1 Digital Media Typograhy

Arial font family For all screen design productions (i.e. websites, PowerPoint presentations, terminal screens) we use the Arial font family. This is because of the compatibility of typefaces on the internet and also because Arial is an easily readable screen font. We never combine Arial with our other corporate typefaces.

Futura and Times New Roman font family For all digital productions which can be printed (i.e. eNewspaper, internal Newsletter, CEO Letter) we use the Futura and Times New Roman font family. In order to achieve consistency in all our productions we use the print typefaces for cross medias. eNewspaper and other digital productions should have the same look and feel as print productions. We never combine Arial with our other corporate typefaces.

Colours The website is built against a white background. Only the colours Dark Grey 04 and White are used for texts and surfaces (including gradations 100 / 80 / 60 / 40 / 20 %). The colour gradations mirror the navigation levels. The colour Dark Red 01 (including the gradations 100 / 80 / 60 / 40 %) is used to create a clear visual display of the navigation structure. Dark Blue is used exclusively for the left display with a mouseover.

The following sites illustrate the combinations and functions in which colours are used in texts and surfaces.

Typography The font used on websites is exclusively Arial; either White (against a dark background) or 100% Dark Grey 04 (against a light background). Dark Red 01 may only be used against a white background and 20% Dark Grey 04.

Under no circumstances may a red font be set against a red surface. In order to ensure legibility, it is essential to create sufficient contrast between font and surface colour.

Dotted lines are used for the structuring and separation of texts and navigation items. 100 % Dark Grey 04 is set against white surfaces and White is set against coloured surfaces.

Side navigation and sidebar are omitted and serve as content columns. The header navigation is also omitted. Main navigation and footer navigation are necessary in order to ensure user friendliness. The main image is generously set to a height of 444 pixels.

Titles are set against a white, transparent surface (80%) with Dark Red 01 on the main image. 60 px

The footer navigation is placed over the footer and separated from the content with a dotted line. Attention should be paid to all definitions of the B2B website, whether it be baseline grids, the display of the navigation or the basic layout conditions. It is important to provide an overview which allows the user to easily navigate the website. More space should be allocated for content and images and there should only be two navigation levels.

5 Screen Design

Terminal screen Colours Colours from the secondary and tertiary colour range should be used. The colour Dark Grey 04 (100 %) is used for text against the background colour Dark Grey 04 (20 %). To highlight text can be written in Dark Red 01 (100%). In order to display interactive surfaces and buttons, the surfaces are coloured white and the effect “flattened inner edges” is multiplied. This effect is applied for better usability exclusively in interactive media.

Swissport Cargo has begun rolling out a sophisticated market intelligence tool (MIT) that will be available to all station and regional managers by the end of September, allowing them to identify key information about their customers and competitors and the performance of their own businesses, in order to improve Swissport’s market share and position.

sWissport’s kilimAnjAro

Swissport’s Kilmanjaro station has achieved several major successes in the last two months, including the successful launch of flights from Kenya Airways and Qatar Airways and the start of scheduled services for Africa’s first B787 ‘Dreamliner’ aircraft. On 1 July, Kenya Airways started a 6/7 frequency from Nairobi to Kilimanjaro as part of a five-year contract between Kenya Airways and Swissport Tanzania, which began last year with flights at Dar es Salaam. Swissport offers ramp, passenger and cargo services to Kenya Airways.

The handling market at Kilimanjaro has been a challenging one since Precisionair, Tanzania’s major domestic carrier, started to do self handling in late 2009, with Swissport’s Kilimanjaro station more affected than Dar es Salaam. Remaining with only KLM and Ethiopian Airlines operating daily flights, and with other operators like Condor only operating weekly flights and Air Kenya operating light aircraft, the business situation at the airport was not that promising. The light started to shine when Edelweiss Air started to fly seasonally in 2010 and with Fly540 operating domestic flights. Swissport Tanzania CEO Gaudence Temu commented: “It has been an exceptional few months for Swissport’s Kilimanjaro station, which has been the culmination of a lot of hard work by the Swissport Tanzania team. Both the commercial team and the team on the ground deserve congratulations for what they have achieved, but we will not rest on our laurels and we need to continue to drive the business forward and aim to achieve further new milestones at our promising Kilimanjaro station.”

