his eyes and...

KRILLIN Solar flare!

59. ... begets a gleaming FLASH OF LIGHT - like a lightning blinding Nappa in the process, which consequently looses Krillin.

Krillin takes this time to catch his breath as Nappa staggers away grabbing in his eyes, screaming in pain.

NAPPA What did you do to me you piece of shit?! I can not see anything!

Nappa moves his arms in all directions trying to find Krillin, but he’s far from him. Krillin seizes the moment to escape.

EXT. FOREST - TURTLE ISLAND - DAY Vegeta wakes up, blood dripping from his forehead. He notes that GOKU IS GONE. Damn it!

VEGETA

He stands and races away.

EXT. BEACH - TURTLE ISLAND - DAY Goku and Krillin reunite at the shore.

You okay?

GOKU

KRILLIN Yeah. And you?

Goku gives him a nod.

Let’s go.

GOKU

They LEAP INTO THE SKY, flying off.

A moment later, Vegeta and Nappa arrive in the same place.

Vegeta notes Nappa’s red eyes.

VEGETA What happened to you?

Nothing.

NAPPA

EXT. SKY - DAY Our heroes flee, but Krillin notes that Vegeta and Nappa are just below them. He stops in mid-air. Goku notices that and doesn’t understand at first.

GOKU Krillin, we can not stop now!

KRILLIN They will continue to follow us.

We need to delay them a little more.

They exchange looks. An idea matches.

Goku and Krillin hurl SEVERAL ENERGY BALLS at the same time like a human machine gun.

EXT. BEACH - TURTLE ISLAND - DAY Vegeta and Nappa are about to chase after the other two, but they see that GLOWING BALLS swarming overhead.

They just hang there, motionless.

NAPPA What the hell?

EXT. SKY - DAY Goku and Krillin nod to each other.

Now!

GOKU

And they bring down their hands like a move command.

EXT. BEACH - TURTLE ISLAND - DAY Each ball in the sky DROP straight toward the ground after Goku and Krillin’s command.

RUN!

VEGETA

Vegeta and Nappa SPREAD OUT across the beach as the balls PUMMEL the ground like a BOMBING. BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!

EXT. SKY - DAY A dense cloud of dust and sand covers part of the coast of the island. Time to go, Goku and Krillin depart.

EXT. BEACH - TURTLE ISLAND - DAY In the midst of all that dust, Vegeta and Nappa gather again - dirty, defeated. They look up, no sign of Goku or Krillin.

What now?

NAPPA

VEGETA Send the message to Frieza. The Dragon Balls are here.

EXT. KAME HOUSE - DAY Back to where the conflict began. Vegeta stands in front of the four-star Dragon Ball.

VEGETA (V.O.) Maybe we need back up.

He bends down and grabs the ball.

Off Vegeta staring at the glossy orb CUT TO: EXT. OUTER SPACE A black void shot with stars, far from any sun. Frieza’s spaceship glides in our direction.

INT. BRIDGE - FRIEZA’S SPACESHIP Frieza is in the center, staring at the stars in silence. A BRIDGE CREWMAN walks up behind him.

BRIDGE CREWMAN Lord Frieza, we received an urgent message from the Sabres Team.

Tell me.

FRIEZA

A HOLOGRAPHIC DISPLAY pops up on the crewman’s forearm.

BRIDGE CREWMAN (reading) Location confirmed. Orbs sighted on the planet Earth.

FRIEZA Finally. Trace a new route to Earth, fast.

EXT. THE LOOKOUT COURTYARD - DAY Bulma, Gohan, Chi-Chi and Roshi are resting on the floor, leaning against the Capsule Corps. aircraft.

Mr. Popo leaves the temple with a tray of juice glasses and offers to them.

MR. POPO Recompose your energies, staying exhausted does not help anyone.

BULMA Thank you, Mr. Popo.

Master Roshi delirious with the drink.

MASTER ROSHI This is incredible, Mr. Popo! I want the recipe for it.

MR. POPO As you wish.

Gohan is restless. He barely touched the juice.

CHI-CHI Gohan, you need to eat something.

Bulma looks at Roshi and sees him completely relaxed as if he were on vacations.

BULMA Can you at least pretend to be worried?

MASTER ROSHI Please, I’ve already fought with great warriors in the Martial Arts Tournament. Those two did not seem a big deal, Goku can handle it.

Bulma rolls her eyes indignantly.

MR. POPO Oh, there they are.

All eyes switch to Goku and Krillin, coming from the sky and landing safely on the ground.

Gohan cannot hold his feelings and runs to Goku jumping into his arms.

GOKU Hey big boy, how are you doing?

Gohan’s eyes are almost in tears.

GOHAN I thought I would not see you anymore.

GOKU But I always come back.

Chi-Chi approaches. She and Goku look at each other for a moment and then they hug.

Meanwhile, Master Roshi steps closer to Krillin.

MASTER ROSHI Where are my magazines? Do you want me to rot away of boredom here? Why did not you bring them?

KRILLIN Maybe because there were TWO SPACE KILLERS ON THE WAY! BULMA Goku, what happened to those two maniacs? Are they still alive?

GOKU Yes, Bulma. They are stronger than I could imagine. But that’s not the point now.

CHI-CHI What do you mean?

GOKU (casually) Because I’m starving! Haha.

Bulma and Chi-Chi exchange looks. Typical.

EXT. LUNAR SURFACE - DAY Vast, gray and desolate. Nestled in the sand is the AMERICAN FLAG of the Apollo Mission, untouched for years. On the horizon, a section of the Earth.

AN ENORMOUS SHADOW creeps across the gray sand of the moon to cover the flag wholly in darkness.

The shadow keeps moving forward - we don’t see what causes it yet, but whatever it is, it’s going to our planet.

EXT. DOWNTOWN EAST CITY - DAY We’re back at the crash-site of Vegeta and Nappa’s pods.

Firemen and police officers surrounded the entire perimeter.

Paramedics attend the victims injured. TV reporting teams everywhere.

Then a person stares into the sky. Then another. And another.

A chain reaction that makes everyone look up with the same expression - FEAR. People get PANICKED. Everyone wants to get out of there. Some reporters and their cameramen still remain there to report what is occurring.

REVEAL - a few miles above their heads, FRIEZA’S SPACESHIP materializes through the clouds, descending.

INT. BANQUET HALL - KAMI’S TEMPLE - DAY Our heroes are gathered at the long table. A lot of food of all kinds fills their eyes.

But everyone only has eyes for Goku, who devours his dish of food. When finished, he puts the empty plate with the other three and relaxes.

GOKU That was incredible, Mr. Popo. If I could, I would eat more.

MR. POPO I bet, yes.

GOKU Where’s Kami-Sama?

INT. MAIN HALL - KAMI’S TEMPLE - DAY Kami-Sama stands in front of NAMEKIANS SCRIPTURES carved on the wall - letters that look more like symbols to us. KamiSama slips his fingers over it, feeling its surface.

Goku comes in, approaching Kami-Sama.

GOKU We come across these beings you warned me, Mr. Kami-Sama. Really they are powerful, for a moment I thought I could not defeat them.

Perhaps...

KAMI-SAMA No, Goku. I did not refer to those two individuals, but something bigger than them.

Goku frowns, confused.

What?

GOKU

KAMI-SAMA And he’s here.

EXT. EAST CITY - DAY Frieza’s ship hovers above the buildings.

INT. BRIDGE - FRIEZA’S SPACESHIP - DAY Dodoria and Zarbon stand next to Frieza this time. Another bridge crewman turns to him.

BRIDGE CREWMAN We are ready, sir Frieza speaks into his monitor: FRIEZA People of Earth...

EXT. SERIES OF SHOTS AROUND THE WORLD - DAY In EAST CITY, people stare at the ship as they listen.

FRIEZA (V.O.) ... you have taken advantage of your freedom to this day.

On a street in ANOTHER CITY, confused people gaze at televisions in the electronic stores, all in STATIC with Frieza’s voice sounding.

FRIEZA (V.O.) (CONT’D) Today I, Frieza, your new Lord, claim for this planet and all that inhabit it.

In a NEWS STATION, a REPORTER’s in the middle of a broadcast as he hears...

FRIEZA (V.O.) (CONT’D) Submit yourself and you will have a chance of survival. Challenge me and you will perish.

INT. MAIN HALL - KAMI’S TEMPLE - DAY Bulma, Chi-Chi, Gohan, Krillin and Roshi join Goku and KamiSama. Goku seems worried.

GOKU Master Kami-Sama, what does that mean? Who is he?

KAMI-SAMA See by yourself.

Kami-Sama faces at the group. He takes a deep breath and then his eyeballs slide back, burning white. He’s focused, something happens.

KAMI-SAMA (CONT’D) -- For those who disobey me, there will be consequences. Death. Each of your lives is in my hand now, and I can crush them in a single movement.

Everyone listens in surprise - even though those words come out of Kami’s mouth, it doesn’t seem like he’s talking there, but someone else.

KAMI-SAMA (CONT’D) There is no escape for you anymore...

INT. BRIDGE - FRIEZA’S SPACESHIP - DAY Back to frieza, concluding.

FRIEZA ... there’s only me.

He ends the transmission.

FRIEZA (CONT’D) Zarbon, Dodoria: start the domination.

Off Frieza’s sadistic smile CUT TO: EXT. EAST CITY - DAY MONTAGE: Frieza’s army dominate the city. Hundreds of warriors leave the ship and spread all over the metropolis; panicked people running; Frieza’s men firing their Ki blasts into buildings, shops, cars, people, police officers that shoot at them but in vain. It’s chaotic and brutal.

END MONTAGE. EXT. THE LOOKOUT COURTYARD - DAY We left the chaos in the city for the lull of that place.

At the edge of the Lookout Goku stands motionless, with his back to us staring at the clouds just below. Eyes closed, a weight on his shoulders.

Krillin reaches up Goku, standing by his side.

GOKU (grins) Until the time the Master found out and we had to work on that plantation for a whole month.

A nostalgic moment between the two. But then Goku gets serious again, thoughtful.

GOKU (CONT’D) He’s down there, Krillin... killing and subjugating innocent people. Whoever is this Frieza, I can not just stand here.

KRILLIN Me neither. But what can we do?

Kami-Sama said he has an army, and we don’t.

BEAT as an idea lights up in Goku’s mind. He shoots a look at Krillin but says nothing.

KRILLIN (CONT’D) What? (realizes) I know that look -- you’re planning something, are not you?

GOKU Maybe our unique solution.

Goku rushes back to the temple, excited.

Hey, wait!

KRILLIN

Krillin follows him.

INT. MAIN HALL - KAMI’S TEMPLE - MOMENTS LATER Our gang gathered there, except Kami-Same and Mr. Popo. Goku already explained his idea.

BULMA This is crazy! We do not even know if they’ll come and join us.

GOKU But we have to try! Besides, we’re facing a possible end to the world, that brings anyone together, right?

KRILLIN Come on Bulma, it’s our best chance so far.

Reluctantly, Bulma feels she has to agree to that.

BULMA (muttering) Shit.

CHI-CHI I think it’s a good idea. All help is welcome at this time.

GOKU That’s I’m talking about. Krillin, you go after Tien Shinhan. Bulma, you get Yamcha.

Bulma turns to Chi-Chi and Gohan, which shake their heads “no”.

MASTER ROSHI I’m available. I’m a great travel partner, do not you think?

BULMA (to herself) I can’t believe in this.

EXT. THE LOOKOUT COURTYARD - DAY Goku and Krillin take off as well as Bulma roars aloft in her aircraft. The three going in different directions.

