My absolute favorite place in Amarillo is Palo Duro Canyon State Park. It’s surreal driving through the rolling plains then suddenly seeing the land drop off into a massive canyon. Palo Duro is the ideal place to escape the concrete walls of city life for some muchneeded mindfulness. The canyon is also an amazing place for adventure with many activities such as horseback riding, ziplining, Humvee tours, and more. Although Palo Duro Canyon is not well-known, it’s definitely a buck-listworthy stop!

s p i T Insider Asian Bistro is my hidden gem in Amarillo. It’s my go-to for authentic Lao food. Order the Kow Piek (chicken noodle soup) with crispy pork belly. When I’m not eating, I enjoy hiking at Wildcat Bluff Nature center with my boyfriend and golden retriever, Pepper.