Late last month, on 25 July, Qatar Airways also made its inaugural flight to Kilimanjaro. Swissport is pleased to have signed a three-year contract with the airline for ramp, passenger and cargo services. The daily flights to Kilimanjaro from Doha fly avia Dar es Salaam, where Qatar Airways is also handled by Swissport. Leisure Cargo has also renewed its three-year contract with Swissport Tanzania for cargo services at Kilimanjaro International Airport, with the new contract starting from 1 August. Leisure Cargo, based in Dusseldorf, is using Condor flights for cargo imports into Tanzania. Condor flies once a week to Kilimanjaro. FinAlly

And then finally, Swissport welcomed Ethiopian Airlines’ new B787-800 Dreamliner, dubbed ‘Africa’s First’, when it landed at Kilimanjaro Airport on 19 August 2012 – to make it the first destination since its delivery at Addis Ababa on 17 August. Ethiopian Airlines flies two daily flights between Addis Ababa and Kilimanjaro, including one via Mombasa.

The aviation market in Africa, and in particular Tanzania, has been less affected by some of the global economic challenges triggered by the Euro sovereign debt crisis, and there is an increase in flights and some customers changing from smaller to bigger equipment. In July, Turkish Airlines started to fly daily to Dar es Salaam from a 5/7 frequency, and South African Airways added one additional frequency, increasing from 9/7 to 10/7. I manage the Human Resources function for Kenya that takes care of both Airside and the Cargo business. What do you like best about your job and the swissport environment? I must admit that I am fairly new not only in Swissport but also the aviation industry, having joined the company in May. I am therefore enjoying every minute of it. There is so much to learn and lots to do. The people have been very friendly and open and are

I am currently involved in planning for a Job Evaluation exercise alongside looking at our current performance management system and reviewing it to better support the business. I love the written word and the worlds and endless opportunities that it has opened up for me. It has certainly helped me develop an active imagination and helped me expound on my vocabulary.

Swissport’s Kilmanjaro station has achieved several major successes in the last two months, including the successful launch of flights from Kenya Airways and Qatar Airways and the start of scheduled services for Africa’s first B787 ‘Dreamliner’ aircraft. On 1 July, Kenya Airways started a 6/7 frequency from Nairobi to Kilimanjaro as part of a five-year contract between Kenya Airways and Swissport Tanzania, which began last year with flights at Dar es Salaam. Swissport offers ramp, passenger and cargo services to Kenya Airways.

The handling market at Kilimanjaro has been a challenging one since Precisionair, Tanzania’s major domestic carrier, started to do self handling in late 2009, with Swissport’s Kilimanjaro station more affected than Dar es Salaam. Remaining with only KLM and Ethiopian Airlines operating daily flights, and with other operators like Condor only operating weekly flights and Air Kenya operating light aircraft, the business situation at the airport was not that promising. The light started to shine when Edelweiss Air started to fly seasonally in 2010 and with Fly540 operating domestic flights. Swissport Tanzania CEO Gaudence Temu commented: “It has been an exceptional few months for Swissport’s Kilimanjaro station, which has been the culmination of a lot of hard work by the Swissport Tanzania team. Both the commercial team and the team on the ground deserve congratulations for what they have achieved, but we will not rest on our laurels and we need to continue to drive the business forward and aim to achieve further new milestones at our promising Kilimanjaro station.”

Late last month, on 25 July, Qatar Airways also made its inaugural flight to Kilimanjaro. Swissport is pleased to have signed a three-year contract with the airline for ramp, passenger and cargo services. The daily flights to Kilimanjaro from Doha fly avia Dar es Salaam, where Qatar Airways is also handled by Swissport. Leisure Cargo has also renewed its three-year contract with Swissport Tanzania for cargo services at Kilimanjaro International Airport, with the new contract starting from 1 August. Leisure Cargo, based in Dusseldorf, is using Condor flights for cargo imports into Tanzania. Condor flies once a week to Kilimanjaro. FinAlly

And then finally, Swissport welcomed Ethiopian Airlines’ new B787-800 Dreamliner, dubbed ‘Africa’s First’, when it landed at Kilimanjaro Airport on 19 August 2012 – to make it the first destination since its delivery at Addis Ababa on 17 August. Ethiopian Airlines flies two daily flights between Addis Ababa and Kilimanjaro, including one via Mombasa.