EXT. OPEN SEA - DAY WHOOSH! A Frieza’s ASSAULT DROPSHIP rockets across the ocean - an agile aircraft used to carry troops.

In the distance: the Turtle Island.

EXT. KAME HOUSE - DAY Vegeta and Nappa just wait there. The dropship lands near the house.

Zarbon hops out with a group of six soldiers. Then he stands before the two Saiyans. He notices Vegeta and Nappa’s condition - dirty and bruised.

ZARBON What happened? Did you stumble and fall?

Zarbon smiles, he’s enjoying it. Vegeta holds himself to not punch him right there.

VEGETA Let’s take care of that soon so you can go back to playing doll with your fat boyfriend.

ZARBON Better be careful with your words.

Where is the orb you said you found?

VEGETA One of them took it.

Nappa glances at Vegeta surprised.

ZARBON Where are they?

VEGETA If I had known this information, I would already be there, would not I? Zarbon tolerates Vegeta’s arrogance. Then he looks at Kame’s old house.

ZARBON Why did you call us here if you have nothing?

VEGETA This house belongs to one of the guardians of the orbs. Maybe there’s something else or something that leads us to them.

ZARBON (to his men) All right, search the whole house.

Piece by piece.

The soldiers march into the house.

EXT. FOREST OF GREENWOOD - DAY Establishing.

EXT. TIEN SHINHAN’S SHACK - DAY A modest wooden hut discreetly in the forest. The only one there, just the nature surround it.

Krillin trains with a Wing Chun training dummy outside the shack, alone.

VOICE (O.S.) Apparently Master Roshi does not teach so badly.

Krillin turns to - TIEN SHINHAN. Tall, bald, muscular. A disciplined, reclusive and heavily devoted martial artist. He carries a shopping bag with him.

KRILLIN He taught me a few stuffs.

Tien drops his bag and goes to Krillin. They hug, like good friends.

TIEN SHINHAN So, what brings you here? If it’s for a fight, I tell you I will not take it lightly.

But Krillin responds with a serious look. Tien Shinhan realizes that it’s not good news.

INT. TIEN SHINHAN’S SHACK - LATER Both of them drink a little of tea at the table. Krillin has told the whole story to Tien Shinhan.

TIEN SHINHAN Is anybody else coming too?

KRILLIN Bulma and Goku went after Yamcha and Piccolo, we hope they come.

What about you?

TIEN SHINHAN I heard about this Frieza, but I thought it was just a media thing. (beat) Goku is a great warrior and a good friend. If he can sacrifice himself for the Earth, I can too.

Krillin smiles satisfied.

KRILLIN Thank you for this. It will be good to fight side by side again, like in the old days.

TIEN SHINHAN But this time the whole planet is at stake.

KRILLIN Yeah, I don’t like to think about this too much.

EXT. THE SINGLE WHIP TAVERN - DAY A seedy looking bar. You can almost smell beer and urine around there.

We focus on the front door, and only on it as we hear an intense commotion inside the establishment.

VOICE (O.S.) -- And never step a foot here again!

BLAM! A MAN is hurled through the bar door by the OWNER, who shuts the door hard then.

Meet - YAMCHA. Handsome, athletic, with long black hair and an X-shaped scar on the left cheek. He rests for a moment lying on the ground staring up at the sky.

BULMA (O.S.) You are so deplorable.

That voice lights up Yamcha as he notices Bulma right next to him, propped up on one of the bikes parked there.

Bulma?

YAMCHA

BULMA I’m gonna say this once, so you better pay attention: I need you, as soon as possible.

Yamcha stands up, already thinking of ulterior motives.

YAMCHA (suggestively) Can I know why or is it a secret?

BULMA Defeat a space conqueror who made a genocide in an entire city.

Yamcha pauses. It was not the answer he expected.

YAMCHA That’s not my problem. The army will take care of this, they always take care of it.

He turns around to walk away.

BULMA It’s not me who is asking for your help, but Goku.

He stops.

YAMCHA He sent you?

BULMA He wants to beat that alien but he knows he can not do it alone. He’s asking for your help. (beat) Please.

Yamcha thinks, considering. Bulma believes he will not change his mind.

BULMA (CONT’D) When that guy dominates the whole planet, ask yourself: what was I am doing before that?

Bulma turns and walks away. Yamcha feels those words.

YAMCHA Okay, you won. I’m in.

Bulma faces him, surprised.

YAMCHA (CONT’D) But I’m not going to save this damn world because I owe Goku for saving my life a... sometimes, but for you.

BULMA Okay, whatever. My aircraft is right there, let’s go.

That sincere Yamcha’s statement was totally disregarded, and he does not believe it.

YAMCHA Wait a minute.

What?

BULMA

Yamcha rushes into the bar again.

Yamcha!

BULMA (CONT’D)

She waits impatiently. Then starts to listen: VOICE (O.S.) You again?! I told you what would happen if --

The angry voice is interrupted by FIGHTING NOISES. Shattering glass. Wood cracking. A destructive commotion inside the bar.

Then - two HUGE MEN - one is the bar’s owner - are THROWN through both bar windows, slamming on the ground unconscious. Yamcha steps out the bar, calm and victorious.

YAMCHA Not so deplorable, huh?

Without saying a word, Bulma heads off.

YAMCHA (CONT’D) What? Were not you impressed?

Bulma ignores him.

EXT. SKIES ABOVE A JUNGLE - DAY Another magnificent landscape. Goku SOARS into frame, flying over that green sea.

EXT. JUNGLE - DAY Sunlight pierces trees. Goku makes his way through a dense foliage. Walking by plants, vines, and finally arriving at a...

EXT. RIVERBANK - CONTINUOUS A wide river where there is a huge waterfall pouring tons of water.

Hovering a few feet over the river in front of the waterfall, is a solitary FIGURE - green skin, bat-like ears, a white turban and a flowing white cape. A Namekian, apparently.

This is PICCOLO, floating in a meditation pose. His eyes are close, really focused.

GOKU Hey, Piccolo! I wanna talk with you!

PICCOLO (still meditating) But I do not want to talk to you.

Go away.

GOKU C’mon, Piccolo -- for the old times.

Annoyed, Piccolo interrupts his ritual and lands in front of Goku. Only now do we see better his size - six feet tall.

Goku tilts his head up to look in Piccolo’s eyes.

PICCOLO Spit it out.

GOKU Apparently you like to get right to the point. I suppose you know the guy who arrived in East City.

PICCOLO I felt his Ki. It’s really something remarkable.

GOKU He is willing to take the Earth for himself and -PICCOLO (cuts in) I know that, I heard him too. Tell me what you came here to do besides bring the news of the day.

GOKU Ah... I know it sounds weird, after everything that happened, but I need your help to defeat this guy. (off Piccolo’s look) I would not come here if it was not really necessary, believe me.

PICCOLO To join you? This is the most ridiculous idea I’ve ever heard.

GOKU Yeah, it seemed better in my mind.

But it’s as they say, desperate times call for desperate measures.

Piccolo remains in silent.

GOKU (CONT’D) Look, I’m not asking you to be my friend or to forget the past, I’m asking you to fight for our lives (MORE)

GOKU (CONT’D) (CONT’D) and freedom. In the end, each of us goes to opposite sides again.

Goku waits a response.

No.

PICCOLO (dramatic pause)

Goku is taken aback as Piccolo simply turns his back and floats up to the waterfall.

PICCOLO (CONT’D) Kami-Sama is the guardian of this world, so let him do his job.

GOKU But he can not do it alone!

PICCOLO What a pity.

GOKU He needs us -- he needs you!

PICCOLO You already have my answer.

Piccolo returns to his meditation as before. Goku knows he lost that one. Disappointed, he flies up and away.

EXT. ATTIC - KAME HOUSE - DAY The place became a complete mess. Everything scattered on the ground thanks to Vegeta, who doesn’t know exactly what he is looking for.

Nappa climbs into the attic and finds Vegeta thinking for a moment.

NAPPA We have not found anything yet. It seems to be just an ordinary house.

A beat. Vegeta’s still thinking.

NAPPA (CONT’D) Why did not you tell Zarbon that you have an orb? What are you planning?

VEGETA The less you know, the better.

NAPPA This is dangerous, Vegeta. We know what can happen next.

VEGETA Just go back down. I’m on my way.

Nappa leaves the attic with a worried look at Vegeta. Vegeta looks around and only sees his failure.

Shit.

VEGETA (CONT’D)

Peeved, he smacks the wall letting a hole there. When he’s about to leave the room... ... a nearby BEEP catches his attention. Vegeta comes back and continues to hear that noise. He scans the entire area to know where it comes from.

Then he picks up an old chest - the same one we saw Bulma open earlier - and when he opens it, he comes across with the DRAGON RADAR. Vegeta takes the device with curiosity. He sees that something on the screen is flashing - whatever it is, points to his own location.

ON THE RADAR: It shows a small symbol of a solitary ball on the radar and another SIX gathered in another corner, far away.

Vegeta removes the four-star ball from his belt pocket - he holds it in one hand and the radar in the other.

He looks at both things and finally realizes.

But at that moment, he hears someone coming up. Vegeta keeps the ball back in his pocket and turns off the radar as Zarbon enters.

ZARBON There is nothing in this place.

You’re wasting our time!

VEGETA So destroy it, it will probably make you feel better.

Vegeta walks out of there. But as he leaves, Zarbon glances at the radar in Vegeta’s hand.

Zarbon stands alone, but suspecting Vegeta.

EXT. SKY - DAY As Vegeta and Nappa fly side by side, the Prince of Saiyans pulls the Dragon Radar from his belt.

NAPPA What’s that?

VEGETA Something that will lead us to victory, my friend.

NAPPA Are you sure?

VEGETA Yes, I feel it. If I had found this device before, maybe we should not have called Frieza here.

NAPPA Think very carefully, Vegeta, you’re risking our lives doing this.

VEGETA I don’t care. Do you know how long I waited for a single chance to kill Frieza? Every day I have this will and now I have chance in my hands, and I will steal it under Frieza’s nose. (checks the radar) Follow me.

Vegeta BANKS hard into another route. Nappa does the same.

INT. GUEST ROOM - KAMI’S TEMPLE - DAY A huge room filled with several beds. All neat and tidy.

Master Roshi lies on one of the beds in a deep sleep, snoring. Gohan sits on the border of his bed, head down, pensive. Chi-Chi walks in.

CHI-CHI I just got a call from Bulma.

She’s almost here with Yamcha.

She realizes that her son is a little sad and approaches, sitting next to him.

CHI-CHI (CONT’D) What is wrong, Gohan?

GOHAN I wanted to be out there with Dad and the others... being helpful.

CHI-CHI Your father just wants to keep you safe, as he always does. Trust him.

Yeah...

GOHAN

CHI-CHI But here you are my personal protector, right? Can you protect me?

Gohan lifts his head, grinning.

GOHAN Yes, I can.

Chi-Chi rubs Gohan’s head lovingly.

Good boy.

CHI-CHI

But SUDDENLY - Gohan gets on alert like a dog, he feels something.

Gohan...?

CHI-CHI (CONT’D)

GOHAN Did you feel that?

Gohan leaves his mother’s arms and runs out of the room. ChiChi does not understand and goes after him.

INT. MAIN HALL - KAMI’S TEMPLE - DAY Kami-Sama also feels a powerful Ki as well as Gohan. He’s visibly worried.

81.

EXT. THE LOOKOUT COURTYARD - DAY Gohan exits the temple looking at the sky, waiting for something or someone. Chi-Chi comes right behind him.

CHI-CHI Gohan! What’s going on?

A SONIC BOOM in the skies. We know what’s coming, and so does Gohan. He takes a fight position.

