THE RUMA CONCEPT HOTEL THE MALAYSIAN CULTURAL DESIGN The holistic approach to the spatial design integrates local artisanal crafts to form a strong sense of context. The restaurant, for example, decorative elements found at the weekend markets on the outskirts of the capital city are done partially in gold as a way to link them together.

CASA COOK EL GOUNA ZEN & COZY WITH A LOT OF DESIGN The Casa Cook vernacular embraces the Greek concept of parea, the celebration of coming together to make memories. Located at the threshold of the Red Sea, Casa Cook El Gouna in Egypt—the second in the brand’s portfolio—echoes the German hotel company’s style while also drawing inspiration from the surrounding blue lagoons, rolling dunes, and sweeping views.

AMAN KYOTO MODERN Meandering pathways and slabs of moss-cloaked stone define the tranquil, secluded gardens that are home to the Aman Kyoto. The 26-room resort, the third Aman in Japan. Originally home to a textile museum, the ancient garden now comprises the arrival, living, dining, spa, and guest pavilions that at times appear to seamlessly merge with the surroundings. Rejuvenation awaits across the sprawling 80-acre site, where yoga and guided meditation classes are held on a secret clearing and natural hot springs offer a modern onsen experience.

LE COUCOU COLD BUT GOLD Located close to Le Rond-Point des Pistes, the 55-room Le Coucou, which opened late last year as part of the budding Maisons Pariente collection of hotels, was designed by Pierre Yovanovitch, principal and founder of his eponymous Paris- and New York-based firm.

OLEA ALL SUITE HOTEL ZEN & COZY WITH A LOT OF DESIGN Perched on a hill, nestled among ancient olive trees with views of the Ionian Sea, the 93-room Olea All Suite Hotel on the Greek island of Zakynthos merges soothing colors and materials with a property. Starting at the reception where two glass pendants float above the oakand marble-clad desk, the resort combines a modern, clean design with a light, earthy palette and natural materials that include bamboo, stone, textured plaster, and rattan.
