NEW YEAR’S RESOLUTIONS FOR YOU…AND YOUR HOME
If you are anything like I am, your New Year’s resolutions include getting back into the gym, finishing fewer slices of pizza, and spending more time with family and friends. It is a healthy practice to always look for ways to improve, and the same goes for our homes.
Along with your personal resolutions, make some for your home as well. Write down all the projects that you would like to do around your home, large and small, from immediate needs to future dreams. If major projects aren’t in 2019’s budget, there are several clever ways to freshen up the tired spaces on your list:
WALLPAPER
When you need a big impact, consider adding wallpaper. The always-friendly and helpful ladies at KASA Wallpaper Studio on Western can show you so many interesting textures, colors, and styles ranging from retro to modern and geometric to floral. Splurge on something exciting that will be the focal point of your room, and that dated shower tile or worn hardwood flooring may not bother you so much.
COUNTERTOPS
New countertops are also a relatively simple and fast upgrade. The right durable solid surface can add to resale value as well. I love the newest designs from Cambria®, the only family-owned, American-made quartz countertop supplier. The Cambria® lifetime warranty guarantees that your countertop will stand up to that red wine you spilled and forgot to clean up before getting the kids (and yourself) to bed!
HARDWARE
New decorative hardware is one of my favorite and affordable ways to update your cabinetry! The talented team at Wilshire Cabinet + Co can help you select the perfect complement for your space. You’d be amazed at how your Golden Oak cabinetry is transformed by matte black or black nickel! Gold is very on-trend right now, and I believe that copper will be coming around the bend soon, so take a chance and have some fun with the metallic finish families. Design trends come and go, but so can your hardware – it truly is your home’s jewelry! With a small investment of dollars and time and a Phillips screwdriver, you can change a room’s entire style.
These are just a few ideas for small projects that you can get started on now. If 2019 has larger projects in store for you, then don’t miss the next issue of Luxiere. I will be sharing with you the trends, innovations, new products and techniques that I find at the 2019 Design & Construction Week in Las Vegas. I normally advise against drinking and designing…but who can resist a cocktail and the latest new products in Sin City?!!! Until next time, best of luck on keeping those New Year’s resolutions!
CHEERS, Travis
