Design Die Schweizerische Bahnhofsuhr der SBB ist ein legendäres Stück Schweizer Design. Sie zeigt in den Schweizer Bahnhöfen die Zeit an. 1944 schuf Hans Hilfiker, ein Schweizer Ingenieur als Mitarbeiter der Schweizer Bundesbahnen, eine Uhr die als «Offizielle Schweizer Bahnhofsuhr» weltbekannt wurde. The station clock used by the SBB, the Swiss Federal Railways is a legendary piece of Swiss design. It tells the time at almost every station in Switzerland. In 1944, Hans Hilfiker, a Swiss Engineer and Designer and employee of the Federal Swiss Railways, created a clock, which has become known as the «Official Swiss Railways Clock». 1986 it made the leap from the station platform to the wrist. The Mondaine SBB collection has in turn become a respected design in its own right and has gone from strength to strength and today it is widely considered to be one of the «10 Classic Swiss Watch Designs». Conceived in Switzerland, made for the world , this collection sets standards with their excellent readability.

Die Antwort war ein Rizinusöl-Verbundstoff von BASF, der es uns ermöglichte, unsere „essence Collection“ auf den Markt zu bringen. Für die Gehäuse mussten wir die Mischung aus Gründen der Steifigkeit, Wasserbeständigkeit und Haltbarkeit modifizieren. Unsere Gehäuse bestehen daher aus 40 % Rizinusöl, 30 % Glasfasern, 2 % aus Farbpigmenten und 28 % Erdöl. Seit der Markteinführung im Jahr 2016 haben wir auch damit begonnen, weitere Materialien wir für die Armbänder zu verwenden, wie zum Beispiel rPET, Kork, Leinen und Baumwolle.
We Care CO2 Neutrality The Mondaine Group is one of the first entirely carbon neutral watch companies in the world. The Group, and all the 4 brands, has been engaged in efforts to reduce its own carbon footprint for several decades. In 2020, the company achieved its first time CO2 neutrality, and did it again in 2021. Our carbon neutrality extends to all areas of our business as per scopes 1, 2 and 3 of the Greenhouse Gas Protocol (GHG). This includes the Swiss factory in Biberist (with its photovoltaic system on the roof), the HQ in Pfäffikon (with its use of hydroelectricity), all Luminox, Mondaine, M+WATCH and Pierre Cardin branded components, packaging, waste, power, and water, as well as business travel. Classic – Im Jahr 2021 sind wir noch einen Schritt weiter gegangen und haben uns mit einem italienischen Unternehmen zusammengetan, das darauf spezialisiert ist, Nebenprodukte der Weinherstellung in eine pflanzliche Lederalternative zu verwandeln. Das Verfahren zur Umwandlung von weggeworfenen Traubenhäuten, -stielen und -samen in wunderschönes Upcycling-Leder auf Pflanzenbasis ist nicht nur tierfreundlich, sondern auch frei von chemischen Lösungsmitteln, Schwermetallen und anderen schädlichen Substanzen. Die Armbänder bestehen zu 75 % aus Öko-Verbundstoff und zu 25 % aus wasserbasiertem PU und werden ab 2022 alle Armbänder aus Tierleder in unserer Classic Collection ersetzen. Développement durable Sustainable materials Essence – In 2015, we started our quest to find a better alternative to fossil oil. The solution was a Ricinus (castor) oil compound material from BASF that enabled us to launch our “essence Collection”. For the cases, we had to modify the compound for stiffness, water resistance and durability reasons. Our cases contain 40% Ricinus, 30% glass fibers, 2% color pigments and 28% fossil oil. The straps use 50% Ricinus oil, 50% PU, and since launch in 2016, we introduced other materials like rPET, cork, linen, cotton, and others for the straps. Classic – In 2021, we went even further by partnering with an Italian company specialized in turning byproducts from winemaking into a vegetal grape leather alternative. As well as being animal friendly and free from chemical solvents, no heavy metals or other harmful substances are part of the process of turning discarded grape skins, stalks and seed into beautiful upcycled plant-based leather. The straps are made of 75% eco-composite and 25% water-PU and will replace all animal leather straps in our Classic Collection as of 2022. Pétrole – En 2015, nous avons commencé notre quête pour trouver une meilleure alternative au pétrole fossile. La solution était un composé d’huile de Ricinus (ricin) de BASF qui nous a permis de lancer notre « Collection essence ». Pour les boîtiers, nous avons dû modifier le composé pour des raisons de rigidité, de résistance à l’eau et de durabilité. Nos boîtiers contiennent 40 % de ricin, 30 % de fibres de verre, 2 % de pigments de couleur et 28 % d’huile fossile. Les bracelets utilisent 50 % d’huile de ricin, 50 % de PU, et depuis leur lancement en 2016, nous avons introduit d’autres matériaux comme le rPET, le liège, le lin, le coton, et d’autres pour les bracelets. Classique – En 2021, nous sommes allés encore plus loin en nous associant à une entreprise italienne spécialisée dans la transformation des sous-produits de la vinification en une alternative au cuir de raisin végétal. En plus d’être respectueux des animaux et exempts de solvants chimiques, aucun métal lourd ou autre substance nocive ne fait partie du processus de transformation des peaux, des tiges et des graines de raisin, en un beau cuir végétal recyclé. Les bracelets sont fabriqués à 75 % en éco-composite et à 25 % en polyuréthane et remplaceront tous les bracelets en cuir animal de notre collection classique à partir de 2022.

Classic A true design masterpiece Developed in 1944 by the Swiss Federal Railways for their train stations, it was first launched by Mondaine in 1986 as a wristwatch. The design has stood the test of time and remained unchanged ever since. The classic collection impresses with its meticulously designed case made out of stainless steel which imparts a timeless and minimalistic look and feel. The red crown and the red colour on the inside of the strap are hidden design features.This watch is a true statement: a Swiss original.
