“I believe fresh food is the key to the human heart.” – Adam Ruelas
A conversation with Adam Ruelas, Executive Chef of the Blossom Bar –Embassy Suites by Hilton Valencia
Where do you find your inspiration for new plates and how often do you change your menu? I constantly challenge myself to focus on visuals and tastes to determine what would be the best blend of flavors for each plate. I draw inspiration from social media and my experiences at different restaurants, especially those that use fresh, made-from-scratch ingredients. I believe changing the menu according to the seasons is important to maximize flavor and align with seasonal trends.
Tell us a little bit about your culinary background. Growing up, food was always a huge part of my life. I believe fresh food is the key to the human heart. I’ve been a part of the culinary industry for 16 years and ventured into the hospitality sector eight years ago. After high school, I went straight to culinary school, where I took courses in cooking, baking, restaurant management and food nutrition. I have worked under some incredible chefs who encouraged me to think outside the box and explore foods from other cultures, which has been extremely beneficial to my culinary development.