THEN - Vegeta and Nappa dive from the sky and land in the wide platform of the Lookout, cracking the pottery under their feet. Gohan takes a step forward from his mother, protecting her.

VEGETA Look who’s here, it’s Kakarot’s family. How are you?

GOHAN Leave us alone!

VEGETA Are you sure about that? Because I have something that might be of interest to you.

Vegeta grabs the four-star Dragon Ball.

GOHAN It’s my Dragon Ball... give it back to me!

VEGETA Come get it.

Mr. Popo also comes out the temple and sees the two intruders.

MR. POPO This is a sacred place, you can not battle here!

VEGETA There will be no battle, only your destruction.

Vegeta aims his palm at Gohan.

82.

CHI-CHI If you put a finger on my son, I’ll beat you down!

Vegeta responds with a smile. Sparks of purple energy start to swirl his hand and then... ... he shoots an energy ball toward the three of them. There is no time to run away. And - BOOM! The ball explodes.

We lost sight of Gohan, Chi-Chi and Mr. Popo in the smoke.

But as the dust settles, Vegeta and Nappa find all them ALIVE and Kami-Sama standing behind them, who generated a powerful ENERGY SHIELD that blocked the attack.

KAMI-SAMA You are not worthy to tread here.

Get out!

VEGETA I’m only going to leave when I have what I want. Give me the orbs, now!

KAMI-SAMA You will never have them. Not while I’m here.

VEGETA So let’s do it the hard way.

Vegeta and Nappa throw more two energy balls. Kami-Sama takes one step ahead of the others.

As the energy balls come, Kami-Sama raises his staff and strikes it upon the ground generating another energy shield around himself and the others.

BOOM! This time, a bigger blast - not even Kami could stand it. The shock wave knocks him and the others to the ground.

VEGETA (CONT’D) If you do not want to give me the balls, I’ll find them myself.

Vegeta shoots his last deadly energy ball. Kami-Sama’s still lying, he has no more strength. But... ... ANOTHER ENERGY BALL comes out nowhere hitting Vegeta’s, altering its trajectory. It flies clear of Kami-Sama and the others, exploding meter away.

Daddy!

GOHAN

Goku lands calmly in front of Kami-Sama and his family.

GOKU Mr. Popo, take Kami-Sama to a safe place. I’ll handle from here.

Mr. Popo helps Kami-sama get up and leads him back to the temple.

GOKU (CONT’D) Gohan, go with Mr. Popo and protect your mother.

But --

GOHAN

GOKU Do not argue, just go.

CHI-CHI Come on, Gohan. (to Goku) Be careful.

Goku nods. Chi-Chi also returns to the temple with Gohan.

Bulma’s aircraft ROARS above with its back door down. Yamcha, Krillin and Tien Shinhan jump out the craft and join Goku.

YAMCHA So this is where the party takes place.

TIEN SHINHAN Goku, where’s Piccolo?

GOKU I tried, but you know him. (to Vegeta) You know we will not let you guys get into this temple. Leave, now.

VEGETA Apparently, you called some friends. It’s good to see everyone gathered here, so I’ll not have to hunt them one by one.

KRILLIN What did you say?

84.

YAMCHA Okay, I officially hate this guy.

The two groups assume their fighting position. The battle is about to happen anytime.

GOKU You’re not leaving, are you?

No.

VEGETA

BEAT as Goku and Vegeta stare at each other, eye to eye.

AND THEN - both groups CHARGE toward each other. Two against four.

Goku and Tien Shinhan team-up against Vegeta; Krillin and Yamcha fight Nappa.

ON GOKU, TIEN AND VEGETA Two expert martial artists against a veteran military Saiyan.

Their moves are fast enough to become just BLURS to our eyes.

ON KIRLLIN, YAMCHA AND NAPPA Two other skilled fighters, but Nappa is managing to deal with them both.

ON GOKU, TIEN AND VEGETA Vegeta cannot keep up with two and ends up receiving a blow from Tien, which pushes him back.

Goku fires an energy ball. Vegeta DEFLECTS it with his hand.

But it was a distraction for Tien coming from above to a deadly attack!

Vegeta shields with his arms over his head. Tien Shinhan hits him a kick so hard that SINKS Vegeta’s feet into the ground.

At the same time, Goku advances. Vegeta grips Tien’s ankle and throws him at Goku, knocking both of them on the floor.

ON KRILLIN, YAMCHA AND NAPPA Nappa parries every blow the duo gives upon him. The Saiyan swipes Yamcha, sending him away.

Krillin tries to fight back, but Nappa’s huge hand grabs his whole face and slams him onto the ground hard. Krillin struggles but Nappa is much stronger and keeps him down there.

85.

NAPPA This time you’re not going to blind me, little brat.

Nappa hauls his fist ready to crush Krillin’s head. But Yamcha returns KNEEING NAPPA IN THE FACE, throwing him away and saving Krillin.

ON TIEN AND VEGETA The young fighter is no match for the Saiyan. Vegeta headbutts him BACKWARDS. Goku comes from behind, sending a right hook for Vegeta.

Vegeta whirls and GRABS Goku’s fist. Vegeta tries to hit his right hook, but Goku grabs that too.

Then, at the same time, they headbutt each other hard forehead into forehead.

They take distance from each other.

When Vegeta plans his attack, Tien wraps his arms around Vegeta’s waist, holding him.

Now Goku!

TIEN SHINHAN

VEGETA Get off me, you idiot!

Vegeta hits his elbow into Tien’s face, splashing blood out his nose and making him move away.

Tien!

GOKU

Goku BULLETS straight toward Vegeta - so fast that the Saiyan could not react - GOKU TACKLES VEGETA IN MID-FLIGHT, taking him across the Lookout. As they fly off the platform: CUT TO Krillin and Yamcha, the fight with Nappa is on fire. He kicks Krillin’s chest jerking him yards away. Yamcha uses his WOLF FIST ATTACK - a very fast series of powerful punches, swipes, and kicks.

His hands are a blur that hits the chest and belly of Nappa several times in a row. When Yamcha finishes, Nappa falls back, painful.

86.

Nappa looks at his armor and sees several CRACKS. He gives Yamcha a fierce look.

YAMCHA What, did it hurt?

EXT. AROUND THE LOOKOUT - DAY What follows is a frenzied MID-AIR MARTIAL ARTS BATTLE between Goku and Vegeta, swapping blows and Ki blasts.

They orbit around the Lookout and each other like bees at high speed, from time to time bumping into the surface of the structure and CRUMPLING it.

EXT. THE LOOKOUT COURTYARD - DAY Tien Shinhan climbs to his feet, wiping the blood from his nose. He looks around and doesn’t see Goku or Vegeta. Then he flies off the platform as well.

ON KRILLIN As he jumps on Nappa’s back, choking him.

KRILLIN Take him, Yamcha!

Yamcha gives a powerful punch for Nappa, but he BENDS DOWN making Yamcha to hit Krillin’s face! He flies off Nappa’s back and drops on the ground.

KRILLIN (CONT’D) WHAT’S YOUR PROBLEM?! I’M ON YOUR SIDE! Sorry!

YAMCHA

As Nappa LASHES INTO YAMCHA, KNOCKING HIM OUT-OF-FRAME CUT TO: EXT. AROUND THE LOOKOUT - DAY Back at Goku and Vegeta. Every blow they give each other, a sonic rumble reverberates throughout the air.

PULL BACK from the two fighters, rising to - Tien Shinhan, hovering not so far from them.

87.

Tien makes some ritualistic movements in front of his forehead with his fingers. When he ends, a thin fissure opens on his skin revealing to be his THIRD EYE. Then he joins both hands at chest level in a vague triangle shape. And in the gap between the hands, an energy begins to SHINE. ON GOKU AND VEGETA Goku pushes Vegeta away with both feet and seizes the moment to catch his breath. But the Saiyan warrior does not give up easy and he’s already coming to Goku again.

Midway, a TOWER OF LIGHT bathes Vegeta like a powerful searchlight. As he tilts his head up... ... TIEN DISCHARGES HIS TRI-BEAM - a kind of ENERGY CANNON that knocks Vegeta down, disappearing into the clouds below.

A beat.

Goku and Tien Shinhan glance at each other and nod. Good job.

But the battle sense comes back to action.

TIEN SHINHAN Goku, watch out!

Goku looks down and sees several LIGHT SPOTS growing within the clouds, and COUNTLESS KI BLASTS emerge from the clouds toward Goku and Tien like a rain.

Goku and Tien scatter, flying and deflecting the energy balls. Some go away of our sight, others hit the Lookout’s structure.

EXT. THE LOOKOUT COURTYARD - DAY Krillin and Yamcha stand side by side, gasping, tired.

Nappa’s a few meters ahead.

YAMCHA You were not joking when you said they are bad.

KRILLIN I’ll need you to distract him. I want to try a thing.

YAMCHA It’s easy to talk.

88.

Just go.

KRILLIN

Yamcha SPRINTS toward Nappa, but we STAY with Krillin. We see at the distance the two men fighting.

Krillin stretches his arm straight up, with the palm facing the sky. Gradually, something begins to form there - it’s the KIENZAN - a razor-sharp disc of Ki energy.

When it grows up to one meter in diameter, Krillin THROWS it toward Nappa. The glowing disc flies spinning like a deadly blade capable of cutting anything.

ON YAMCHA AND NAPPA Distracted in the fight. But it’s Nappa who has his back to the real deal. Yamcha sees the disc coming and moves away.

Nappa doesn’t understand that reaction until he looks over his shoulder... ... and in an almost instinctive move, Nappa tilts his head backward barely DODGING, but the disc still manages to make a small GASH in his cheek.

The disc continues its trajectory, SPLITS one of the palm trees in half and disappears in the sky. Nappa touches his wound and sees his own blood. That was close.

INT. MAIN HALL - KAMI’S TEMPLE - DAY Mr. Popo takes care of Kami-Sama’s wounds on the floor. ChiChi and Gohan arrive with a bowl of water and dry towels.

Thank you.

MR. POPO

Bulma enters the room running to them as the whole place shakes with the warriors’ battle.

BULMA Is he okay?

MR. POPO This stubborn old man has survived worse things, don’t worry.

EXT. AROUND THE LOOKOUT - DAY Vegeta is back, fighting Goku and Tien at the same time. They look tired, but they continue.

89.

Vegeta bursts a ball of energy into Tien Shinhan’s chest, knocking him out of the battle. Then he grasps Goku by his throat.

VEGETA Do not think that I will let a warrior as inferior as you win over me!

Vegeta hits Goku’s belly, POUNDING and pounding until make him spit his own blood. Vegeta concludes with a powerful UPPERCUT into Goku’s jaw sending him high up.

EXT. THE LOOKOUT COURTYARD - DAY Goku rises high in the air arching down until hit the ground on the platform.

Vegeta surges shortly afterwards stepping on Goku’s chest.

VEGETA We’re Saiyans, we’re conquerors... warriors who only live for battle.

Family only weakens.

GOKU I told you... I’m an earthling.

VEGETA Then die as one of them.

ON KRILLIN, YAMCHA AND NAPPA The three of them stop fighting the moment they hear the ship. Nappa’s eyes open wide. Oh shit.

BACK ON VEGETA Also with the same reaction of Nappa.

The ship spins 180 degrees and lowers its back door revealing Zarbon, holding Tien Shinhan by the neck, Dodoria and Frieza himself!

For a moment, Vegeta forgets Goku. Frieza and his Generals leave the ship and face the Saiyan warrior. Zarbon tosses Tien on the floor, unconscious.

FRIEZA Vegeta, you did a beautiful job finding this amazing place. But the problem is that you did not warn me, and that was your main job, but how good that we tracked you down. I would love a good explanation about this.

