Under the Neem

The traditional Gurukul System or during the Vedic era study under the tree was a significant practice for the exchange of knowledge.

Being public building in rural, every person needs to be welcomed and greeted equally in terms of the usage of space.

Kath khuni is a traditional building style that is found in Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh.This technique involves the use of large wooden beams and columns that support the entire structure, while smaller wooden pegs or “khuni” hold the walls and roofs in place.

The challenge was to build a row housing for a family of seven. The north of the site opened to the views of river Umngot whereas the south side to the collector road. One of the most challenging parts of designing this house was the narrow form i.e.,14 x 110ft and the longer side shared walls with the other exiting houses with G+2 height