Des Vertannes (Head of Cargo for IATA) was among the speakers this year, and he really stressed the importance of handlers as a critical and integral part of the supply chain – not just a simple sub-contractor of the airlines. This year, the theme was ‘Succeeding in Tough Times – Through Efficiency, Quality, Simplicity and Profitability’. It was also nice to see one of our own people recognised. Three awards were given in recognition of ‘Advocates of Change’ – those that go the extra mile to push our industry forward. Alan Wright was one of three people recognised, with the others being Henrik Ambak (Vice-President at Cargolux Airlines) and David Ambridge

(GM at Bangkok Flight Services - WFS Group). Alan commented to me afterwards that it was “a real surprise, and one for the team”, and only possible because of “BJ’s

willing to teach me/induct me into the way we do things at Swissport. What has stood out for me, is that excellence is at the core of the way we do our things.

What do you do at swissport?

The aviation market in Africa, and in particular Tanzania, has been less affected by some of the global economic challenges triggered by the Euro sovereign debt crisis, and there is an increase in flights and some customers changing from smaller to bigger equipment. In July, Turkish Airlines started to fly daily to Dar es Salaam from a 5/7 frequency, and South African Airways added one additional frequency, increasing from 9/7 to 10/7.

I am in charge of everything to do with people, our number 1 asset. I manage the Human Resources function for Kenya that takes care of both Airside and the Cargo business.

Dear Colleagues, We continue to face highly challenging market environments, as the uncertainty over the future of the Eurozone continues to affect economies in Europe and around the world. The austerity programmes in Europe and other regions are also having a ‘reallife’ impact in many countries, with unemployment in Spain, for example, currently running at around 25%. This also has an effect on airline passenger numbers and yields, leading to losses at many carriers and some airlines putting non-core activities such as catering and IT up for sale. While some passenger airline outsourcing presents opportunities for Swissport, global cargo volumes are behind 2011 levels and the outlook for 2012 and 2013 is very fragile. These factors are reflected in Swissport’s trading figures for the year to date, which are a mixture of over- and under-achievements. Highlights in the last few months include winning multiple airport licences in Morocco, the contract to handle Air France’s regional fleet at Paris CDG, winning the ACW World Air Cargo Handling Award for the fourth year in a row, and the Flightcare acquisition. Flightcare has great businesses in Spain and Belgium that perfectly complement Swissport’s existing activities in those important markets. We will continue our strategy of pursuing good-value acquisitions that fit well into the Swissport portfolio and our expansion plans. In order to meet our need for profitable growth in the current challenging market, we also need to apply some of our own austerity measures to control overheads while we work hard to gain and retain what business is out there. For example, we need to eliminate all non-customer visit travel and instead, where possible, make use of videoconferencing and Skype to continue our communications. As a result, this year’s TMC has been postponed to 2013. Challenging times create opportunities for talented and creative individuals and companies, and so I urge you to continue to work with vigour, enthusiasm, and an inquiring and active mind so that we can spot any opportunities to increase our productivity, improve our business and achieve profitable growth. Volumes are way behind budget in Q.1 but our business is adapting thanks to your flexibility and improved production. The volumes are below 2011 and Budget and nearly level with what was achieved in 2010 although the worrying trend is that April is very poor mid month.

INTRoDucTIoN To euRoPe I am very pleased to have the opportunity to give a few highlights from europe for this edition of the cargo Newsletter. You will see news from Amsterdam, where they are very focused on sales, and from Tel Aviv on the issues they face. Finally, Gion Pfister will update you on one of the prioritized cargo projects this year “The cool chain Project”. As usual, March has been a very busy month with many positive and a few negative events. The most positive news is that Korean awarded their business in Amsterdam to us, we opened our second (brand new) warehouse in Liege and we finally got the go-ahead to open in Copenhagen. Much more will follow on these important developments in the coming newsletters.

Secondly – and more importantly – it seems that many of our service issues stem from “human errors” that could have been avoided if we had implemented the Hand-Held Terminals in 2011, as we had planned. We now need to accelerate the implementation of HHT’s across Europe, as not only will these enable a higher degree of efficiency, but they will also eliminate a lot of the rootcauses for the “human errors” leading to the poor service quality. Until this is completed, I expect that all Country and Station Managers across Europe see to that our service quality gets back on track.

