• Frequency of claims has an impact on premiums. For example, using an auto policy repeatedly for towing a vehicle is a low dollar claim but can still have impact on premiums. Tactic – consider something like AAA for towing coverages rather than the auto insurance policy.

Have We Just Seen Peak Mortgage Rates?

As the song says, “Every rose has its thorn, just like every night has its dawn”… Overall, the housing market has been in a recession for the last two years driven by a rapid rise in mortgage interest rates and a perceived lack of inventory. However, a housing recovery may be coming faster than some may think.

In recent weeks, economic data has shown improved inflation numbers. This combined with slower job growth, slower economic activity and a pending national election, there is now a 90% chance of the Federal Reserve Board cutting rates in September.

What does that mean for housing? Well, as mortgage rates go down…more buyers will be coming to the market and we may see more multiple offer scenarios. Of course, lower mortgage rates are great for homebuyers…but, if it means more competition for buyers, it may raise sales prices.

So, with 26 years of mortgage industry experience, my recommendation and crystal ball says… work with a Real Estate Professional, find the house you love and buy it today before the crazy competition comes back (There’s a lot of pent up demand). As rates lower (which they should over the next year), you will have the opportunity to take advantage of lower rates and payments.