As Frieza waits for an answer, Nappa joins them immediately, already kneeling in reverence for Frieza.

NAPPA Lord Frieza, forgive us. We can not contact you because these earthlings gave us a bit of work.

TIGHT ON Vegeta, trying to figure his next move, with no way to go... rage and jitters rising...

Then he gathers all his courage and pulls the four-star Dragon Ball and shows it to Frieza.

VEGETA You want this, do not you, asshole? Well guess what... I’ll make the wish for the balls right in front of you. And then it will be you to bow before me.

Goku watches everything still on the floor. Vegeta’s words have no effect on Frieza.

FRIEZA Too bad, you had potential, Vegeta.

VEGETA You killed my planet! You killed my father! I will avenge all the Saiyans race because now I have the chance!

FRIEZA Of course, you will. (to Zarbon and Dodoria) Kill him and take the orb.

Vegeta falls back as Zarbon and Dodoria charge double-teaming him.

Meanwhile, Frieza floats past Goku, who tries to get up.

Unfortunately, he’s badly hurt to fight.

Frieza...?

GOKU

Frieza glances at Goku from head to toe.

FRIEZA Your power level is so mediocre that it’s not worth spending my energy.

He continues his way toward the temple. Goku limps towards Tien Shinhan, who is still fainted.

GOKU Tien, wake up!

ON KRILLIN AND YAMCHA Both of them watching Vegeta fighting Zarbon and Dodoria in mid-air.

YAMCHA Uh... which one should we help now?

KRILLIN I think it would be best if we just let them sort this out among themselves.

INT. MAIN HALL - KAMI’S TEMPLE - DAY Frieza gets in the hall. Bulma, Chi-Chi and Gohan ring KamiSama, protecting him.

BULMA Who the hell are you?

FRIEZA The Dragon Balls. Give me them.

GOHAN

Gohan advances for attack. Frieza faces at him like an insect coming. The Emperor uses his telekinesis and hurls Gohan against one of the marble columns.

CHI-CHI You son of a bitch!

After seeing her son collapsed on the ground, Chi-Chi swings a punch to Frieza, but he easily diverts and then hits her belly.

A simple and ordinary punch, but strong for a standard human, that drops Chi-Chi on the ground.

BULMA Oh my God -- Chi-Chi! Bulma catches Chi-Chi in her lap, but she faints deeply.

Frieza approaches.

FRIEZA The Dragon Balls.

BULMA Do your worst, asshole.

Frieza is about to kill Bulma when...

MR. POPO

... Mr. Popo’s voice draws Frieza’s attention.

MR. POPO (CONT’D) I give you the Dragon Balls, just do not kill anyone.

EXT. OVER THE LOOKOUT - DAY Tired and weak, Vegeta does his best against Zarbon. He does not notice Dodoria coming from behind, who WHACKS Vegeta’s back knocking him down.

EXT. THE LOOKOUT COURTYARD - CONTINUOUS BAM! Vegeta SLAMS INTO THE GROUND like a rock, blowing a CRATER in the courtyard. Zarbon and Dodoria land behind him.

On fours, Vegeta tries to get up but Dodoria shoots a Ki blast that knocks him down again.

DODORIA That is what happens when someone tries to betray Lord Frieza.

Zarbon crouches down and takes the four-star ball from Vegeta’s belt.

ZARBON That’s mine now.

Vegeta still stretches his arm trying to reach the Dragon Ball, but - Dodoria tramples SNAPPING HIS FOREARM. Vegeta SCREAMS in pain.

ON GOKU With a fainted Tien Shinhan on his arms. He sees Dodoria lifting Vegeta by the nape and throwing him out of the Lookout into a free-fall.

As Zarbon and Dodoria stride for the dropship, Goku DARTS after Vegeta.

INT. DRAGON BALLS’ VAULT ROOM - DAY Mr. Popo leads Frieza down a long, dark corridor to a massive fortified vault door.

It is made of pure rock with various symbols carved on its surface. In some of them we can identify the figure of a dragon.

In the center of the door, a lock in the form of overlapping rings. Mr. Popo approaches and begins to move these rings, spinning them in the rock like a primitive bar.

94.

Moments later, the door unlocks and opens. Mr. Popo walks away as Frieza approaches. We do not see what’s inside, just a golden glow emanating from within it.

Frieza smiles wickedly.

INT. MAIN HALL - KAMI’S TEMPLE - DAY Krillin and Yamcha burst in the hall finding Gohan and ChiChi unconscious.

YAMCHA Bulma, what happened?

BULMA Get out here!

They come across Frieza coming from the dark corridor.

Oh shit --

KRILLIN

The two prepare to fight. With a wave, Frieza jounce Krillin and Yamcha to opposite sides with his telekinesis, slamming both into the wall.

Before leaving, Frieza stops beside Kami-Sama, weak on the floor.

FRIEZA (smiling) Thank you for your cooperation.

As Frieza floats off, Mr. Popo kneels next to Kami-Sama, sadly.

MR. POPO I’m sorry, Lord Kami. I’m so sorry.

EXT. THE LOOKOUT COURTYARD - DAY Goku returns to the platform carrying an unconscious Vegeta.

He spots Frieza leaving the temple and entering back into the dropship.

As its back door closes, the ship rockets off.

INT. GALACTIC ARMY DROPSHIP - DAY Everyone inside. Zarbon shows to his master the four-star ball. Frieza pulls a RED BAG from inside his hover-chair.

It shines with a yellow light. Frieza opens it a little, lighting his face with that glow.

FRIEZA’S POV: Inside the bag: THE SIX DRAGON BALLS. Off the orbs CUT TO: EXT. MOUNTAIN RIDGE - SUNSET Sitting cross-legged in a deep meditation is Piccolo, with the jungle sea below complementing the landscape.

At that moment, Piccolo’s eyes pop open, as if he sensed a great danger. And that’s exactly it.

He stands, making a decision.

EXT. THE LOOKOUT - NIGHT Establishing.

INT. INFIRMARY - KAMI’S TEMPLE - DAY Our heroes assembled. Bandaged, wounded and defeated. Vegeta lies on one of the beds, unconscious. Chi-Chi and Gohan have not woken up yet too.

Krillin, sitting on his stretcher, stares at Vegeta with disgust.

KRILLIN Why is he here? We should have let him die.

GOKU I don’t like him either, Krillin, but Frieza wants him dead. That means he is no longer loyal to him.

TIEN SHINHAN And that’s why we should trust him? It’s too risky, Goku.

YAMCHA I agree. He can stab our back at any moment.

BULMA You do not understand -- we need every possible help. He may not be an ally but we can still use him.

TIEN SHINHAN I don’t know...

Mr. Popo enters the room toting a small bag that fits in the palm of one hand.

As they eat it, all their WOUNDS of battle HEAL in a matter of seconds. It’s something magical and inexplicable.

Bulma gasps at that.

BULMA What hell is that thing?

GOKU The Senzu beans from the Korin Temple. Have not you ever seen one before?

BULMA Of course not... what scientific properties is this thing made of?

The warriors exchange looks.

KRILLIN You better not think about it too much.

Goku gets up from his bed by removing his bandages. He’s new again, as is Tien, Yamcha and Krillin.

GOKU I’m going to stop Frieza, with or without Vegeta.

KRILLIN I always go wherever you go, Goku.

Bulma shoots Yamcha a menacing look. He also gets up, nervous.

YAMCHA GOKU PICCOLO (O.S.)

They turn around to PICCOLO, standing at the doorway.

Everyone STARTLES by his presence, except Goku.

YAMCHA (whispers to Krillin) Oh man... we’re so screwed now.

KRILLIN (whispers) Just relax... or pretend to be at least.

Goku walks up to Piccolo.

GOKU I thought you would not come.

PICCOLO First of all, I want you to know that it will not be today or tomorrow, but I will kill you and take this entire world for me.

The others react.

PICCOLO (CONT’D) But with Frieza around it would become even harder, even more if he has the Dragon Balls. So, yes, I will ally you until we solve this problem. That’s it.

EXT. VARIOUS LOCATIONS - CONTINUOUS We see different parts of the city, which now looks more like a ghost metropolis. Frieza’s soldiers patrol the skies and the streets.

In the sky: A pair of FIGHTER JETS fly toward the city.

But two KI BLASTS shoot down them, thanks to two men of Frieza nearby.

EXT. FRIEZA’S SPACESHIP - EAST CITY - NIGHT Frieza’s great ship hangs just above the city buildings, silent. A black stain on the sky.

INT. BRIDGE - FRIEZA’S SPACESHIP - NIGHT The seven Dragon Balls are reunited on a pedestal, shining.

Frieza glares at them, fascinated.

Zarbon and Dodoria are behind him just watching.

FRIEZA The legend has it that the great Shenron will emerge from the light and fulfill a single desire. (beat) Let’s see this.

INT. KAMI’S BEDCHAMBER - NIGHT The room of the great master. Kami-Sama rests lying on his bed, still weak. But he notices a figure at the door, eyeing him. Piccolo.

Piccolo.

KAMI-SAMA

PICCOLO You’re really old.

KAMI-SAMA Unfortunately time passes for us too.

PICCOLO It would even be a great time to kill you and everyone else, do not you think?

KAMI-SAMA Yes... but you’ll not.

PICCOLO How can you be so convinced of that?

KAMI-SAMA Although at first you were an enemy to us, you have matured.

Goku hands Gohan a bean. He picks it up as if it’s the most valuable thing right now.

GOKU I love you two.

He gives Gohan a strong hug and a kiss on Chi-Chi’s forehead.

But before leaving, Goku sees Vegeta on the stretcher, sleeping. He thinks a second and goes to him.

GOKU (CONT’D) If you are listening, know that I know we have our differences, but you have proven to be a great warrior in battle, and I appreciate that. Frieza destroyed your planet and I’m sorry, but do (MORE)

Goku puts a Senzu Bean on Vegeta’s open hand and then walks away with the others.

EXT. THE LOOKOUT COURTYARD - NIGHT Goku, Krillin, Yamcha, Tien Shinhan and Piccolo leave the temple while Bulma, Roshi and Mr. Popo watch.

They stand in the middle of the platform. Goku turns to Bulma and the others, he nods at them with an optimistic smile on his face.

MASTER ROSHI Grandpa Gohan would be very proud to see how far his son has come.

BULMA He knows. Somewhere he knows.

And then - our heroes TAKE OFF at a bullet speed heading toward the great evil.

EXT. BUILDING ROOFTOP - NIGHT In one of the East City buildings, Frieza, Zarbon, Dodoria and a troop gather around the seven Dragon Balls. They shine as never before. Frieza approaches them with a fixed stare.

FRIEZA The seven mystic Dragon Balls are reunited. Now fulfill my desire: give me immortal life so that I may endure throughout the universe!

Frieza closes his eyes expecting some reaction from the orbs.

They keep flashing.

BEAT as everyone waits.

NOTHING HAPPENS. Frieza looks at himself but he feels nothing different.

Sir?

DODORIA

FRIEZA I don’t understand...

(MORE)

FRIEZA (CONT’D) (shouts) Come on, make my wish! I order!

Zarbon and Dodoria exchange glances, confused. Frieza is starting to get impatient.

FRIEZA (CONT’D) Why... why? WHY?! WHY?!

ZARBON Lord Frieza, maybe we should -Frieza turns and gives Zarbon a look which stops him in his tracks.

FRIEZA Don’t say a word.

Then he turns back to the Dragon Balls, indignant.

FRIEZA (CONT’D) This makes no sense. They’re all here together, what else is missing?!

