Where are you from and how long have you lived in San Antonio?

I was born in San Antonio 42 years ago and I am darn proud of this city I call home. It never ceases to amaze me that San Antonio has become one of the largest cities in America but has never lost its “small town” feel. We have a tremendous real estate market which provides access to homeownership for all income levels, we love our military men and women, the food is amazing, the people are super friendly and hospitable, the scenery is remarkable, and we have the Spurs ...what else do you need? I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to raise my family in San Antonio…I even live in the same neighborhood I grew up in.

Why Mortgage?

For the past 21 years I’ve been helping families with their personal dreams of homeownership. I truly believe that owning real estate is one of the best ways for families to create wealth. So, whether someone is buying their first home or their fifth, it is our job to foster responsible and comfortable financing options for that family.

My passion gives me power. I really do care about helping families have the best possible home buying or refinancing experience. Getting a mortgage does not need to be rocket science, nor is it as simple as pushing a button. I’ve literally helped thousands of families with their financing needs and I’m yet to find two people with the same situation. Consumers should work with local mortgage professionals that provide the right balance of technology and touch rather than someone sitting in a cubicle 1,500 miles away. They need to work with people that have a vested interest in their community.

Who has been your biggest influence on your career to this point?

My mother and father are easily the biggest influences on my career. My mother fought cancer for over a year and was working as a public defender 3 weeks before her death. Her strength to work through the pain and still take care of others was inspiring. My father instilled Kipling’s “If” in me since I was a child. These amazing people pushed me to improve every day.

What is your favorite quote?

People follow me on twitter (@jhpHudson) and read my daily motivational thought to start the day. Here’s a good one from Jeffrey Gitomer, “The golden rule of leadership and life? Do the right thing ALL of the time.”
