MANIFE$TING MONEY By: Bonnie Gayle bonnie@bonniesbookkeeping.com
5
The concept of manifesting money is simple, but
not necessarily easy for most. Wondering why?
Manifesting money requires you to be “open to receive” and most people are not subconsciously. The challenge is that your subconscious controls most of your decisions and if you are blocked subconsciously, you don’t have the capacity to manifest. This is because you are literally putting mixed messages out to the Universe!
YOUR ABILITY TO BE “OPEN TO RECEIVE” IS AFFECTED BY THREE THINGS:
$ YOUR INHERITED PROGRAMMING
$ MESSAGES
YOU’VE RECEIVED THROUGH LIFE
$ DIFFICULT LIFE EXPERIENCES
When you delve into the subconscious programming you’ve been living with and change it, you start manifesting like never before. Then, you will hit your next subconscious block to overcome. Blocks around manifestation are subconscious 95% of the time. That means you are not aware of why you are having challenges manifesting, even though in your mind you think you are doing everything that you are supposed to do to manifest. The blocks come in the form of messages and when you know what the messages are, you can actively do something to change them. Here’s the sad truth; most do not want to do things differently and if you don’t, nothing will ever change. Remember, your subconscious is in charge. This is the reason it can still be difficult for most to manifest despite doing all the “right things” such as visualizing and practicing positivity. Messages you get from others throughout your life also affect your ability to manifest money. You may be that kid who was always getting in trouble and you were told you would never amount to anything. If so, there’s a good chance you won’t unless you actively do something to change it. Lastly, your life experiences that didn’t go so well reinforce negative and limiting beliefs subconsciously. This can crush your confidence making it highly challenging for you to veer from your comfort zone. You end up making all the same choices and nothing changes. When you go against your subconscious, it can be physically, mentally and emotionally challenging. When it reaches a boiling point, most stop. This is the point you must breakthrough to manifest money, and most cannot maintain it. Your self-esteem plays a big role in what you manifest and if it is in the dumps, you’re manifesting all the chaos and things you don’t want in your life. You can choose to change all of this and manifest money, opportunities and amazing people in your life with practice. First, you need to be aware of what is eating you up inside. This can be huge because it consists of so many things. It takes some practice of digging internally to expose however, when you do, the “ah-hah” moments show up and that is where the magic starts to happen. Once you know, you know. At that point, you can choose to maintain a practice that works on releasing the trauma, breaking through negative and limiting beliefs, manifesting money, and creating new empowering experiences making you unstoppable!

Interview by: Candice Bar SUMMER 2021
they look like they have it together versus the person who uses that story and they stay in it. They’re afraid to get out and they use their story to stay. Actions is the only difference between those two people. You’ve just got to keep going. You can’t stop.
C: Can you start off by telling us about where you are from and what you do?
C: I know you’ve had a big transition in life over the past 3 years. Can you tell us what happened, how you dealt with it and what decisions were made?
S: I am from Duluth, MN, the “big” small town in the middle
of the country. It’s a really cool touristy town. I’ve been here all my life, born and raised. I come from humble beginnings and I started out a natural born hustler. I’ve hustled all my life. I got into the entrepreneurial space about 14 years ago and I never looked back. I used to be a dental hygienist but I found that I’m not employable. It was a great career but it wasn’t for me. I’m now in the business and team building space and I’m really focusing on building my brand. I also have a podcast I recently started with Luxe Media called Grit and Grace with Shylo Eckstrom. I’m really passionate about helping women find their voice and finding my place in the business world. I always want to do something really incredible and I’ve done really well in my industry. As I’ve expanded and have taken steps back at times and reflected, what I really saw was a need for these power women, who are already power women, to get into their voices. The time is now. I think it’s really important to have strong women like you or I with platforms that can do this for other women. I’m really excited about that.