The spheres just shine and nothing else. Frieza makes a decision.

FRIEZA (CONT’D) Let’s go back to Namek and make that old Namekian say how to use the Dragon Balls.

ZARBON What about this planet?

FRIEZA Destroy it. It’s just a pile of useless junk.

Frieza motions for one soldier to keep the Dragon Balls back in the bag.

But at that moment, the scouters of Zarbon and Dodoria beep frantically.

DODORIA (urgently) Lord Frieza!

What now?!

FRIEZA

A THUNDEROUS SONIC BOOM sounds in the air, which makes everyone in the roof look up.

Then A TERRIBLE WHISTLE. As Zarbon runs trying to shield Frieza... ... SOMETHING EXPLODES through the building roof - a BLUR so fast that we barely understand what actually happened.

EXT. EAST CITY STREETS - NIGHT WIDE ON: The building skyscraper was BLOWN APART. ANGLE ON: Frieza, lying on the asphalt out of his chair.

Behind him, Zarbon and Dodoria also fallen. The impact was hard.

They stand up as the building debris shower around them.

Frieza’s hover-chair was completely destroyed. The other soldiers are dead on the ground.

The fury within Frieza is immeasurable. He clenches his teeth staring at something beyond the camera.

REVERSE ANGLE REVEALS to us THE Z FIGHTERS. All together side by side in an EPIC SHOT - Goku, Piccolo, Krillin, Yamcha and Tien Shinhan. Ready to save the planet at any cost.

In the Goku’s right hand, the Dragon Balls bag. Frieza’s rage only increases.

GOKU (re: the bag) You want this? You’re going to have to kill us all first.

FRIEZA With pleasure.

Overhead, Frieza’s soldiers swarm them at the height of the buildings. Dozens soon turn into hundreds.

YAMCHA Great. There are many of them and few of us.

TIEN SHINHAN But we have to be enough anyway.

104.

GOKU You already know what to do.

Frieza can not, in any case, take this bag.

PICCOLO Those two next to Frieza are the ones with the strongest Ki of the soldiers. We need to beat them down fast.

KRILLIN It was an honor to fight alongside you guys.

They all assume their fighting poses. The two groups facing each other. The tension increases. All we hear is the noise of the wind in the city.

After a short beat: FRIEZA KILL THEM ALL! All Frieza’s men above PLUNGE into the street. The Z Fighters CHARGE as Frieza, Zarbon and Dodoria do the same towards them.

GOKU IS KNOCKED OFF THE STREET BY FRIEZA WHO DRAGS HIM IN MID-FLIGHT INTO A PAWN SHOP! Piccolo and Tien fight Zarbon and Krillin and Yamcha fight Dodoria. The foot soldiers land on the street, making it into a chaotic battlefield.

INT. PAWN SHOP - NIGHT Goku CRASHES through each store’s shelf until he hits the wall, cracking it entirely. The Dragon Balls’ bag is still in his hand.

Frieza stands, but keeping his distance. Goku recomposes himself.

FRIEZA Your last and only chance: give me the bag and maybe I’ll let you be my pet.

GOKU It was like I said...

Goku tosses the bag away in the shop.

105.

GOKU (CONT’D) ... you will have to kill me to get it. And I’m not easy to give up.

He stands in pose of a martial art, smiling.

Insolent!

FRIEZA

They charge straight into one other; Goku runs as Frieza flies a few inches off the ground. And, when they collide... ... BOOM! Goku and Frieza CLASH THEIR FISTS in a SONIC EXPLOSION! The SHOCK WAVE shoves everything around them farther away. Every glass SHATTERS. Then they start a sequence of attacks, so fast that their hands and feet move in a blur.

Due to his small stature, Frieza fights floating at Goku’s height, but that doesn’t stop him from being terribly deadly.

EXT. EAST CITY STREETS - NIGHT With Piccolo, fighting three Frieza’s men at the same time, but they are not even a little match for the Namekian.

Piccolo knocks out two of them, and the third gets a kick that sends him into one of the buildings. As Piccolo gets hit on the back by a Ki blast: ON TIEN SHINHAN AND ZARBON Both in a violent struggle.

Then Zarbon jumps back, taking distance. He makes room for four soldiers advance against Tien firing their energies.

ON KRILLIN Krillin is agile and fast. He knocks down the soldiers without much difficulty. We do not see Yamcha nearby until... ... WHAM! He slams into a car hood with Dodoria on top of him, wanting to stick him with his claws, but Yamcha holds his hands.

YAMCHA Krillin - help!

Krillin takes aim and fires a Ki blast that pushes Dodoria off Yamcha, smashing into a building wall.

They nod. Thanks. But they do not have time to rest since Frieza’s soldiers advance.

ON PICCOLO He fights more brutally than all his other comrades. His fists draw blood from his targets.

Suddenly, a flash of light comes from behind. Piccolo grabs one of the soldiers and turns back, using him as a shield he’s hit FULL ON by an energy beam released by Zarbon.

Zarbon dashes toward Piccolo and starts to fight.

ON TIEN SHINHAN Floating a few feet above the streets, while two soldiers hold his arms and a third pounds his belly.

But our hero strikes this third one with both feet, then he leans each palm on the chest of the other two and shoots a Ki blast powerful enough to make a HOLE in their bodies.

As the corpses drop, Tien BULLETS OFF there.

INT. PAWN SHOP - NIGHT The shop became a terrible mess. Frieza is as fast as Goku.

His fighting skills are better than we thought.

In an uppercut, Frieza sends Goku UPWARDS - THROUGH THE CEILING. Then he LEAPS after the hero.

We STAY here to see: the Dragon Balls - alone among the store rubble.

EXT. SKIES OF EAST CITY - NIGHT Below, the pawn shop. Its rooftop EXPLODES as Goku rises thanks to Frieza’s blow.

Goku stabilizes in the air. Frieza appears right in front of him. They hang in front of each other. Goku wipes blood dripping from his mouth but with a smile on his face.

FRIEZA What? Why are you smiling?

GOKU Nothing. I’m just happy to be fighting with someone so powerful.

(MORE)

GOKU (CONT’D) This gives me more courage to fight.

Frieza understands that as debauchery. He BOLTS straight toward Goku. They both go back to dueling.

In addition to using his fists and feet, Frieza also whips his TAIL, but Goku uses his agility to dodge it.

In a moment of the fight - WHAM! Goku hits Frieza’s face hard, making him spit his own dark blood. Frieza touches the blood running down his chin. He’s not used to it.

EXT. EAST CITY STREETS - NIGHT Krillin flies at the height of the buildings as a group of soldiers pursuit him firing energy balls at him.

CAMERA TILTS DOWN TO Yamcha and Tien, with their backs to the other fighting against a hive of Frieza’s soldiers, and also talking.

YAMCHA Do you remember that fat guy who stumbled into his own bursts in the Martial Arts Tournament?

TIEN SHINHAN Yeah -- why?

YAMCHA I think I saw him two weeks ago, but I was not sure.

TIEN SHINHAN Good to know.

A strange light illuminates them from above. They bow their heads and see Dodoria, throwing a medium-sized ball of energy.

TIEN SHINHAN (CONT’D) Spread out!

As Yamcha and Tien move away across the street... ... KA-BOOM! Dodoria’s power BLOWS A CRATER into the street, killing some Frieza’s soldiers.

ON PICCOLO AND ZARBON -

Elsewhere, Piccolo and Zarbon blast out from inside a building, in a close-range combat.

Piccolo grabs Zarbon by the throat and throws him straight up to the building. Zarbon lands his feet on the building wall and PROPELS himself back to Piccolo.

Zarbon STRIKES as Piccolo shields. A mighty COLLISION. The impact shock overturns all the cars near them.

EXT. SKIES OF EAST CITY - NIGHT Back at the aerial brawl: Goku and Frieza cross the sky as they fight each other. Goku hits Frieza and vice versa. Blood squirts from each blow.

Frieza always tries to slash Goku’s head with his tail, but the hero ducks and CLUTCHES firmly that tail. He SPINS Frieza twice by his tail and FLINGS him down toward the city.

From Goku position, we track Frieza’s path downwards, getting smaller and smaller... ... until he CRASHES INTO A BUILDING - disappearing from our sight completely. Goku waits.

A beat.

Then - the whole building COLLAPSES - it begins to tip slowly, and from within it Frieza flies out in our direction.

Goku prepares.

ON FRIEZA Fire in the eyes. He shoots with all his might an energy beam for Goku.

ON GOKU As he sees the beam coming, he joins his hands and begins to channel his Ki there. When a light ball forms, he shoots toward Frieza’s attack!

As the two energies COLLIDE in a thunderous racket, they generate a blinding flash of light on the screen.

Then the image starts to bleach.

To WHITE OUT.

INT. INFIRMARY - KAMI’S TEMPLE - NIGHT From the WHITE OUT, an image resolves.

CLOSE ON VEGETA’S FACE: Still sleeping. There are serious injuries all over his face.

A little away from him, Bulma is with Gohan next to Chi-Chi. BULMA Your mother is a very strong woman, Gohan.

GOHAN I think she’s the only person my father is afraid of fighting.

They smile. Gohan looks at Vegeta.

GOHAN (CONT’D) I can not feel comfortable with that man there. He tried to kill us.

BULMA I know, but Goku demanded that he be treated. Honestly, sometimes I do not understand your father. (beat) Can you get me a glass of water?

Gohan walks out. Bulma stares Vegeta starkly, weighing.

She makes a decision and approaches him. She looks at his wounds - how can she still be alive? - Then she notices the Senzu Bean on his hand.

VEGETA Get out of my way before I kill you.

BULMA Calm down, you ingrate. We all wanted to let you rot down there, but Goku insisted we save you, and that’s what we did. And now he is out there, risking his life to finish your boss!

VEGETA He’s a fool if he thinks he’s going to defeat Frieza. Kakarot is a low-class warrior.

He drops the beans on the floor. Bulma’s fury erupts: BULMA (in one breath) The fate of the whole world will be decided today, you asshole!

Maybe it’s your last day alive and you want to stay in this bed like a sick bastard? Are you going to let Frieza think he got rid of you? Eat the damn bean, recover your power and do what needs to be done. (beat) You owe it to Goku.

Bulma turns around and returns to Chi-Chi. Vegeta just stares - he’d never seen a woman with that attitude.

A moment later, Gohan comes back with a glass of water and joins Bulma. Vegeta tilts his head down.

HIS POV: The Senzu Bean that he dropped, lying on the ground.

Off Vegeta, considering that...

EXT. BUILDING ROOFTOP - NIGHT Krillin lands on the terrace. Behind him, in the sky, a Galactic Army squad coming for him.

In a few seconds, they all hang over Krillin circling any escape route. Each one points his hands at Krillin, ready to shoot.

But Krillin puts his hands close to the center of his face and...

KRILLIN Solar flare! ... like Nappa, Krillin uses this technique again, blinding all Frieza’s soldiers nearby letting them stunned.

KRILLIN (CONT’D) Now Yamcha!

Yamcha emerges from behind a wall with an upwards facing open palm, and placing the other hand around the adjacent arm for support.

He charges up his Ki by forming a ball of energy on his palm - the size of a basketball - this is THE SPIRIT BALL. When it gets ready, Yamcha throws it to the soldiers above.

Yamcha GUIDES the ball making movements with his index finger and the middle finger, as if they were a remote control. The ball obeys exactly what he does.

In the blink of an eye, the glowing ball ZIGZAGS THROUGH each Frieza soldier as Yamcha commands it. And on the last target - the ball hits it and then EXPLODES the soldier in a thousand pieces.

Krillin and Yamcha celebrate with a high five.

