Urban Design | The Groves of Spire Village, Little Ferry, NJ Green Spaces Two green strips connecting north and south are the main pedestrian paths in the site. From the green strips, three large green corridors brunch out, connecting the green walls and building facades on the west of the site, next to where the vehicular thoroughfares are located, and the waterfront area on the east of the site.
Pedestrian-oriented T width of the passageways, the size of the blocks, the repeated opportunity for interaction with natural green space above and the waterfront below, and the scale of the structures are concentrated on pedestrian walkability. The curvilinar passageways are design to help people recognize their location. mouliluo@gmail.com | 11

A New Ground Level
The building design attempts to restore the urban context through creating urban courtyard at a new ground level for pedestrians only. There are three main urban courtyards in the site. The organic layout increases the link between spaces.

Architectural Design | Urban Grid, Nanchang, China
Design Purpose
The design is to create a unique residential area which should not only be harmonious with the surrounding environment, but also working as a relatively independent urban “unit”. Since the project is located next to the High-tech Development Zone of Nanchang, a high-pace urban center, the nature has become the most important factor for the project to create a concept of “slow life“ living space where residents can spend their daily life within walking distance and enjoy leisure time in their neighborhood.
Design Concept
From that purpose, the design concept of the project has been proposed with an inspiration of “grid“, a traditional Chinese urban layout. This inspiration is transformed into a design concept of “paths” and “nodes” for this project, through twisting the shape of streets, allowing people to experience the visual beauties of many different species of natural greeneries from every direction throughout the journey until reaching their destination.
Public Area
There are four public areas in the projects: one central public area in the center of the project and three small plazas seperated around the center.
