A thrilling triple bill performed by The National Ballet of Canada celebrates the classical and populist genius of Jerome Robbins – and premieres a brand new work by Jorma Elo.
The groundbreaking choreography of an American classic is distilled to its dynamic essence in Robbins’s West Side Story Suite. Including such famous numbers as “Dance at the Gym,” “Somewhere” and “America,” this immensely entertaining work is both sheer effervescent fun and an urgent, touching love story.
The program also features the world premiere of a new work by Jorma Elo – a choreographer renowned for the speed and physicality of his work, which fuses both the classical and the contemporary – and another distinctive Robbins piece, Opus 19/ The Dreamer, set to Prokofiev’s Violin Concerto No. 1 in D Major.
Don't miss this chance to sample the popular, classical, and cutting edge from Canada's premier dance company.