C: Tell us more about your show Grit and Grace and how you came up with the name? S: What’s funny is the original name I had was changed last
minute. I can’t even remember the first name I was going to call it. We evolve as people and business and over the last 3 years, I had a lot of changes. I went through incredible growth and incredible failure at the same time. I was growing tremendously but also having so many failures and navigating that. I really wanted to find something that represented me and what I wanted to do more. I like to think that my business and everything that I do in my world, I’ve got to have grit to do it. You’ve got to have a little bit of grit. I use to have a lot of grit. I’ve softened in some ways because I was given so much grace over the last 3-5 years. I really practice giving people grace when they need it. I think it’s important to remind people especially right now in this day and age. You’ve got to have grit but you’ve also got to have grace. Right now the shows’ focus is sharing stories of overcoming and coming out. You see these celebrities and 8-9 figure earners and people really only hear these pretty stories with a cherry on top, right? There are a lot of stories that get overlooked and I want to bring those out. I want to talk about the bad days and the failures so we can show people you can overcome anything. Most of these incredible people have overcome something incredible and their stories need to be shared. I am really focusing on the up and coming super stars in the business world and pop culture. I want this show to inspire others. I always say I’m a complete shit show most days, and I think most of us are! You may see us and we will look pretty in a picture, or we do some really cool things and everyone thinks “oh they’ve got it together.” Absolutely not! Most people are complete shit shows, it’s just that they keep going. I think it’s very important to know what the difference is between somebody who is this uber successful person and they seem like they’ve got everything going for them, and all of a sudden they tell this story that you couldn't believe happened to them because
S: I’ve always done well in business, sales and marketing. I had this
block for a while in one of my previous companies I worked in. It was me growing out of myself. The person I was when I went to that company was no longer there. It didn’t fit in the role it needed to be anymore. This was a personal decision. I didn’t know how to do it or if I could change and shift. When I ultimately made the decision to transition and move on, it was really hard. It was a family decision that I took a lot of time thinking about. I went to a different company. I won’t get into the nitty gritty’s, but sometimes transitions are sloppy. They can get messy and there’s a lot of emotions. Even when it is a business decision there is so much emotion in other people. For my transition there were a lot of emotions. I had a lot of big public challenges I faced and I had to learn how to lead, do my job and stay in my position in a different way. I had to relearn my role as a leader and as a women leader. I wanted to be somebody who was pushing and leading the charge of women leading. I really wanted to speak for women. I had to take a backseat for a couple of years. I was building an incredible team and we have done really, really well. During that time, I was faced with some really serious financial challenges and decisions that I have never had to do and it scared me. When I say I came from humble beginnings, I come from childhood trauma. I am a trauma child. I experienced really low lows, and we were in poverty for a long time. My dad had an amazing job but we were always up and down. My mom struggled for many years. The inner hustler came out in me at a young age because I just wanted more. I never wanted to feel like I wasn’t going to be able to have something. That doesn’t necessarily mean Lamborghini’s and stuff. I mean just having enough money for daily things. For me, I had these fears come out like “what if this doesn’t work out?”. I started to go into very extreme stress and the stress turned into PTSD. It was hard for me to admit that to people because I thought it was crazy. I realize that it is ok and there are a lot of people who have PTSD in different areas of their life. If you’ve ever gone through anything legal, money challenges and the unknown, it can happen very quickly. I am a very social person and I use to drink a lot. When I had all the anxiety and stress, I would just continue to drink and it became a crutch. It became an “I have to” because I was so stressed out. I wanted to numb these feelings and it just became an issue. Last summer I decided I was done. I had gotten through some legal things and I was getting out of this hole that I created. I was feeling better. Ultimately, I had a moment and I totally fell on my face. I decided this wasn’t who I wanted to be and it’s never who I wanted to be. I decided to quit drinking. What’s interesting is that it wasn’t hard. I was ready. For about two years, I had privately sought out some guidance from a pastor and I had the conversations. I just didn’t take a step forward because I didn’t know if I could handle it. Once I made the decision, everyone in my life supported me. I have a great support team. I felt so much better. I went through all of these incredibly insane public changes. It’s hard to be a public figure and gain 30 lbs in 6 months. I actually had people message me and ask if I went and got my breasts done again. I lost a lot of confidence. I never stopped working out though and I never stopped moving. I had gained 15 lbs of water weight because of a medication. I’m getting older now too, which sucks. I’ve always taken care of my body. I am a health nut. Things that my body normally bounces back from it doesn’t anymore. I’ve been sober almost a year now and I’m happy and healthy. 10
grows. Your paycheck will grow. Everything grows.
“I had to re-learn my role as a leader and as a women leader. I wanted to be somebody who was pushing and leading the charge of women leading. I really wanted to speak for women.” C: During this time period that you’ve been sober, have there been times where you think maybe you can just have one drink? S: I haven’t thought that way. I have thought what if I do get to a
place where I think I’m ok to have one drink, and I can’t. I can’t do that and I know that. I stay consistent. You can’t just relax and think it’s fine. It’s not fine. Social media memories will remind me and I think it’s a humbling moment. I really think we need jumbling moments in our life to appreciate what we have.
