ARCHITECT, BIM ARCHITECT & VISUALIZER Hej, jeg hedder Luis Guijarro Bergeron. As a young, active architect with five years of experience, a B. Arch and a M. Arch degree, along with an AUTODESK Official Master’s Degree in architecture visualization, and a certification as a BIM modeler expert in Revit, I am about to relocate to Copenhagen, where I would be honored to work and learn the best in the field of architecture and design. Avid for intellectual development and challenges, I would like to mold my design with the Danish influence and lifestyle, which inspires me as an architect and musician. My multicultural American-Spanish upbringing, living between the Canary Islands and the Sahara Desert, coupled with the exchange programs in Poland and Granada, has forged my profound curiosity, in-depth analytical problem-solving abilities, and my English-Spanish solid communication skills. Currently, I live in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Spain, as a freelancer and work for the award-winning firm of Romera Arquitectos, formerly Romera y Ruiz Arquitectos. As a jack of all trades, I have enjoyed all aspects of an architectural project, keen on interior design and visualization. www.romerayruiz.com For the past three years, I have been honored to be an integrated member of Romera Arquitectos, one of the most influential architecture firms in the Canary Islands, recognized by international and national awards and honorable mentions. Since its foundation in 1999, Romera y Ruiz Arquitectos has created innovative, aesthetic environmental awareness constructions. The firm specializes in all kinds of architecture, from housing to urban and landscape designs. Based in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, they have mastered the idiosyncrasies of living on an island with a distinctive landscape with a pronounced terrain surrounded by water. Located on Gran Canaria, characterized by its coastal unfertile soil, “SIN CO2” is an environmental awareness billboard. “SIN CO2” emerges vehemently on the side of one of the main highway crossings of Gran Canaria’s metropolitan bustling hub, creating the illusion of a colossal rectangular volcanic rock emerging from the hill, with solidified lava and shallow craters filled with cacti, blasting out the environmental awareness message “Without CO2” through the use of CO2 absorbing concrete.

Commissioned by the public sector, belonging to a Master Plan to embellish the highway scenery of the island’s motorway network, “Romera Arquitectos” was faithful to their message, sagaciously constructing “SIN CO2” with a low carbon footprint by using the building’s structure rather than demolishing it.

As a freelance architect, this was my first solo project on a 100-year-old d challenge was to construct two distinct, highly private spaces, as the owner req studio, therapy office, and family home with an art studio.
The commission included renovations and repairs to the existing construc swimming pool, a staircase, and an extension on the top floor while keeping t Canarian house, with the patio as the heart of the home.

In the upper part of the city of Las Palmas of Gran Canaria, in a residential tower built in the 1960s, this apartment with an impacting view of the lower part of the city and the main port, framed by the horizon over the ocean, became my second project as a project manager in the budget planning and construction phase.

Built-in an era in which the number of rooms outweighed the spatial quality, this 250m2 apartment was outdated, with walls covered with worn wallpaper, floors with old-fashioned hydraulic tiles, and classic single-glazed windows without thermal bridge break. The renovation consisted of turning the apartment into an open plan distribution by tearing down most walls. This new distribution resulted in a day dwelling area with a kitchen/dining room 46 m2, a living room/ dining room 95 m2, and a night resting area with four bedrooms with a balcony and three bathrooms. In addition, new flooring was added alongside windows, doors, kitchen, fully equipped bathrooms, new electrical, water, and AC systems. | A PA R T M E N T I N L A S PA L M A S |

The “Housing in El Raso” project was my golden opportunity to exercise my zest to specialize in interior design through the new tools I had acquired in my Architectural Visualization Master. I was able to deliver the following images using 3Ds Max, Vray, and Photoshop. The project consists of 6 single-family units with two floors and a basement, located along a steep hillside in Santa Brigida. They all share the same aesthetics and have different distributions and arrangements in order to adapt to the characteristics of the plot through the use of a series of terraces. They are designed as light diaphragms that open uo to the mountain views with an open plan distribution, separating the daytime and nighttime dwelling areas by floors. Aside from my role of modeling the site and rendering one of the units, I was also able to assist in the design with the project manager through the modeling process. | HOUSING IN EL RASO |

