VERTICAL COURTYARD HOUSE Bronx Housing Course: Core IV Studio, Fall 2018 Instructor: Daisy Ames In order to reduce building cost, provide better living environments to meet needs of different age groups, bring light and nature into urban context, encourage interaction of residents, and promote a sense of community, this housing project utilizes a utility bar and green bar system, which operate on both unit scale and site scale and penetrate the living space. Wrapped by mesh screens, building units are horizontally connected by corridors and vertically connected by light wells, where vegetation weaves with physical and sensual connections.

THE MIX LIBRARY DUMBO Public Library Course: Core II Studio, Spring 2018 Instructor: Benjamin Cadena This library seeks to mix different groups of people, such as artists, start-up people, tourists and residents. Columns wraps around different space volumes yet boundaries among city, reading space, working space and garden become self-dissolving. Visual effects of columns also make space condition even more ambiguous.

RING East River Kayaking Center Course: Core I Studio, Fall 2017 Instructor: Inaqui Carnicero East River has similar climate and water condition and busy transportation to Hudson River. Inspired by Pier 84 boathouse, I designed a safe harbor for kayakers. Two bended linear piers are connected at rooftop to form a ring. Boathouse, gallery and restaurant sit along the ring at different height. The continuous undulating rooftop surface is for park visitors, joggers and bicyclists. Also, two floating platforms are introduced to bring more activities to bay. Floating platforms could be used for kayak polo, smaller concert or major music festivals on water. The round shape of project enables people on the ring have equivalent experience.

MUSIC PARK Berkeley Waterfront Public Space Course: Architecture 100C, Fall 2015 Instructor: Jay Atherson Located on the wasteland in Berkeley waterfront, the music park is a park space open to multiple kinds of music, artists and audiences. The site itself evolves from a traditional Greek theater, while various small music venues seating on the ramp. Bridges above music venues not only connect all these venues which are seperated by retaining walls, but also create hallways and seating with more ways to enjoy the music. The relationship between the stage and audience become exible. People have diverse options to enjoy music: becoming an engaged audience, taking a seat casually, or jogging on hallways and ramps.

KOREAN ART COMPLEX SEOUL | KOREA 2017 Firm: AMLGM We create a Library-Museum- Archive hybrid for this Korean Art Complex competition. In order to create connection, openness, and unity between the separate building programs, we combine all of the program into a continuous building. Much of the site located on the south slope is steep and rocky. Our approach was to fit as much program into the flat portion of the site and place the additional program on the adjacent site with bridges connecting them. Sectionally, the building is arranged into three main zones: The parking garage, the main program platforms, and the closed archive / offices above. The first platform contains the cafe and art & book store. The next platform is the Project Gallery which is highly visible from the open archives, the community platform and the special exhibit gallery. The open archive acts as a connector or programmatic “glue between the closed archive on the 3 rd floor and the major public programs on the platforms below. The open archive weaves through every public program, creating a cultural ecosystem.

PEARL MOSQUE DUBAI | UNITED ARAB EMIRATES 2018 Firm: AMLGM The project site is situated within Dubai Creek Harbour, one of Dubai’s most ambitious mixed use waterfront developments. These cities, and Dubai in particular, have an ancient and rich history of pearl diving dating back as far as seven thousand years. The pearl, a symbol of hope and cultural richness, provided a strong cultural reference from which to shape the design. The Pearl Mosque is a parametric interpretation of traditional Islamic elements including the dome, the Muqarna, and the Mashrabiya pattern. The base geometry of the Pearl Mosque is a rectangular section of a large sphere. This creates form that is circular in nature, and vaulted off the ground. A series of voids bring in light through a modern interpretation of the traditional Muquarnas, and serve as entrances. Courtyard ultimately allows the axis from the Dubai Creek Tower to the park run underneath the building, allowing the surrounding context to weave through the Mosque. The exterior dome invites the surrounding community to rest and connect before and after prayers or as they move along the axis