C: What made you decide to really focus on women empowerment and helping other women realize the powerhouses they are? S: I have always championed women but I really didn’t know how
or what I should say to women. I didn’t have a laser focus until I was going through the last 3 years which really showed me the male dominance is still there. In the industry that I work in, you have all these great women who are worker bees making great money. They’re successful and running the show, but there are still the 5 top guys. Men are so important in society and in everything we do, I never want to take away from the men. We need the men, we need the masculine man. We need our women to stand up and have this feminine side of power. We just talked about this on my show with a guest, Mindy Davey. She’s a young women who came into the entertainment industry. I asked Mindy how it was being a young woman in an industry still hugely dominated by men. I want to show these women that they do have the power to stand up and be stronger in this. I’ve overcome a lot of things and I’m proud I’m still here. It doesn’t mean I still don’t have bad days. I’ll be honest I was broken, but I became something more and I’m a lot more humble now. I know where I came from and I know what I’ve got. I’m so grateful for all the storms and the BS that I went through because without it I wouldn’t be here. I had to be broken to be better. What I’ve learned is that if you just keep taking action every day, you’re going to be so much better than you were in a year. When I make my goals now, I look at things differently. I don’t invest in something and think what am I going to get out of this right now, or am I going to make money tomorrow? That’s not how I think anymore. Now, the first thing I ask is number one will this grow me? That I feel is the most important. Am I going to grow from this or am I going to go backwards? Number two, a year from now, will it have impacted me? Those are the two questions I ask now. It’s a completely different shift from “is this going to make me money?”, “How am I going to make money?”. I mean yes, we want to make money and things, but sometimes you’re investing in yourself. When you grow, everything 11
C: As you were growing, building and had to take a moment to reassess and readjust, let’s talk about being a female entrepreneur. When things were difficult and hit the fan, who did you decide to keep in your circle and how? How do you know who to keep around and who to let go? S: I always talk about colleagues, confidants and comrades. I use
to think everyone was my confidant and everyone was my best friend. When you are first in business and building businesses, you’re having fun and everyone loves you. When everyone is winning, everyone is happy. You find out when people get hit with challenges in life that’s when you weed out those people. I stopped going into every relationship thinking people were my best friends. I identified who they are to me. This is really important in business and I hope a lot of women take this advice because it happens a lot. Only confide in your trusted people. This may not be people you work with. I have two best friends, and they’re my best friends, that’s it. Your colleagues are the people you work with. These people are going to be respectful of you, you’re going to respect them and you’ll hustle together. You’ll work together and grow together. Sometimes, those people decide to do other things that are not in your world anymore, or it was a season for them and that’s ok. You may have put energy into these people but you didn’t put all of your energy into these people because you knew they were a colleague. Your comrades are with you for the war. If you are fighting a challenge, they’re going to fight it with you. They are not your friend and they make it clear. You are not their friend, and when the war is over they leave. As long as you know who they are it’s awesome. You love comrades during the fight. After it settles you don’t need a comrade because it’s negative and they usually go away anyways. Comrades are really cool because they’ll let themselves out the door very quickly. There were a few people when I had to make some shifts that I lost that I was really sad about. I really cared and loved them. When I looked back and processed it though, I looked at it in a different way. I was grateful for the season and time we had. I try not to get so emotional with people now, and that’s where emotional intelligence comes in. I’ve really tried to practice that over the last three years. When it comes to reacting or not reacting, sometimes it’s as simple as you just do not respond. I will not get into a battle in a text message, but five years ago I would’ve. No response is the best response, and that’s control. It doesn’t mean you’re happy, it doesn’t mean anything. Sometimes, you can practice taking breaths and walking away from a situation. Be smart about your responses. Reactivity is something that was so high for me at the beginning of my business life, and I look back now and I can’t believe that’s how I responded. It’s because we have egos and need to be right! You’re still going to make mistakes. I can’t just stand here today and say I’m emotionally intelligent. Tomorrow I may not be. You’re going to get tested and challenged. I’ve also been very blessed to always have people who have had my back. That’s something you really need to have in business. They don’t need to necessarily be your friend, but someone who has your back. You also need people who are emotionally intelligent with you that understand you and give you grace. The more money you make, the more business, the more things you have, there are going to be things that happen that are high level all the time. It’s not just one time. You asked for it. You asked to levelup. This is what leveling up looks like. If you want to level up, GET READY. You have more responsibility number 1. You don’t just make this money and sit there and say “wow”. You’re going to have more challenges than you’ve ever had, and just remember you asked for it. There are blessings though, there are blessings in everything, but know that there are challenges. You are being prepared, molded, sculpted, however you want to say it,
12
S: it’s preparing you for more. There are days where I feel
so stupid. I know now that feeling is the best feeling. I know that this moment I’m feeling like this is great. I think about all that I’m going to be able to do in the future with the new knowledge in gaining. I’ve never done podcasts before so it’s cool to start learning the “ins and outs” of it. It takes time. You can be scared but you’ll be growing. There’s something that changed in me in the last year where I started to imagine standing outside of myself, and realized every time I felt scared or went through something, I’ve come out better. So why wouldn’t I do it all the time? It’s such a simple basic thing and every top leader, every millionaire and billionaire, says the same thing. You have to go through it to come out on the other side. Everyone is so afraid. You can be afraid, but don’t stop doing. Don’t stop taking action. It’s ok to suck, and it’s going to suck! I have days where I don’t feel like I know what I am doing. I have my strength and my weaknesses. If you put me into a room with bank people and financial professionals, I will need them to dumb it down. Now I’m going into this world where I’m learning about investing and I should’ve done this a long time ago. But I’m doing it now.