EXT. EAST CITY STREETS - NIGHT Several foot soldiers dead on the floor scattered over the street. Tien Shinhan and Dodoria are the only ones standing, one staring at each other in the distance.

Piccolo lands next to Tien, as well as Zarbon next to Dodoria.

TIEN SHINHAN Having a little trouble?

PICCOLO Nothing that I can not solve. You? TIEN SHINHAN I’ve had better days.

Piccolo removes his turban and his cloak. Zarbon and Dodoria crack their fist knuckles. Tien makes those moves that reveal his third eye.

PICCOLO I hope this eye is not just a garnish.

TIEN SHINHAN It helps me focus on the battle and not miss a blow against my enemies.

Let’s see.

And THEN - the four warriors run straight into each other. Piccolo starts a fierce fight with Zarbon again.

Before Dodoria reach Tien, he rips a LAMP POST out of the ground. Swings for Tien and BAM! HITS TIEN sending him aside, CRASHING through a brick wall.

Dodoria drops the lamp post and stands in front of the wreckage of the wall, waiting for Tien.

DODORIA Don’t tell me you gave up on this attack.

Suddenly - BOOM! The pile of bricks explodes OUTWARD spreading stones in all directions.

TIGHT ON Dodoria as he covers his face with his arms. It’s then that we hear a strong sound of a STROKE that makes Dodoria spit blood from the mouth.

REVEAL - Tien Shinhan with his leg stretched and his foot deep into Dodoria’s belly. His opponent didn’t even see him coming.

While Dodoria still suffers with the pain, Tien flips and ROUNDHOUSES KICK his head with the other leg, making him fly along the street.

TIEN SHINHAN I’m just starting.

ON PICCOLO AND ZARBON In a mid-air battle. As they change blows, they float higher, moving farther off the ground, but still at the level of the buildings.

Piccolo gets a momentum and kicks Zarbon’s chest by pushing him into the building, through a window. As Piccolo goes after him: EXT. SKIES OF EAST CITY - NIGHT WHAM! Frieza punches Goku. But in the next second, Goku hits Frieza hard. They take distance from each other to catch their breath.

FRIEZA I think I underestimated you. The Saiyan race has this craze to impress us, doesn’t it?

GOKU Don’t call me that.

FRIEZA A renegade Saiyan. That’s new. But it does not matter, you will die the same way.

Frieza spreads his arms and legs. Fists clenched. His body begins to engage in a powerful energy.

FRIEZA (CONT’D) You should feel honored. Few individuals have seen this transformation.

GOKU What? Transformation?

With a loud cry, Frieza’s Ki erupts and generates a gust that pushes Goku a little back. What Goku witnesses: FRIEZA IS MORPHING before his eyes. His body armor RIPS OFF of his body as POWERFUL MUSCLES bulge beneath. Cracks begin to grow all over his body.

And finally - BOOM! HE IMPLODES. For a moment we do not see Frieza anymore. Pieces of his body whiz past Goku. Something strange is happening.

As the explosion light settles, it reveals to us - FRIEZA IN HIS ULTIMATE FORM. A little bigger than his primordial form, taller, muscular, gray skin and no horns.

He TELEPORTS to a few inches from Goku. Face to face.

FRIEZA What? You have nothing to say?

Off Goku’s shocked face... ... Frieza headbutts him hard. As Goku leans back, Frieza joins his hands over his head and BRINGS THEM DOWN, like a hammer striking Goku... ... sending him downwards fast.

INT. OFFICE - HIGH RISE - NIGHT Piccolo and Zarbon destroyed the whole site. Each punch between them makes the room shake.

Then both flip back. They begin to channel their Ki to shoot at each other. However, A SONIC BOOM calls their attention.

Something is coming. And: VEGETA LUNGES through the window and WALLOPS Zarbon so fullforced hard, he crosses the entire floor of the building and leaves through the other side of it.

VEGETA He’s mine now. We have things to deal.

And Vegeta rockets off after Zarbon.

INT. RESTAURANT - NIGHT A restaurant that sits at the top of one of the buildings. We had a great view of the city over here.

Something oncoming from outside. It’s Zarbon, coming towards us. He crashes through the window and hits the ground with big impact.

Moments later, Vegeta lands before him, refreshed, healthy, while Zarbon is exactly opposite.

VEGETA Come on, Zarbon, get up. I don’t want to kill you on the ground, it would be too humiliating. Even for you.

Zarbon gets on his feet with difficulty.

ZARBON You damn traitor... I’m going to kill you!

VEGETA No. I’m going to kill you, and then Frieza.

As Vegeta STRIKES OUT toward his enemy CUT TO: EXT. EAST CITY STREETS - NIGHT Dodoria, Tien, Krillin and Yamcha in a tense fight. The three friends fight together, matching precise combos and attacks.

Dodoria can not keep up with them.

Yamcha gives a kick that makes Dodoria fly and slam on the side of a car. As he stands again, angry - Piccolo comes landing a flying kick to Dodoria that sends him to the end of the street.

KRILLIN Piccolo? What happened to the other guy? Did you kill him?

PICCOLO No. Vegeta appeared and wanted to settle the accounts with him. Now let’s finish this.

INT. HOTEL LOBBY - NIGHT A luxurious lobby. Everything seems quiet until Goku CRASHES DOWN through the ceiling, hitting the ground.

Frieza descends quietly, floating next to Goku. When Goku tries to rise again, Frieza whips his tail into Goku’s back, knocking him down again.

FRIEZA Is that all you have for me?

Suddenly, he feels something. A familiar Ki. FRIEZA (CONT’D) (hisses) Vegeta.

In a heartbeat, Frieza BULLETS off there leaving Goku lying on the ground.

INT. RESTAURANT - NIGHT Zarbon tries to hit Vegeta, but he’s very weak and wounded.

Vegeta dodges from all his moves without difficulties.

VEGETA What a shame.

Vegeta kneels Zarbon’s belly and then hits his back, knocking him on fours.

ZARBON I’m going to... rip your heart out...!

Vegeta calmly retreats from the enemy by snapping his fingers. He has full control of the fight.

In a desperate act, Zarbon rises and shoots a ball of energy.

Vegeta bends down DUCKING Zarbon’s attack as he points his palm at him.

Vegeta fires a mighty energy beam that DECAPITATES Zarbon at the same instant - obliterating his head into the void.

Vegeta stares at the dead headless corpse.

Then he senses something that frightens him.

VEGETA This Ki...!

FRIEZA ROCKETS INTO THE RESTAURANT - he grabs Vegeta by his throat and drags him out of the building.

EXT. EAST CITY STREETS - NIGHT Dodoria gets several energy balls that Krillin and Yamcha throw at him. Tien lands behind them with his hands together in a triangle shape.

Move away!

TIEN SHINHAN

TIEN SHINHAN’S POV: We see Dodoria through the triangular “window” of his hands. A perfect sight.

And he fires his TRI-BEAM CANNON - an energy blast almost as wide as the street that bathes Dodoria completely.

But Dodoria remains alive, badly wounded. Damaged armor.

Injuries all over his body.

DODORIA I’m still alive... you idiots!

That’s when Piccolo arrives with his index and middle fingers of one hand to the forehead and charging enough Ki to attack.

KRILLIN That was just a distraction, idiot.

Piccolo points his fingers unleashing his SPECIAL BEAM CANNON - a beam in a drill shape that rips through Dodoria’s chest at incredible speed.

It does not take long until Dodoria finally falls face-first on the ground, dead.

INT. CONFERENCE ROOM - OFFICE BUILDING - NIGHT Frieza bursts in the building, where he slings Vegeta across the room. He rolls down the floor wrecking everything in his path.

FRIEZA (walking toward Vegeta) I liked you, Vegeta. Your potential was far beyond the rest.

But you decided to commit the nonsense of betraying me.

VEGETA It’s better than being your doormat picking up your trash.

Vegeta rises and dashes to attack. Frieza deflects his body from each Vegeta’s moves, then with a powerful punch, he SLAMS the Saiyan onto the ground.

FRIEZA I gave you the opportunity to live and serve me, but this is the curse of the Saiyans. Always thinking that they are invincible, (MORE)

FRIEZA (CONT’D) when in fact they are just a bunch of brainless uncontrolled beings.

VEGETA No... you did not destroy the Saiyans’ planet for that, but because did you fear that someone would become as strong as you and overcome it. The Legendary Warrior.

Shut up!

FRIEZA

Frieza lifts Vegeta by the collar and BASHES his face.

FRIEZA (CONT’D) I fear no one! I am Frieza, the man who rules the universe!

Everyone bow before me!

Suddenly, Frieza gets hit in the back by an energy ball. He releases Vegeta and turns to Goku, who stands behind him.

FRIEZA (CONT’D) Wait your turn to die.

He turns his attention to Vegeta, but Goku throws another ball. It does not cause any damage in Frieza, just makes him angry. Now he faces Goku.

FRIEZA (CONT’D) Okay, you’ll die first.

Goku clenches his fists, separate his legs and he begins to energize all his Ki. Frieza stops seeing that power.

As Goku shouts loudly, we see an energy aura whirling his body, but with a CRIMSON tone. Both Frieza and Vegeta are surprised.

KAIO-KEN!

GOKU

GOKU LASHES INTO FRIEZA in a blink of an eye - Frieza doesn’t have time to react and receives a rapid-fire sequence of nonstop blows from Goku.

As if he had injected adrenaline into himself, Goku PUMMELS Frieza like a punching bag. In the final right hook... ... Goku sends Frieza out of the building, vanishing from view. Moments later, the crimson aura goes out and Goku rests his hands on his knees, panting and tired.

GOKU (CONT’D) Wow, that’s was crazy.

He notes Vegeta on the ground.

GOKU (CONT’D) Vegeta, good see you here. This guy is so much more powerful than I thought, and he’s still turned in another shape! Can you believe that?

Goku stretches his hand to Vegeta.

GOKU (CONT’D) Let’s end with him.

Outraged, Vegeta pushes Goku’s hand and stands up by himself.

VEGETA Do not touch me.

GOKU Alright. You’re the boss.

EXT. EAST CITY STREETS - NIGHT Frieza drops and SLAMS INTO THE GROUND like a meteor, blowing cratering the street already littered with pieces of concrete and steel.

Frieza pulls himself out the rubble, standing before Piccolo, Krillin, Tien Shinhan and Yamcha down in the street. Vegeta and Goku join them.

VEGETA Kakarot, can you use that trick again? Looks like it worked well before.

GOKU Not now. If I use it often, I may die. This technique spends a lot of energy, I need to recover.

PICCOLO We’re going to have to do our best to destroy him.

The Z Fighters takes on battle pose, ready for the final showdown. Frieza also gets ready.

CHI-CHI These Senzu Beans give a really good feel. So, Goku and the others are fighting down there?

BULMA Yes. Vegeta also ate one of the beans and went to help. I hope so.

GOHAN No need to worry, Mom. Daddy is very strong.

Then Kami-Sama enters the room being aided by Mr. Popo and Master Roshi.

KAMI-SAMA I was in my bedroom thinking how unfair only I can have notion of what is going on down there. So I came here to share with you.

GOHAN Can you see everything that happens on Earth from above?

KAMI-SAMA Yes, my child, it is my duty to know everything.

He sits on one of the beds and concentrates, as if he were in a meditation. When he closes his eyes, he begins to see beyond.

KAMI-SAMA (CONT’D) I see. They are in the center of the city... alive. Everyone fighting bravely against Frieza EXT. EAST CITY SKYLINE - NIGHT A distant view of the city. We can hear echoes of the battle going on in the center.

Then one of the buildings starts to COLLAPSE. It’s tipping down from the horizon line.