One not so positive development – that I need all to have extra focus on – is our service quality! In March we suddenly saw a number of service issues appear at stations like Amsterdam/ Heathrow/Frankfurt/Geneva and Paris. We have had a long spell of relatively good service performance, so why do we suddenly see these mishaps? Firstly, because we after a couple of slow months suddenly saw a slight increase of volumes in March. This was not unexpected and should consequently have been planned for.

This quarter’s newsletter gives an overview of the approach and concept of the Starbuck’s or McDonald’s principle which formulates the adoption of ‘Brand’ and Quality. It also highlights an article that shows it is not always possible to fit the volumes into the largest of our new facilities, all the time and how a station has to re-build itself. Within the newsletter we will also in future issues focus on ‘Technology’ as a major driver of improvement but more importantly we will also focus on Cargospot enhancements so everybody is updated on improvements whether local or global and what they mean. WheN SPAce JuST ISN’T eNouGh IN ouR FAcIlITIeS Israel Sometimes the best laid plans are not able to accommodate the volumes of our customers and as our facilities do not have elastic sides the freight has to be stored somewhere.

SWISSPoRT cARGo SecuRITY PRoGRAmme commencing in April 2012 the Swissport cargo Security Programme will be launched around the network. The programme is intended to ensure that we have a standard approach to site and cargo security. This will then be supplemented with the introduction of the TAPA TAccS standards which are theft prevention measures as opposed to the more prevalent antiterrorist measures normally mandated by the respective state.

We just wanted to give you the feeling of what happens in TLV at the end of the quarter when the warehouse is full. We won 230 tons business of Sodastream to Japan. Due to the size of the load and the lack of capacity the airlines will need weeks to send the entire load. The customer therefore requested us to store part of shipment until the end of April. Sodastream is the world‘s largest manufacturer, distributor and marketer of Home Carbonation Systems, an Israeli product and company. We also won 100 tons of ECI Telecommunications equipment, here as well we will see a long period of storage.

The programme will be managed by Rupert Batstone, VP Business Support who is

located at the Cargo Terminal in London Heathrow but reports directly in to the EVP Cargo in Zurich. In the absence of any state security legislation the Swissport Cargo Services Security Programme will need to be implemented in full. Where state legislation under the host countries NASP is enforceable then the programme supplements the Regulatory requirements. The aim is to ensure Swissport Cargo Services globally has standardised anti terrorist and theft processes and procedures in place to protect the safety of the cargo in our care and all our staff, partners and customers. Under the programme each station will be required to perform a self

audit and report the findings (gap analysis) to the programme manager. The potential gaps will be addressed as mutually agreed. Finally a fully documented Cargo Security Operating procedure will be in place within all Swissport Cargo locations.

loGISTIcS coNcePT AND NeTWoRK DeVeloPmeNT WheN The GoING GeTS TouGh the netherlands The loss of Jade at the end of 2011 meant that we lost a huge proportion of our business in the Netherlands which meant we had to reinvent ourselves and look for new business. The good news is we managed to convince Korean Airlines to commence operations with us from the 1st may but we still need more customers in this flagship facility. The following is an update of one of the many prospects in our current sales pipeline in Amsterdam: Swissport Amsterdam had the first meeting with Air China Cargo on 15th March. Air China Cargo is a potential replacement customer for Jade who ceased service on 24th December, 2011. The first flights are planned for September subject to slots from Dutch Airport Authorities, and pending their marketing department’s decision in China.

Swissport’s aim to develop its global cargo Network is not limited to the efforts of expanding into new markets and airports, Swissport has taken an active approach towards addressing physical shortcomings within the stations to improve operational conditions and environments.

Why are we doing this? The simple reason is that we need to achieve a global, operational standard on how we physically handle cargo. A standard that our customer airlines can rely on and more so, that they can expect. Same as you expect McDonald’s to serve you a burger the same way no matter where in the world you are.

It is a pleasure to welcome you to our first internal Newsletter which has been started to improve communication within cargo and update everybody on some of the developments we are undertaking as well as update you on actions in each region. In essence, Swissport Cargo needs to standardise its business worldwide and emphasis what our ‘Brand’ really means to us and our customers. The concept is simple, the same Swissport wherever you are in the world.