C: Can you tell us about what you have going on currently in the direct sales and coaching world? S: I beleive the direct sales and coaching space is fantastic.
I’m friends with most of the coaches and I absolutely love and adore them. They know what they’re doing. My passion doesn’t necessarily coming from training in that space because I’ve done it for so long. I still do it. I will always lend a hand where needed. I’ve seen a lot of people put in the time, have invested a lot and they do such an amazing job. I do feel there are plenty of coaches in that space. I didn’t feel like I should be a network marketing coach. I respect it, I love training and do that, but I wanted to be something a little bit more broad like a consultant. More like someone who provides connections and mentors in health, fitness and business. I wanted to be more of a guide and help them, but it’s their deal. I am more of a connector. If you’re coming on to work with me, I don’t do things “cookie cutter”. I don’t have this one program that everyone does. We are going to tackle what you need. Some people need spiritual help or guidance. Some people need actual work like light work or trauma help. I’m connected to those people because my experience has gotten me to this place where I have connections in the business and spiritual world. I also have connections for health and fitness and celebrity trainers. I want to find the right people that work for each person. Most of the time when people need help it has nothing to do with business. It’s stuff that’s not going to get tackled in a PDF. We do need that stuff though as basics. A lot of times though, when I have people come to me and they want to be a 6-7 figure income earner, their issue is not what they’re posting on social media. Their issue is what’s going on withthe inside and they need to fix it or nothing is going to get fixed. Most people need to deal with their shit and they have to heal it. If they don’t, that’s what’s coming into their business and personal life. I have had ups and downs in my business and personal life and it was all from the same stuff. You need somebody who is going to tell you the truth and the tough love. I didn’t want to be just in the direct sales industry, I wanted to be able to personalize it. I started it because I feel like their are a lot of connections and places for people to go, they just need somebody to help them. 13
“You have to go through it to come out on the other side. Everyone is so afraid. You can be afraid, but don’t stop doing. Don’t stop taking action. ” C: What are the top two pieces of advice you could give to other leaders that you use and learned that you find effective?
S: First and foremost you have to be 100% accountable. I said this in the
past few interviews I’ve had because a lot of times you see people that are always the victims. It’s this persons fault, my leaders fault, my sponsors fault etc. Here’s the deal, the buck stops at you. You are a business person and you are an entrepreneur. Elon Musk said it “If you need motivation to be an entrepreneur, you’re not going to be an entrepreneur.” Get it out of your head. It’s not sunshine and rainbows everyday, but if you can take 100% accountability for all of the things, that is good. That does not mean fall on the sword when its not your fault. It does mean look at the entire picture and most of the time, your decision led you to that ultimate thing. Everything that seems terrible at the time is. Change your perspective and mindset to have an attitude of gratitude. When I see myself spiraling, it’s because I’m out of gratitude. I have champagne problems. We live in a first world country where everyone has a cell phone no matter who you are. This does not downplay people who are going through things, it’s just the truth. When people come into this victim mentality “woe is me”, do something about it! You have to be 100% accountable and you have to take action. No matter how bad or hard it is. Even if the action is making the bed or cleaning the kitchen, you did something. Get up, and when the days suck, just get at least something done. If you do this consistently, every time, you can look back and see what you did over the last 6 months. You did something each day towards your goal. You’re going to be in a better place than you would be if you did nothing.
C: When you started making a lot of money, what is the first thing you got yourself that when you got it, you took a moment, and gave yourself a proud pat on the back? S: It’s interesting and may not be what you expect. I went and bought a car
for myself. It was only a $10,000 car. It was a really cool custom antique car. I drove by it, and I decided to buy it with cash. I’ve bought other things and I’ve had nice things in my life, but for some reason that one is memorable.
C: What is a quote that you keep in the forefront of you mind that when you’re not having such an amazing day, it helps you move forward?
