Landscape architect Robert Bell collaborates with clients to decide on their garden’s central statement piece, such as a striking sculpture, vintage bench, or modern frivolity. A well-curated piece can define the garden’s scale or mood and serve as a visual focal point to guide you through the space. He builds the garden’s design around the art in conjunction with the existing architecture, integrating lush plantings and custom hardscape features. In Palm Beach, Bell sources artisanal, hand-made elements to add detail and dimension, including curlicue wrought iron gates, glazed clay tiles, and hand-hewn textured coral. To complement the tropical Florida vegetation, he adorns the landscape with a variety of vivid

Gates and pergolas are constructed with light-colored woods like ipe or carved teak with stainless vvsteel fastenings, paired with grasses and taller plants like bluestars and Russian sage that ripple in the wind and display a gentle liveliness. From swirling kinetic sculptures that act as weathervanes to dramatic forms that double as furniture, each element in the garden works together in harmony to create an added dimension to the property and delight those who step inside or catch a glimpse from afar.

manda Reynal Interiors was one of the top designers selected to participate in this year’s Kips Bay Palm Beach House. We caught up with Amanda to get her slant on the latest designer trends.
Q: How was the experience at KBPB this year? A: It was a wonderful experience! The pulse down here with the trades and clients was incredible. The Kips Bay showhouse is planned far in advance, and the selected finalists are informed in late November, then given room assignments after. We measured in December and installed February, which is a very short turn around under the best of circumstances. Q: How do you view Palm Beach? A: Palm Beach is a young, dynamic, and diverse community, shifting from the staid Palm Beach of yesterday. I grew up spending a lot of time in the Palm Beach area and have long time family roots. I look forward to opening my West Palm Beach showroom in the near future.
Q: What design trends are you seeing post-pandemic? A: Focus on the home remains strong, with homeowners expressing a new found appreciation and refuge in the home. What we want out of our homes is to focus on our personal environments more. Bringing joy into our everyday lives within our own habitats; which is a natural extension on how we already design. Our designs incorporate the whole family: children, dogs, and extended family members. Adding a punch, take risks, is where the deep rewards are found. Working with a client the second time around, the clients remarked, “Finding the things we like the most, [which] we initially thought were risky, are the ones you recommended.” For example, colorfully painted woodwork and cabinetry is a great way to express your style. I encourage my clients to go with something that isn’t in their comfort zone. Pictorial wall coverings are another great place to start. Choose something that can feel comfortable and happy. Another way to add color is to incorporate rich lush greenery and colorful flowers all the time. Bring the colors inside! Look for Amanda Reynal’s new book on design, due out in Fall 2023.

he old saying tells us to dress for success. That’s an easy task to achieve when the closet that greets us each morning is already dressed for success. This space is one that almost no visitors ever see, but it’s one that is a worthwhile investment for personal enjoyment and ease of use.
For this primary bedroom closet, I wanted to create a space that was chic and elegant yet functional. When designing a closet, the contents are the main event, and showcasing fashionable and functional pieces comes first. And I have some tips that I’m thrilled to share with you. Once you rethink and redo your closet, it will be so stylish and functional that you will be excited to dress in the room each morning and linger while changing for an evening out. MIRROR, MIRROR. One of the closet must-haves is a mirror and it should be full length. In this closet, I applied mirrors in two spaces. The first comes on the cabinets. It’s where the owners of this home can see themselves at once. I also added a mirror to the wall in the built-in dresser niche. It’s the perfect spot to put on jewelry and check make-up and hair once last time.