EXT. EAST CITY STREETS - NIGHT In the core of battle, Frieza fights all Z Fighters at the same time.

A few yards back, that building we saw fall. Dust and smoke swell up and disperse across the streets as the building wracks.

Krillin gets hit and flies meters BACK. The same thing happens with Yamcha. They lie side by side on the floor.

Tien has no chance. He takes a heavy kick that throws him against a wall. Goku and Vegeta are still on fire.

While those three struggle, the dust wave of the fallen building arrives at them ENGULFING the whole street. We see nothing but the fighters, the whole scenario turned gray.

It’s like a desert sandstorm.

Frieza beats Goku away and does the same with Vegeta. They disappear into the dust around.

FRIEZA Come on! Did not you want to kill me? I’m still waiting.

Without realizing, Piccolo surprises Frieza from behind and strangles him tightly, holding him there.

PICCOLO It’s a very small world for two conquerors.

FRIEZA Do not touch me, you foul Namekian!

Frieza headbutts Piccolo with his nape and then kicks him away as well as the others.

Kienzan!

KRILLIN (O.S.)

Frieza turns to where came that voice. All he sees ahead is smoke and just it. But soon a LIGHT begins to grow, and fast.

It’s Krillin’s DESTRUCTO DISC. The cutting disc comes straight toward Frieza. Frieza lowers quickly to deviate, but... ... as it passes above him, the disc CUTS OFF the tip of Frieza’s TAIL! The Kienzan disappears in the smoke. Frieza looks at the floor and sees the tail piece there, bleeding. Full of fury, he boosts his Ki blowing the smoke with the gale.

Krillin notices the part of Frieza plucked out.

I got him!

KRILLIN

Frieza gives a predator look at Krillin.

Oh crap.

KRILLIN (CONT’D)

Frieza points his index finger and fires his piercing ray.

When it seems like it will be the end for Krillin... ... Goku JUMPS him roughly to the ground, saving him from the purple laser.

You okay?

GOKU

KRILLIN I... I think so.

GOKU You need to be more careful.

Krillin nods, nervously.

ON TIEN, YAMCHA AND FRIEZA Unfortunately, those two men are no match for Frieza at all.

Frieza pushes the two away with simple blows. But then Vegeta comes, hitting two punches on the enemy, but Frieza buries his knee in the Saiyan’s belly.

Vegeta collapses on his knees grabbing his belly as he spits blood on the street.

CUT TO Goku, viewing Vegeta suffering just ahead of him and Frieza about to kill him.

GOKU (CONT’D) I have to try. (then) Kaio-Ken! The crimson aura wraps Goku again. Then he dashes across the street as we: CUT BACK TO Frieza, raising his hand above his head. Vegeta is down on his knees in front of him, still bruised.

As a hangman uses his ax, Frieza brings down his hand about to kill Vegeta, but... ... WHAM! Goku RAMS FRIEZA IN MID-FLIGHT - it’s as if a pedestrian was hit by a car - he takes Frieza along the length of the street.

MOVING with Goku flying down the street, as he POUNDS Frieza’s face several times in a row.

But Frieza grasps Goku’s fist and retaliates. Goku loses his balance and falls into the street, scraping through the pavement.

They duel again, with Goku still seizing his Kaio-Ken moment.

But Frieza sinks his fist so hard into Goku’s belly that the Kaio-Ken’s aura vanishes instantly.

Goku drops on fours spitting blood at Frieza’s feet.

FRIEZA Why do you persist? The result of this fight is already obvious.

Goku stares into Frieza’s eyes with a smile on his face again.

GOKU You can hurt me all you want, Frieza. I will not stop.

Frieza grinds his teeth after hearing those words. He swats Goku’s face, slamming him onto the ground hard.

At the end of the street he sees Vegeta, Piccolo, Krillin, Yamcha and Tien gathering. Frieza walks toward them with a victorious pose.

FRIEZA Come to your death. I’m already tired of this planet.

PICCOLO If we want to make it work, we have to do it together.

Understood?

The others nod. Piccolo begins channeling his Special Beam Cannon again. Vegeta does the same for his Galick Cannon.

Yamcha, Tien Shinhan and Krillin also gather their Ki in their hands.

Each of them energizes their respective attack.

FRIEZA Do you think this will help you?

So you are very wrong!

Frieza dashes straight for them. As he approaches, ready to an ultimate onslaught...

NOW!

PICCOLO

All four of them fire their POWER at the same time towards Frieza! They MERGE into one energy beam.

Frieza HALTS halfway and CATCHES THE ENERGY WITH HIS BARE HANDS - he embraces the ball, holding it. He tries to push back, and he is succeeding!

ANGLE ON: Goku, still lying on the ground. But then, he sees Frieza and that huge bundle of energy around him.

KRILLIN We need more power!

It’s at this moment that he arrives: GOKU, hovering above the others. Krillin looks up with hope.

He hangs in a familiar pose: hands pulled to his rips - KAME CATCH STYLE. Between his palms is A GLOWING BALL OF WHITE ENERGY - HE EMBRACES THE BALL and GOKU KAMEHAMEHAAAAAAAA! A TITANIC BLUE/WHITE BLAST OF ENERGY EXPLODES FROM HIS HANDS!

It fuses with the other powers by becoming a single ray against Frieza. When Goku’s Kamehameha arrives, Frieza can’t take that power more time.

FRIEZA

FRIEZA IS SWALLOWED UP BY THE POWER DISAPPEARING WITHIN IT! INT. INFIRMARY - KAMI’S TEMPLE - NIGHT Everyone is apprehensive. Kami-sama continues with closed eyes, seeing everything.

Then he lets out a smile at the corner of his mouth.

KAMI-SAMA They did it. They defeated Frieza.

The moment of tension turns into celebration. Bulma, Gohan, Roshi and Chi-Chi hug each other happily.

EXT. EAST CITY STREETS - NIGHT That whole block has become a wasteland of rubble and debris.

Stores and buildings were obliterated with that great power.

The Z Fighters rest on the ground, exhausted. But finally relieved.

YAMCHA I can not believe. Finally, it’s over.

TIEN SHINHAN Yeah, we saved the world. (to Yamcha; laughing) We saved the world!

Yamcha and Tien do a high five.

KRILLIN Man, I’m crazy to take a shower. (beat) Wait -- where are the Dragon Balls?

GOKU Do not worry, I left them at a store on the other side of city.

PICCOLO Do not be happy so soon. We have an issue to solve.

All eyes turn to Vegeta.

VEGETA Is it now that you kill me? Better hurry.

GOKU We’ve had too many deaths for today, we do not need one more.

VEGETA I did what I should. I owe you nothing now, Kakarot.

GOKU You do not know why I wanted you alive, did you? (off Vegeta’s look) We have a fight to finish, the one that Frieza interrupted.

Everyone REACTS. KRILLIN Goku, do you know what you just said?!

Goku just laughs.

GOKU You know I love a good fight, and Vegeta proved himself to be a good fighter. (to Vegeta) So, what do you say?

TIEN SHINHAN What? This is serious?

Vegeta stares, still confused. But before he could respond anything - he FEELS a Ki. So do all the others.

The moment of relief turns into FEAR in a matter of seconds.

YAMCHA No... this can not be true...!

INT. INFIRMARY - KAMI’S TEMPLE - NIGHT With Kami-Sama it’s no different, his face tenses again.

GOHAN Mr. Kami-Sama, some problem?

KAMI-SAMA How... how did he survive?

EXT. EAST CITY STREETS - NIGHT The Z Fighters stand looking at something off camera that make them freeze. Just by their expressions, we realize: we’re so screwed.

REVERSE ANGLE REVEALS what they gaze FRIEZA IS BACK! He emerges out the rubble of the city. His left eye does not open anymore, his body is marked with bruises and various wounds. It’s a miracle he’s standing.

Our heroes are in SHOCK. No one can move a muscle. In a slow movement, Frieza points his index finger at the gang.

FRIEZA’S POV: He sights directly at Krillin.

The tip of his finger pulses a simple glow. And in the next moment, Krillin begins to LEVITATE higher and higher off the ground thanks to Frieza’s telekinesis.

KRILLIN What the hell?!

Krillin!

YAMCHA

GOKU Frieza, stop this!

KRILLIN I can’t move!

Goku enters in despair.

GOKU Frieza, whatever you want to do with him, do it to me! Please!

Frieza does not listen. Krillin continues to rise.

GOKU (CONT’D) DAMNIT FRIEZA! KRILLIN Goku, help me!

TIEN SHINHAN I do not have the energy to fly so high.

PICCOLO None of us have.

Suddenly, Krillin stops in mid-air.

TIME SLOWS as Frieza stares at Goku with his sadistic and cruel smile. Their eyes meet for a second - they know what comes next.

BACK TO NORMAL SPEED as the same hand that Frieza uses to levitate Krillin, now he clenches it.

AT THAT INSTANT GOKU!!

KRILLIN

KRILLIN EXPLODES! Nothing left of his body.

ON THE Z FIGHTERS FACES: All in shock looking upward as their friend turned into dust.

INT. INFIRMARY - KAMI’S TEMPLE - NIGHT Kami-Sama gives a deep sigh, and only now does he open his eyes. The others in the room are afflicted.

KAMI-SAMA Krillin... is dead. Frieza killed him. I’m sorry.

The emotional impact takes them hard. Bulma just falls to her knees, eyes full of tears.

EXT. EAST CITY STREETS - NIGHT Yamcha and Tien can not hold back their tears.

YAMCHA No... Krillin...

VEGETA We are all dead.

Frieza’s macabre laugh echoes down the street. He’s really enjoying it. Meanwhile, Goku hangs his head, we do not see his face.

FRIEZA (laughing) And now, Goku? Did I actually hurt you? I guess so! So who will be next? There are many choices here.

He points his index finger at the other warriors, moving his hand at random.

FRIEZA (CONT’D) Do not worry, Goku, you will be the last. I want you to see everyone die before.

Goku says nothing. He continues with his head down, body trembling, fists clenched hard.

FRIEZA (CONT’D) (re: Piccolo) What about you? I never really liked Namekians.

Then - A THUNDER makes Frieza stop. He looks up at the sky and sees dense crackling clouds clustering above the city.

It’s strange, unnatural.

When Frieza looks back at Goku... ... AN ENERGY AURA WRAPS HIM. But this is different, it has a slight golden glow, but is still weak.

Goku...?

TIEN SHINHAN

Lightning bolts flash, the wind blows stronger. The ground begins to tremble. Frieza doesn’t have a good feeling about that.

FRIEZA What’s going on? What’s this?

When Goku rises his head, HE SCREAMS LOUD ENOUGH FOR THE WHOLE WORLD HEAR. We do not see his pupils anymore. The golden aura gets BRIGHTER. Every strand of hair on Goku’s head STANDS UP. And finally - Goku emanates a BLINDING FLASH OF LIGHT as his aura BLASTS with power. Everyone covers their eyes under that radiance.

WIDE ON: A single spot of light shines from the street to the clouds. Like a lightning bolt coming from underneath.

When that luminosity lessens, everyone on the street sees what really happened: GOKU HAS TURNED INTO A SUPER SAIYAN! The image is almost mythical. The aura around him shines like a blazing fire. His hair, standing up, emits a golden glow and sways like living fire. His muscles ripping.

Everyone is speechless seeing that scene. Mainly Vegeta. All Frieza can feel now is TERROR. CLOSE IN on Goku’s face, staring at Frieza with pure rage.

Goku DASHES toward Frieza in a heartbeat. He’s almost like a living blur. And he stops a few inches from Frieza.

GOKU (grim) I will never forgive you, Frieza.