S: When I had a breakdown last summer and I was making changes, I had a
every day mantra, “actions speak louder”, meaning I have to show and prove myself. Nobody cares what I say. It doesn’t matter what you say, it matters what you do. Your actions speak louder. I think a lot of people want to prove themselves with words and they want to post on social media. We are in a social media world. I could get on my podcast and talk all day but it’s really my actions that speak louder for me. People know me as “I show up”. One of the biggest strengths that I could say I have in my life is no matter how terrible, I’ll show up. People will remember this though. I think that’s one thing people miss in business and the leadership world, you have to show up! You don’t have to be perfect but you have to show everyone that you’re going to be there tomorrow. Nobody wants to join someone where they don’t know where she is or what she is doing.

BE A REBEL
LEAD OUT LOUD By: Shylo Eckstrom www.shyloeckstrom.com My journey in entrepreneurship has led me down many incredible and amazing paths. Hell, it got me here the cover of a high end Luxury Magazine featuring the world’s top business men and women. The reality behind all that makeup, hair and fun clothes was a pretty, messy and humble beginning. A small town girl, the daughter of a train conductor and a town with more bars than gas stations, we lived an interesting yet adventurous life. By the age of six I had watched the exorcist and had my first cigarette. You could say I grew up quickly. My parents were incredible so before I dive in they gave us everything we ever needed and loved us. They did however, enjoy time down the street while us kids took care of each other at times. We watched horror films, had adventures and were all little street hustlers in our own rights. We grew up in a safe neighborhood where you could still play on the street and everyone was in each other’s business. My brother hit the scene when I was eight and he became my baby and best friend all at once. I made sure he was good and as he grew up we had lots of adventures. Fast forward, by the time I was in high school, I was over it and wanted to be free and party. Let’s be honest, I jumped into a fast but short lived life as I ended up dating and quickly got engaged to my boyfriend’s best friend. I got pregnant and shortly after married by the time I was nineteen. Although I am not proud of these events, it would be the biggest shift in my life and change me forever. My husband was a military man so I moved out to Hawaii on the base to be with him and our daughter. I had no friends or family, I didn’t even have a car. Long story short, it lasted 2 years and when it was all said and done I was left with a 1981 Volkswagen Cabriolet convertible (my high school car), no place to live, ruined credit and a baby. I was at my lowest. I never wanted to feel that way again. Left with nothing, I vowed to NEVER get stuck or dependant on anyone ever again.
Over the years I worked on and off as a server while I put myself through college. I got a degree as a Dental Hygienist, but always had side hustles. I got remarried, had two more kids and found myself again with my back against the wall. I fell into the network marketing world after the economy tanked and it took off. I found my voice. This shy girl is now a public speaker and currently running a sexy podcast on the Luxe Network called Grit and Grace. Network marketing is basically a self development program with a comp plan attached. I excelled and was willing to learn, grow and honestly make lots of mistakes. In a short time I became a top female in a hot company, and eventually built to this day a multi million dollar a month team of Rockstars. I struggled to find my real self for a few years. I dressed a certain way and talked a certain way, but it wasn’t until I rippled off the filter that I became vulnerable. That was when I really found true success, happiness and my voice. The key to business life is keep f’ing going, show up and be willing to be messy. Be a REBEL and lead out LOUD.

FIVE TIPS TO HELP NAVIGATE THE STORMS OF LIFE By: Corinne Cavanaugh beautybycorinne@yahoo.com
Doesn’t it feel sometimes like everywhere you turn, there’s some major hurdles in life that we need to overcome? It can often feel like we’re living in the worst times of our lives. Ask anyone who has been through major life ‘storms’ and they’ll tell you that these inner challenges are some of the most difficult to face and get through. For myself and my husband, we have had to weather many storms over the years that challenged us to the max and made us wonder if we ever will survive. Many times we have laid awake at night worrying about our children, careers, finances, aging parents, and health. Most of us can find information on how to survive external storms, but directions on how to survive inner storms are much harder to come by. Often the outer storms trigger the inner storms. 17
FIVE STEPS TO THRIVE IN LIFE’S STORMS:
1.
EXPECT THE STORM
Most of us past a certain age know this to be true. However, we manage to convince ourselves that if we do everything right, we can safely avoid the storms that life throws at us. Life HAPPENS. Crisis HAPPENS. Remind yourself that this won’t last forever. Practice gratitude so that when the storms come, the gratitude will come in the knowledge that bad times don’t last forever either.
2.
PRACTICE RESPONSIBILITY
4.
BE COMPASSIONATE WITH OTHERS
It is so easy to want to run and avoid difficult emotions. Most of us hear the word ‘responsibility’ and associate it with self-blame. However, think of it as the ability to respond to a given situation. This will help you not be swallowed up in self-pity, victim mentality or blaming yourself or others. Practicing responsibility has helped us feel more empowered to seek effective solutions to help navigate the difficult times.
