Apparently, when we said the next issue of LuxuryHomeMagazine would be our Winter issue, the Lowcountry took it as a challenge and gave us the first snow in eight years! Charleston turned into a winter wonderland with snow angels on King Street, sleds hitched to cars gliding down streets, and the usual joggers on the Ravenel Bridge swapped for ambitious snowboarding attempts. Even the city’s iconic wrought iron gates became portals to snowy blankets covering perfectly manicured lawns, proving that this city knows how to make the most of a rare snowfall.
Looking ahead into the new year, the luxury home market is infused with a sense of positivity and innovation.
I find myself excited about the endless exploration of refined living that inspires us to dream bigger. Maybe it’s that I am a hopeless romantic - or perhaps it’s because I’m a Gamecock. To me, they are one in the same.
Fornow,I’mgoingtocontinuetocelebratethosethreepoints.
I invite you to view this issue as your gateway to inspiration, showcasing the beauty, sophistication, and creativity that define the Lowcountry’s most extraordinary homes.

As the luxury market continues to evolve, we find timeless elegance blending with modern priorities. Economic recovery is driving renewed confidence, while younger generations are reshaping real estate with their passion for sustainability and smart design. Green technologies and bespoke craftsmanship now stand alongside architectural grandeur as hallmarks of today’s luxury homes. Anything and everything is possible, and each day invites unlimited possibilities.
Inside the pages of this February/March issue, you will find a carefully curated selection of exceptional properties that represent the pinnacle of Charleston’s real estate, the businesses that stand beside them, and an editorial that explains the upcoming trends to combine all of the above. Each page is an opportunity to live your dreams.
I am excited as Charleston begins another vibrant year, starting with two marquee events that celebrate the city’s unparalleled lifestyle. The first is SEWE (Southeastern Wildlife Exposition), which invites us to connect with fine art and wildlife. It’s a cherished tradition marking the start of Charleston’s tourism season. Following closely in March, the Charleston Wine + Food Festival takes center stage- uniting culinary masters, wine connoisseurs, and food lovers in an unforgettable showcase of flavor and creativity. These events embody the charm and sophistication that make the Lowcountry so remarkable.
Whether you’re searching for your next dream home, exploring design possibilities, or simply seeking inspiration for how to live the best possible life of luxury- this issue is a celebration of what’s possible when beauty, innovation, and luxury converge.
Here’s to 2025-a year of elegance, optimism, and living exquisitely.

Welcome to the ever-upgrading world of luxury homes, where the only thing more impressive than a prime location are the jaw-dropping extras tucked inside (or outside). In this whirlwind of elevating the residential world to match the finest possible expressions of identity, comfort, and lifestyle, one thing is certain: luxury living isn’t just evolving, it’s turning into an art that would have legends like Scott Frances and David T. Johnson scrambling to emulate. So, pour yourself a glass of Domaine de la Romanée-Conti Grand Cru 1945 (or whatever gets you through the day), and let’s explore the trends that are taking extravagance to a whole new level, one spectacular feature at a time.
Gone are the days of tanning by the pool; now homeowners are splurging on custom indoor aquatic retreats that rival Olympic swimming arenas. I will not comment on whether Michael Phelps is on the guest list; because that would be a direct violation of the NDA I signed at the door. Oh! And many homes are also adding glass walls looking outside for that “I’m one with nature” vibe- and enough lounge chairs to host the whole neighborhood. These aquatic marvels allow you to swim laps in the comfort of your air conditioning- and- don’t forget to add an adjacent swim-up bar. I mean, constant hydration is key! Obviously.
To follow up on that whole “I’m one with nature” spiel from the previous item on our list, living in luxury doesn’t mean being disconnected from nature. Enter biophilic design, where homes embrace the outdoors with oversized windows, indoor gardens, and walls clad in lush green moss. Imagine taking a conference call with a waterfall softly trickling in the background, or meditating beside your in-home bamboo grove. Think floor-to-ceiling glass that invites sunlight to dance across every corner, while natural materials like stone and reclaimed wood create an eco-chic vibe. It’s luxury living that feels alive, literally. It’s not just about looking pretty, it’s about making you feel like you’re on a peaceful nature retreat, even if you’re stuck on Zoom calls all day.
We touched on this in the Dec/Jan issue of LHM. In a world where technology does everything but wash your dog (I’ll expand on this in a moment), smart homes are the latest status symbol for the elite. Imagine telling your house to brew your morning coffee, adjust the lighting for your 4 p.m. mood swings, and even order your favorite organic, gluten-free avocado toast from that artisanal café down the street. All this can be done with just your voice.