Yaiza’s Harbor Extension, currently under construction, is one of the mo I have worked on under the supervision of Romera y Ruiz Arquitectos. I wa concept layout up to the construction documents development, including rendering with Sketchup and Enscape.
The commission consisted in designing the new harbor’s urban layout, w and a new passenger terminal.
The design of the urban layout focused on introducing generous green shade and visual comfort, integrate the harbor with the existing city, and communication of the various users who use the port: commercial boat pas port logistics with loading-trucks, fishing pier users, marina users, and eve addition, in order to ensure a correct road design, special software was need the road curvatures and safe areas.

I immensely enjoyed implementing the BIM system, using Revit on my first solo project. I had used it in many single-family housing projects in the architecture firms I had been collaborating with but had not had the opportunity to follow through the different phases of the construction. I have benefited enormously from the learning process I have undergone, from the use of it throughout the initial preparation phase, from construction documents to the completion of the design. Following the project’s construction along with the BIM model, and the addition of a real-time rendering engine as Enscape has been crucial to adapt to unforeseeable aspects, ensuring the best result possible with the client’s consent.

Multifamily Building in Las Palmas is a six-story building with 20 apartments located in the heart of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria currently under construction. The plot is unique, as it is built on two separate narrow rectangle plots that span the block and form two facades. This meant, that in order to generate livable apartments in the core of the building, several generous patios had to be placed along the building. The building has a basement garage, a ground floor with common areas, and houses above it, with several patios with vertical gardens, allowing light and air to flow freely and bringing nature to the interior. Executed with Autocad, I collaborated in designing, drafting, and generating the construction documents.

In 2016-17, my enthusiasm for graphic design inspired me to produce a torial book for my thesis project. As a result, I had the honor of being selec collective exhibition of artists’ books in The Plastic Arts Center of Las Pal in 2018.

In 2019, I landed my current job at Romera Arquitectos with the portfolio you can see in this page and on the link I have attached to this portfolio. Romera was impressed with the printed version and congratulated me on its highly professional design, reminiscent of an architecture magazine. The portfolio is assembled into 30 pages in A3, 150 gr/m2 matte paper with a stapled spine. Unfortunately, although the printed version may portray my design skills and zest for creative illustration, it is not suitable for digital readability.

Se trata de mi propuesta para reformar / restaurar las Torres Bermejas, una fortificación con más de 1000 años de antigüedad, en un hotel exclusivo para invitados distinguidos situado en la cresta de la Colina del Mauror, a tan solo 10 miutos de La Alhambra, contemplando , desde las alturas, la ciudad de Granada y bordeado por el bosque de La Alhambra. Las Torres Bermejas datan del S.IX, construidas por los arabes, que ocuparón Granada, de la época del reino Zirí como un elemento más del sistema defensivo, compuesto por muros de ladrilo y tapiales de 8 metros de alto con 2,5m de espesor, que confinaban la ciudad de Granada, de los que hoy solo quedan fragmentos repartidos por toda la ciudad, siendo las Torres Bermejas, un vestigio más.

La propuesta consiste en la superposicion de un elemento ligero, que por contraste realza y pone en valor tanto lo antigüo como lo nuevo, que resuelve las comunicaciones entre los distintos volumenes al mismo tiempo que restablece la conexión con el muro del sistema defensivo. La pieza toma forma a raiz de la lectura obtenida del propio edifcio donde se produce una sucesión de umbrales que varían encuanto a altura, luz, espesor y cambios de escala, manteniendo vivo el concepto de la “promenade achitecturel” de Le corbusier. El volumen ligero alberga las circulaciones y espacios dedicados al espacio público, compuesto por una estructura metálica y forjados de chapa colaborante mientras que las dependencias de hospedaje y servicio se resuelven en el interior de las torres.
