If you do manage to resist the pie, the cookie that comes with tea and coffee is home made too. Helena Primakoff also serves breakfast and hearty boterhammen. Their sandwich with mackerel is a classic. And then, okay, order the apple pie. You do deserve it.

For cat lovers only! Entering Kattencafé Kopjes means entering the domain of seven cats that tattooed owner Lenny Popelier adopted from a shelter. Traveling through Japan she missed her cats and visited a cat café: the idea was born. Through crowd funding she raised money to turn the space into a heaven for cats and clientele alike. It’s wise to make a reservation before coming over, there’s a maximum amount of visitors so the cats won’t get stressed out. A tip: don’t go over to the cats, munch on your delicious pie and the cats will come to you.

At Olives & More they love olives. They import and prepare the olives after which they marinate a selection of them with homemade marinates or just a sprinkle of olive oil. They started selling olives on organic markets from a traditional Dutch "bakkersbakfiets" and opened in March 2014 their new production space and shop at the Pretoriusstraat 68 D in Amsterdam Oost. In the shop you can find olives from all over Europe, Tunisia and Morocco amidst vats of olive oil from Italy, Greece, Portugal and Spain. In the 1920´s the movement Amsterdamse School aimed to better the poor housing conditions of the working class and built new apartment buildings and designed entire neighbourhoods.