There’s nothing that can quite open our eyes to the suffering of others than going through a crisis of our own. Allow your suffering to open your eyes to the suffering of others. It will be both healing to you and them.
3.
5.
LEAN ON FRIENDS AND/OR FAMILY
Isn’t it true when life is going smoothly, we freely tell our friends how great our lives are (just scroll through your social media feeds)? But, it is very difficult to turn to our friends and family during hard times. Don’t be afraid of how you might look to others. Reaching out is essential in helping you to get back on track.
SEEK A HIGHER POWER
When storms come, it’s easy to feel utterly helpless. Turning your worries and concerns over to a higher power can release the burden and anxiety that comes with feeling helpless.

DO DIETS WORK? By: Latasha Richards mrsgotrich11@gmail.com
DIETS FOR WEIGHT LOSS For weight loss programs, diets don’t work! At any given time, more than a third of Americans are on a specific diet, with weight loss as a leading reason. Most are going to be disappointed, because even when successful, lost weight is frequently regained within a few months. While most weight-loss diets can help you lose weight, they may be unsuccessful over the long run for several reasons. Some people don’t follow their diets carefully and don’t lose much weight even from the start. Others may go off the diet entirely after a while because it’s too restrictive or the foods aren’t appealing. Some may engage in less physical activity as they consume fewer calories. But who has not heard of someone doing everything right and still losing minimal weight, or regaining lost weight over time?
FAD DIETS Fad diets can be harmful. For example, they may lack essential nutrients. Moreover, they teach you nothing about healthy eating. Thus, when you’ve “completed” your fad diet, you simply boomerang back to the unhealthy eating patterns that caused your weight gain in the first place! This is the beginning of “yo-yo dieting,” which can bring its own health problems in its wake. Food is such a powerful way to bring nourishment and joy into our lives, but unfortunately, so many diets are really strict, rigid, and completely ignore this “life/joy” element. It can make you feel as if cooking is a chore, or you’re meals are unsatisfying (both on a hunger level and also an emotional level). These diets can cause you to view food only as a means to an end. They can also cause you to “look forward to” the next time you “can” eat that food which can cause a lot of stress and mental energy focusing on what you should or shouldn’t eat. Another reason why diets fail most people so often is the short-term thinking. People will start focusing on the number of days that they are on a restricted diet. Not only that, but the negative metabolic effects of chronic dieting can also last years later. Such as levels of leptin (the satiety hormone) decrease, levels of ghrelin (the hunger hormone) increase, and the ability to burn calories decreases. Most of those diets out there are not given in this sense of long-term change. Diets are designed to try to get you a big result as quickly as possible, but they often fail to then teach you how to integrate healthy eating into your life. Following a popular diet’s set of rules and guidelines does not always align with your wants and needs and your unique life. It may seem easy to pick a diet and follow it because you don’t have to think about anything. However, you end up following rules you think you “should” be doing, without actually knowing what you need in your life and why. This can make it difficult for you to integrate into your life, it can cause you to feel drained of energy or feeling like you lack motivation. In addition, you’ve started to create a new “normal” of what you should or shouldn’t be doing that you may interpret that as being a long-term change. In reality, it was originally designed to just be a short-term change/fix. Make eating healthy and working out a lifestyle and you will get long term results!

Trusting the Desire to
CHANGE
By: Tiffany Powers www.tiffanypowershealing.com
As thinking, feeling human beings, we are hardwired to resist uncertainty and change.
Uncertainty creates a strong, mostly unpleasant response in our brain’s limbic system. Even the thought of newness or change can sometimes create stress and uncertainty. Sometimes our desire to maintain the status quo in our lives prevents us from making changes in our careers, our relationships, or our living arrangements. Even the thought of making major changes is overwhelming. This resistance leads us to stay in our comfort zones too long, even when it’s no longer as comfortable as it once was. One obstacle we face in making meaningful changes is just recognizing when we are not fulfilled. We don’t always realize that there is something better out there waiting for us - a more fulfilling career, true love, or our dream home. 21
The good news is that humans are uniquely flexible and adaptive creatures - we can train our brains and ourselves to accept and even welcome change. Be definitive and swift once you make your choice. The more committed you are to your decision, the more quickly you’ll see energy moving in your desired direction. You will reach your goals much faster. Not choosing is also a choice. If you spend too long pondering a decision or change, you stay stuck. Know that you are the author of your own life and that you can change the story starting right now!