Looking across our stations world wide, I find many different ways cargo is handled. The only thing that is always common in all stations, is the believe and conviction that cargo is handled correctly – ‘We do it right’ – unfortunately often we don’t. Often it is the forklift, ‘our most beloved tool in the warehouse’, that is misused or better say, is misusing cargo, equipment and our facilities. A forklift is used to scoop ULDs empty or laden; a forklift is used to push, tow or lift dollies; a forklift is used to lift Slave-Pallets that aren’t made to be lifted by forklifts etc etc. The reasons for this that I hear, varies from: ‘We always did it this way’ to ‘We don’t have any other means’ or ‘It’s the easiest and fastest way’. This is what we need to address, this is where we have started in some stations to make changes to our logistic handling concepts.

A lot of headway was made in Africa where we developed our new cargo terminal in Nairobi and there with setting new handling standards, we re-engineered and expanded our cargo terminal in Dar es Salaam as a first step towards achieving desired standards in a newly planned terminal and a new facility is in the planning for Algiers with such standards in mind. Europe has also seen a lot of development with our Amsterdam facility being re-engineered through the introduction of a new handling system, London

Volumes are way behind budget in Q.1 but our business is adapting thanks to your flexibility and improved production. The volumes are below 2011 and Budget and nearly level with what was achieved in 2010 although the worrying trend is that April is very poor mid month.

Heathrow is undergoing a massive reengineering effort to allow for higher cargo through-put at the desired handling standard, a new facility in Liège has gone live mid April, featuring a new lean, sophisticated handling system allowing to deliver the expected standard. Not yet addressed are the Americas. Physical cargo handling standards, particularly in the US are in need to be addressed to start driving a bigger differentiation between us and other market players. I am convinced that when we roll out these efforts in the US, a lot can be achieved with relatively little investment – the only big investment that needs to be made is us accepting this needed change and to embrace it as the way forward to differentiate us through our new standards that we need to set. Clearly the aim is to achieve a handling standard in terms of facility, equipment and SOPs throughout our global network that our customers can rely on like the burger in McDonald’s. Technology & the correct terminal equipment will be the key to success.

As usual, March has been a very busy month with many positive and a few negative events. The most positive news is that Korean awarded their business in Amsterdam to us, we opened our second (brand new) warehouse in Liege and we finally got the go-ahead to open in Copenhagen. Much more will follow on these important developments in the coming newsletters.

Secondly – and more importantly – it seems that many of our service issues stem from “human errors” that could have been avoided if we had implemented the Hand-Held Terminals in 2011, as we had planned. We now need to accelerate the implementation of HHT’s across Europe, as not only will these enable a higher degree of efficiency, but they will also eliminate a lot of the rootcauses for the “human errors” leading to the poor service quality. Until this is completed, I expect that all Country and Station Managers across Europe see to that our service quality gets back on track.

One not so positive development – that I need all to have extra focus on – is our service quality! In March we suddenly saw a number of service issues appear at stations like Amsterdam/ Heathrow/Frankfurt/Geneva and Paris. We have had a long spell of relatively good service performance, so why do we suddenly see these mishaps? Firstly, because we after a couple of slow months suddenly saw a slight increase of volumes in March. This was not unexpected and should consequently have been planned for.

GeNeVA cARGo SeRVIceS headIng for the future Swissport Geneva has a long and wide experience in cargo handling. But we don’t want to simply rely on that: We want to anticipate our customer’s needs and to keep totally in phase with all international requirements, especially in terms of security. Both the international and national regulations keep on being amended all the time, in order to provide the best possible response to the different forms that threats can take, today or tomorrow. Because cargo might be a risk factor in terms of security, a cargo shipment needs to be well protected, from its point of origin till it reaches its consignee. That is what we call the “regulated agent” system: any entity part of the cargo chain must be

duly trained and qualified in order to prevent unlawful interference. In addition to this, cargo must be screened, in order to make sure that all shipments are 100% “clean” before they get loaded on an aircraft. Swissport Geneva therefore recently acquired 2 X-ray machines, whereof the Smiths Heimann 180180 2 is shown on the photograph. Its latest technology enables the operators to scan very large items (up to 179cm W x 170cm H) from the side and from above simultaneously. In cooperation with Checkport, we selected several agents for a specialised training. At the end of March, they all succeeded their final exam. They now show high motivation for the launch of this new experience and are looking forward to put their skills and knowledge at our customer’s service.