FRIEZA W-Wait a minute -BAM! GOKU UPPERCUTS FRIEZA SO HARD THAT EJECTS HIM OFF THE STREET UPWARDS. Goku TAKES OFF after Frieza. The other warriors just watch, THUNDERSTRUCK. Vegeta falls on his knees, staring into the void.

VEGETA (astonished; to himself) The Legendary Super Saiyan...

ON FRIEZA Following him as he flies wildly across the entire city thanks to Goku’s blow, crashing into a building and getting out by its other side.

As soon as Frieza leaves the building, Goku emerges next to him and STRIKES him again, bringing him back down.

Frieza PLUMMETS fast. Seconds before he hits the street Goku materializes right below in his path, staring at him as he comes.

Goku stretches his clenched fist up, letting Frieza LAND INTO GOKU’S FIST with his belly. He has never spit as much blood as now.

With the other fist, Goku hits Frieza’s face, sending him backwards. While Frieza is lying on the ground, Goku paces to him calmly.

GOKU You killed innocents from an entire city, and only God knows how many more cities you destroyed by the galaxy.

When he gets close to Frieza, the Emperor tries to attack with a Ki blast, but Goku clutches his hand tightly. Frieza moans in pain.

GOKU (CONT’D) And you also killed Krillin. My best friend since childhood.

CRACK! Goku SNAPS Frieza’s hand. He CRIES OUT loudly.

Desperate, Frieza punches Goku’s chest, but he feels nothing.

It’s like hitting a steel wall. Goku retaliates with a powerful kick into Frieza’s chest.

Frieza flies yards back, ripping through the asphalt.

With difficulty, Frieza stands. He turns back, almost fainting just to find: HIS POV: Goku DARTS straight into him. RAGING. GOKU SAILS AT FRIEZA WITH BLISTERING, POWERFUL MARTIAL ARTS COMBINATIONS! He turns into a pure fighting machine, hitting Frieza every second possible as they skitter across the street. Frieza is totally passive in that situation.

They move from street to street, from block to block paving a way through the debris.

Goku attacks with unrelenting fury, fists pounding Frieza like jackhammers at high speed.

And he finalizes with an UPPERCUT INTO FRIEZA’S CHIN! Sending him up fast. HE SCREAMS THROUGH THE BUILDING FRAME, PLOWING UP CONCRETE AND STEEL. Frieza hangs in the air as he passes the building. He looks down and sees Goku, looking at him. Then he lifts his only healthy arm with a pointing finger upward to generate the... ... SUPERNOVA. The same one he used to destroy Planet Vegeta.

ON THE Z FIGHTERS Far away, they react to the great blazing sphere above the city.

ON FRIEZA AND GOKU Goku has his eyes locked on Frieza, cold.

FRIEZA (yelling) The story repeats itself! You will die the same way I killed your race before!

FRIEZA THROWS THE SUPERNOVA TOWARD GOKU! The massive sphere descends slowly. The buildings it touches are obliterated in seconds.

Goku flexes his knees and flies up to the ball holding it with his bare hands. He’s like a little ant underneath it.

Meanwhile... ... Frieza flies back to his spaceship.

Goku holds that ball on his shoulders. He SCREAMS like an Olympian weight lifter as he starts to PUSH the ball away.

With the veins leaping under his biceps, Goku manages to HURL the supernova skywards, away from the city.

EXT. OUTER SPACE - NIGHT The Earth. Frieza’s supernova powers away from Earth’s atmosphere making its way into the depths of space.

INT. BRIDGE - FRIEZA’S SPACESHIP - NIGHT The door slides open. Frieza walks in, limping to the control panel. There’s only him there.

He starts the engines.

EXT. EAST CITY STREETS - NIGHT The Z Fighters look in the sky at the Frieza’s ship rising to its escape.

YAMCHA The bastard is running away!

PICCOLO No, he doesn’t.

They turn to a GOLDEN STREAK tearing though the sky toward the ship, like a shooting star.

INT. BRIDGE - FRIEZA’S SPACESHIP - NIGHT Frieza fumbles frantically at the ship’s controls. He wants to get out of there, when he hears: GOKU (O.S.) FRIEZAAAAAA!!

A scream that makes Frieza CHILL. GOKU BLASTS THROUGH THE SHIP’S GLASS PANEL and takes Frieza away of the bridge to INT. ALL ACROSS FRIEZA’S SPACESHIP - CONTINUOUS - crashing through any wall or floor of the ship in their path at great speed, until, they get in the INT. ENGINE ROOM - FRIEZA’S SPACESHIP - CONTINUOUS A large area. It’s very dark and industrial often with pipes, conduits, and exposed circuitry on the walls.

Goku and Frieza crash-land on the floor next to the ship’s huge engines.

EXT. EARTH ATMOSPHERE - DAWN The ship is almost reaching space. Thanks to Goku, it starts to exhale black smoke.

INT. ENGINE ROOM - FRIEZA’S SPACESHIP - DAWN Goku and Frieza stand facing each other.

FRIEZA You will not win! You can not!

GOKU You’ve already lost, Frieza.

No choices, Frieza does his last action: he raises his good arm above his head and begins charge his Ki. Goku prepares a Kamehameha. Hands near his hip and the ball of energy growing.

GOKU (CONT’D) Kame... (the ball grows) ... hame... (bigger and brighter) ... HAAAA! GOKU UNLEASHES THE BALL TOWARD FRIEZA! FRIEZA YOU SHOULD HAVE DIED ON THAT DAMN PLANET! FRIEZA ALSO FIRES HIS ENERGY BEAM! The two powers collide in a thunderous clash! Sparks fly everywhere. The light is so intense that illuminates the whole environment.

But Frieza is weak, and the Kamehameha is superimposing his energy back, almost swallowing it. He knows that.

No... no!

FRIEZA (CONT’D)

GOKU THIS ENDS NOW! The Kamehameha overcomes Frieza’s power and makes its way straight into the villain.

Frieza is literally engulfed by a blue and white TUNNEL OF LIGHT getting SILHOUETTED inside it.

SLOW MOTION as Frieza DISINTEGRATES inside the Kamehameha energy until there’s nothing left.

EXT. EARTH ATMOSPHERE - DAWN BOOM! The Kamehameha blasts out the ship in a wide beam of light that crosses the skies.

This causes a chain reaction of several explosions all over the ship that destroy it gradually.

EXT. EAST CITY STREETS - SUNRISE The night is giving way to the day. The Z Fighters see the glow of the great ship explosion in the skies.

Moments later, parts of the ship rain down on Earth as little meteorites.

YAMCHA Where’s Goku?

They wait, but no sign of their friend.

A long beat.

Then Goku appears in the sky, calmly descending back to the street. Everyone celebrates. Yamcha gives Goku a strong hug.

TIEN SHINHAN For a moment I thought you had not.

PICCOLO What about Frieza?

GOKU He’s gone. Forever. But we still have work to do.

INT. PAWN SHOP - MOMENTS LATER Goku, still Super Saiyan, walks down the shop and pushes some debris until he finds the Dragon Balls bag.

DISSOLVE TO: EXT. THE LOOKOUT COURTYARD - DAY Everyone gathered around the Dragon Balls - all seven together. They glow with a bright light.

Goku steps forward in a ritualistic moment.

YAMCHA (to Tien) I do not understand... Frieza had all the orbs before we arrived.

Why could not he make the request?

TIEN SHINHAN My master once told me that it is not enough to gather them together, but you have to say the right words. Like a code.

Meanwhile, Gohan approaches Piccolo with an apple in hands, a little away from the others.

GOHAN You’re Mr. Piccolo, are not you?

Piccolo turns his head to him.

GOHAN (CONT’D) My father said that you are one of the strongest warriors he has ever faced and that he respects you very much. (offers the apple) I want to give you this as thanks for helping my father defeat Frieza.

Piccolo grabs the apple without a word. Gohan bows as thanks and returns to his mother. The Namekian liked that gesture.

Back to Goku as he raises his hands.

GOKU Eternal Dragon. By your name I summon you forth, to make my wish come true! Rise Shenron!

The ground begins to shake. The others keep their distance.

All Dragon Balls emit a glow that we no longer see the stars on their surface. It’s happening.

And finally - a luminous serpent is expelled from them that grows larger and large, making curves and taking the form of a dragon. And so it reveals himself to our heroes: SHENRON, THE ETERNAL DRAGON. Rown antlers, sharp teeth, green scaly skin, burning red eyes, a long serpentine body. It speaks with and impossibly LOW DEEP VOICE.

SHENRON What is your wish?

Everyone is impressed with the view, less Goku.

GOKU I wish you would relive all the innocent people killed by Frieza.

May everything be as it was before.

SHENRON This is very easy.

The Dragon’s eyes emit a simple glow.

SHENRON (CONT’D) Your wish was fulfilled, I must go now. Goodbye.

Just as he appeared, Shenron disappears in light back to the Dragon Balls. Still shining, all seven orbs begin to float, rising more and more. Everyone looking at them.

When the spheres reach a certain height - THEY SPLIT UP BY THEIR OWN! Each one rocketing for seven different directions, and departing from our view.

Everyone keeps staring up, still amazed at what they saw.

VEGETA That’s it? It’s done?

KAMI-SAMA The Dragon Balls scattered around the world until someone found them. Maybe it’s better this way.

Then they all hear a familiar voice: Guys?

KRILLIN (O.S.)

All eyes turn to - KRILLIN, WHO BACK TO LIFE! Good and new, as if he had never gone to fight.

We won?

KRILLIN

Goku and Bulma run up to him in a collective embrace, emotive. Master Roshi also approaches.

MASTER ROSHI It’s good to have you back, boy.

138.

EXT. EAST CITY - VARIOUS - DAY The city remains destroyed, but its citizens came back to life, just like Krillin.

In various parts of the city, people embrace with their families, celebrate with friends, some do not even imagine they were dead before.

EXT. THE LOOKOUT COURTYARD - DAY They are all around Krillin, except Vegeta and Piccolo. A familiar moment between them.

GOKU Vegeta, what are you planning to do now?

VEGETA Leave this planet. Recover myself somewhere.

GOKU But I do not think there’s any ship left for you to go.

VEGETA (sighs) I’ll find a way.

BULMA My father and I can build a new ship for you based on the wreckage of the others. I do not promise it will be quick, but I promise we can do it. (beat) And maybe you could stay in the Capsule Corporation meanwhile.

There are always some rooms that no one uses.

Everyone reacts.

Bulma?

KRILLIN

BULMA What? For all I know, he has no home on this planet. It’s the least I can do to thank him for helping Goku.

They look at Vegeta waiting for his response. (beat) Whatever.

VEGETA

GOKU Well, looks like we got it all figured out. But there’s only one thing missing... this whole thing left me with a terrible hunger.

CHI-CHI Already knew you’d say that, so I asked Mr. Popo to prepare a banquet for everyone.

GOKU Chi-Chi you’re the best!

I know.

CHI-CHI

MASTER ROSHI Okay guys, let’s get in before Goku eats everything before us.

They begin to enter the temple, but Goku remains outside. He approaches a lonely Piccolo, who eats the apple.

GOKU It was quite a battle, was not it?

Yeah.

PICCOLO

GOKU We formed a nice team. We should do this more often.

Piccolo finishes eating the apple.

PICCOLO See you around, Goku.

Piccolo flies up and off there. Goku just watches, smiling.

As he walks toward the temple, WE PULL BACK - moving away from Goku and the platform.

CAMERA CONTINUES PULLING BACK - until we see the Lookout from above and Goku the size of an ant walking there.

Camera continues ascending, and when the structure becomes tiny in the center of the frame CUT TO BLACK.