*See Next Page for Tips on making powerful changes in your life*
TIPS
Tips for trusting yourself to make powerful changes in your life.
1.
Believe that you are a powerful creator and can create change in your life whenever you want.
2.
Tell yourself that change does not need to be scary or traumatic. It can be done with ease and positive energy.
Instead of thinking “Ugh, finding a new job means learning something new and starting all over again,” rephrase it as “I’m so excited I get to learn something new! What a great opportunity!”
3. Start with small, manageable changes.
For example, instead of making your goal “to find a new career,” start small - promise yourself you will update your resume today. Tomorrow, make your goal to sign up for a job search engine.
4. Write down the specific changes you wish to see.
Instead of just thinking “I promise I’m going to get healthy this summer,” write down “I will drink eight glasses of water a day and stick to one cup of coffee in the morning,” and put that on your refrigerator or somewhere else you can see it.
5. If you are the logical type who likes to weigh options, make pros and cons lists to visualize the outcome of the changes you’re considering.
6. Meditate on the idea.
Be open to all ideas. What is next? Be open to soulmates, places to live, what you want in your career.
7. Make a concrete plan to execute these changes.
There are some great goal planners/journals out there. Invest in a cute one that you like. It will help you break your goal into small steps and keep you accountable.
8. Ask someone you trust to be your accountability partner.
Explain your goals to them and have them check in with you once in a while. Knowing we are accountable to someone else is very motivating. Let’s face it - we’ll let ourselves down, but we hate letting others down, right?

HOW TO GO FROM SURVIVING TO THRIVING! By: Reina Carrillo rcarrillo.wfg@gmail.com
SURVIVING
THE JOURNEY
Reflecting on my past and where I grew up it’s a miracle to other’s but for me it’s was my mindset. Growing up in a urban city called Inglewood that was a very gang infested community. It was truly hard to be positive but we have a choice in life, at the time I didn’t believe I had a choice to succeed. I fell into that trap at the age of thirteen years old. I had a victim mentality it all started when I blamed God for being molested at the age of six or seven years old. In middle school I accepted that I wouldn’t make it to the age of eighteen. When I survived everything I graduated from high school and went into survival mode hustle but try to have the American Dream get the college degree, get a job, get married, buy a house, and create a family life. It took years to for me to change my mindset. My mindset shifted when I met my first millionaire mentor Guillermo Haro. He taught me to believe in myself, manifest, take action, and create my life. That’s how I got started in the Financial Industry. My mentor Guillermo taught me to dream big and never give up. I have not yet arrived but when I think about my first car it was a bucket a Ford Fairmount called Betsy and now I’m driving my dream car a Bentley. Boy, I have came along way. My mindset has changed and thats the key. How did I start to thrive? All my mentors including the CEO of this magazine Candice Bar, Pastor Mel Salas from The GREAT I AM Faith Center, NLP Leadership Coach Trainer Shiny Unsal, Transformational Trainer Diana Miranda with Life Works, and the Bible (Basic Instruction Before Leaving Earth) my favorite Bible verse: Proverbs 29:18- “Where there is no vision, the people perish.”
THRIVING
1. REEVALUATE YOUR CIRCLE 2. CREAT YOUR VISION BOARD 3. SURROUND YOURSELF WITH WINNERS 4. FIND A MENTOR 5. JOIN A CHURCH/GROUP 6. FIND A COACH 7. ATTEND A LIFE CHANGING EVENT

HOW TO STAY
STRONG WHEN YOU ARE TRIGGERED By: Jennifer Gimenez jenngimenez@yahoo.com
With
all the obstacles we face on a day to day basis, life can be overwhelming. Well, that’s an understatement! Especially in the “new normal” we are in today. I don’t care who you are, where you come from or what your status is; we all have triggers. A lot of people can relate to the words and idea of being triggered, but “WHY are you being triggered” and “WHERE is it coming from” are really the questions we should be asking each other. I’ll be completely open and honest with you; every one of us has experienced some type of traumatic event. The loss of a family member, loved one or a friend. It could also be something someone said or did to you. It could be a bad experience you had. Once this happens and we don’t talk about it, we then surpress it one way or another. For me it was with drugs and alcohol. Who am I kidding, it was anything that made me forget that situation or experience ever happened, until more and more happened. Today I am 15 1/2 years sober. You see I wasn’t dealing with the problem, I was trying to run and numb myself from it. Unfortunately my solutions became drugs and alcohol. For other people it could be the same or it could being bringing that pain and anger home. It could be depression, anxiety, suicidal thoughts, isolation, gambling, sex addiction- the list goes on. It’s all different things to try to escape our reality. So many people are so scared to want to confront their past. Why is that? Why are we so afraid of the boogie man under the bed? We search the house-see no ghost. We search the room and even under the bed-see not ghost. We find out the boogie man was never really there. It was always in our head. My husband, Tim Ryan and I work in the health and wellness field. We deal with a lot of people struggling with mental health and substance abuse. We speak internationally on topics such as mental health, suicide, bullying, addiction and alcoholism. One thing thats hit us hard is the youth of America, kids from the ages of 12 to 18 years old. 75% of these kids have triggers, trauma and have zero support or help to cope with life today. If our youth are in crisis, how many of you reading this are and are now saying, “hey, I have some issues too”? Let’s talk some solutions so we do not need to be haunted by our past anymore. For starters, therapy. There is such a stigma with people seeing a therapist. I’ll be the first to say Thank God for therapy. I’ve been consistent with therapy for 15+ years. 29
Counseling, support groups, working out, eating healthy, self care, meditation, breaks from technology, long walks etc. can all be beneficial in healing from trauma and recognizing triggers.