Why bother with the local gym when you can have your very own state-ofthe-art fitness haven in the comfort of your home? Luxury homes are now incorporating expansive gyms complete with personal trainers, virtual fitness classes, and perhaps even an infrared sauna or steam room- because working out should feel like a vacation, right? Decked out with the latest tech, your home gym can include everything from Pelotons, Pilates reformers, to massage tables and personal yoga instructors- making it nearly impossible to skip leg day when you can roll out of bed and straight into your personal paradise of health.
Outdoor living spaces are the new black. Forget basic patios, herb gardens, and pergolas; we’re talking full-on outdoor living rooms equipped with plush couches, ornate stone fireplaces, and fully functional kitchens. I mean, who wants to walk inside to grill a steak? Certainly not someone like you! These lavish setups often feature high-definition outdoor televisions and Bluetooth-enabled sound systems, so you can watch the big game while sipping cocktails and taking in some fresh air. Nothing says luxury like watching your favorite movie under the stars.
I guess saving the planet finally caught on in some way or another. Let’s face it: You can’t be a true luxury homeowner without being environmentally consciousor pretending to be for that matter. Enter eco-friendly materials! Luxury homes are now being built with sustainable resources like reclaimed wood and recycled metals. The twist? These materials often come with a hefty price tag, making your home not just a green oasis, but also a more expensive one than you originally dished out. But hey, who doesn’t want to save the planet while showing off their exotic bamboo floors? Just don’t tell your new pet Giant Pandas you adopted from China on your last business trip.
Gone are the days when a kitchen was merely a place to toast a bagel, flip pancakes, and prep Sunday dinner. In today’s luxury homes, the kitchen is a total culinary experience. We now welcome you to the era of the chefs’ kitchens; an elite space so exclusive, it might even make Joël Robuchon blush or jealous with envy. Think double islands for prepping and plating, professional-grade (smart) appliances, and enough countertop space to host a cooking show on your YouTube or TikTok channel. Add a custom walk-in pantry the size of a small apartment, a wine fridge stocked with vintages you’d need a mortgage to afford- and you’re more golden than Ponyboy. Wait! Don’t forget the pièce de
résistance: a wood-fired pizza oven, because you should never settle for delivery when you can handcraft your own margherita masterpiece. Bon appétit!
Christian Grey has met his soulmate in a monochromatic trend that’s giving luxury homes an ultra-sleek, gallery-like ambiance. From all-white marble kitchens that scream sophistication to charcoal-hued bedrooms that could double as James Bond’s lair- sticking to one color never looked so suave. To keep it luxe, it’s all about the textures: pair soft velvet couches with matte stone walls, glossy finishes with plush rugs. Add metallic accents like brushed gold or polished silver and voilà, you’ve got a space that’s as photogenic as it is highclass. Because in the world of monochrome, the devil (and the decadence) is in the details.
While wandering through the stunning Carolina Lanterns showroom in Mt. Pleasant, SC, I realized great lighting can do more than brighten a room; it can totally upgrade your life. Layered lighting adds depth, sculptural fixtures double as art, and warm color temperatures make everyone look fabulous. Minimalist designs keep things chic, lit mirrors feel glam, and illuminated ribbed glass adds a modern edge. Mood lighting sets the vibe, while vintage pieces and mosaic chandeliers bring timeless charm. If happiness starts with good lighting, I’m officially sold!
Long gone are the days of the backyard doghouse- now luxury homes are embracing the all-encompassing pet suite. From built-in feeding stations and sleek designer bowls, to high-end pet crawl spaces and custom dog washing stations; these spaces are designed with both style and practicality in mind. It’s not just about keeping your furry friend clean (though those non-slip surfaces and efficient drains are a lifesaver), it’s about creating a personalized haven that seamlessly blends into your home’s design. Add in a built-in spot for Chauncy’s collection of Louis Vuitton collars and leashes, and it’s clear that pets aren’t just family, they’re living a dream worthy of someone’s Pinterest wish-list.
In conclusion, luxury living is no longer just about opulence; it’s about convenience, technology, and a splash of environmental consciousness. With these latest trends in luxury living, you can still live like royalty, while enjoying all the modern comforts that come with it. So, whether you’re swimming in your indoor pool, checking your pup into his/her own dog spa, lighting up a room with selfie-worthy aesthetics, or asking your smart home to fetch your vegan snacks- I ask you to please remember it’s not just a home- it’s a lifestyle.
Albeit a lifestyle so posh, even the caviar asks for an invitation.