The thing that baffles me is people will get home improvements, have the nice car detailed, dress for successbut many people do not want to help themselves internally. We can also use support groups, working out, eating better, self care, meditation, turn off technology, go for a long walk, etc. However, if we do not make changes to better ourselves, our “triggers” will control us forever.
Stop, pause and breathe. You get out of life what you put into it. Put in place a solution to your triggers. It is important for you to know that what has happened in your life that was negative, can be turned into a positive that helps yourself and others.
EFFICIENCY & EFFORT By: Chelsea Rosa chelsea@candicebarint.com
Efficiency and Effort are prominent factors that will play into the successes and failures of your business and work ethic. What does it means to be efficient? Getting the best job done in the fastest way possible. Our effort comes from our desire to get something done. Some tasks we may need to push ourselves more than others to give our best effort. As entrepreneurs, we have picked what we would like to do to make a living! We have that freedom, however, there will still be things that you may not want to do that you have to do. Giving maximum effort to everthing we do, the fun things and the not so fun things, will be what sets you a part from everyone else. You have to put in the effort. Not just one time, but ALL the time. You represent your product, business, company, creation etc. If you are not putting in the effort consistently, this will show. Consistency is important in many areas of business, but consistent effort is the upmost important. Example, if we eat very healthy 1 out of 7 days of the week, but the other 6 days we eat junk food etc., we are still consuming 90% junk food for that week. If you are putting in 100% effort to your work even only 3 days of the week, you still are only putting in great effort 30% of the time that week. Take a moment and think about where your effort being placed? Are there some tasks that could use more from you? No one said it was easy or fun, but if this is the life you asked for, you might as well do it well!
PLAN AHEAD
Be aware of what you would like to get accomplished! As entrepreneurs and business minded people, we usually are always on the go. Whether it is traveling, phone meetings, sending emails, scheduling meetings etc, we have a lot going on! Oh! Never mind your personal life! Planning days ahead of time when you know you have an extremely busy week ahead is necessary. If you are traveling, there are so many things to think about; and if you aren’t thinking about them then you probably should start! Example: If you are traveling, are your clothes clean? Do you need to do laundry before you pack? Are you waiting until the last minute to pack and then realizing you need to do laundry, but your time was allotted to work meetings. Now, the next morning instead of relaxing and focusing on your work meetings with a clear mind allowing you to be efficient, you need to do laundry in between meetings and pack with the 10-15 minutes you have before the airport! Plan ahead and these things will not happen, or will have a smaller chance of happening. We are only human, right?
NO PROCRASTINATING Do not procrastinate! Yes, there are times where you need to SHUT OFF the computer and take a break, but procrastinating will only cause you to regret not doing something sooner. You will end up rushing, overwhelmed, anxious and none of those work in favor towards positive outcomes.
MAKE LISTS
I think of my list as an extension of my brain. Do you feel like your brain is constantly running over the “metal list” of what needs to get done? Afraid that if we don’t keep thinking about it we will forget it? Well, creating a physical list or one that is on your phone/computer can fix this. To start, I recommend creating a list every night before bed. Write down each task you would like to complete for the following day. From that list, you can then prioritize. Some of the tasks NEED to get done that day, some of them you can carry over to the next day. Periodically throughout the day, check in on your list and make sure you are on track to complete the items that need to be done. Another factor to think about other than prioritizing tasks is having the proper timing.
STAY ORGANIZED
Take the time to properly file documents or save them to your computer in a well labeled place you will find it. If you are spending time trying to find things in order to complete a task, this decreases your efficient ability to get things done. Think of how much time could be saved if you stay attentive and organized with things in your life.
