Welcome to the Vegas Chamber! 2021 - here we come. While we still face very challenging times, there is plenty of optimism in the air and exciting things ahead in the future: the opening of a new resort and expanded Las Vegas Convention Center; new sporting events coming to our city; and new businesses opening and growing in Southern Nevada. There is no other place in the world like Las Vegas, and the Vegas Chamber is doubling down on the prospects for our great city. This year the Vegas Chamber celebrates 110 years in business. It was founded in 1911 by small business people, who joined together to build this community and shape it into the world-class city we enjoy today. Cultivating growth and prosperity is still our purpose, and in 2021 you will see the Chamber continue to champion this community and stand up for employers and employees, especially during the upcoming legislative session. This year, under the leadership of our 2021 Chairwoman, Gina Bongiovi, the Vegas Chamber will continue to be your partner in giving you a competitive edge. We will roll out new ways for you to connect and build relationships, access talented employees, and work together to amplify the voice of business at all levels of government. As the year comes to a close, I want to thank 2020 Chairman Tom Burns for his inspirational leadership. Tom was steadfast in his support of our members, making sure the Vegas Chamber was doing all it could to support small businesses in our community. And he was instrumental in convening industry leaders across Nevada so we could maximize resources and stand together as one united business community. Thank you for your membership and trust in the Vegas Chamber. We look forward to serving you in 2021 and doubling down on Vegas as we rebuild our economy and stand up for our business community.

MESSAGE FROM MARY BETH SEWALD VEGAS CHAMBER
3
Greetings, Fellow Vegas Chamber Members: I begin my term as chair of the Vegas Chamber Board of Trustees with deep gratitude, mild disbelief that I am entering this role, and profound optimism for the year to come. I used to joke that I’d served on every single volunteer committee the Chamber had to offer except the Board of Trustees, yet here I am! I was a Prospector, chaired Vegas Young Professionals and Business Council, I’m a proud Leadership Las Vegas graduate (Best You’ve Seen 2014!), and I have no plans of riding off into the sunset once my term is over. We’re just getting started. The Vegas Chamber has impacted my life in so many ways. I’ve built my business with the help of the Chamber and, more importantly, I’ve met lifelong friends, many of whom I consider my family. Having been “just” a chamber member, as well as serving “on the inside” as a volunteer, I have seen up close not only the value of Chamber membership, but the all-star team the Chamber deploys to amplify our voices within the community. 2020 has been quite a year for every single one of us. Every. Single. One of us. You are all keenly aware of its negative impact, but I’ve seen quite a bit of positivity – people and communities coming together in support of one another. We planted gardens, baked bread, and scheduled countless Zoom happy hours to stay connected and make sure our friends and family were okay. I was naïve to think that collaborative spirit would persist throughout the lockdown, the phases of reopening, and the Presidential election, which revealed we are more divided than ever. Locally, as a business community, we face down a legislative session that threatens to make it even more difficult to survive, much less thrive here in Nevada. We need your help, your attention, and your participation in the legislative process. Sound daunting? Not to worry. The Vegas Chamber’s Government Affairs Team is unrivaled and comes with your membership! The adage that a chamber membership is like a gym membership holds true here – you only see results if you show up. The GA team needs our support so that they can continue to watch our backs throughout this upcoming year and beyond. I’m sending out the call to stay informed, get involved, and BE HEARD. Thank you for believing in me, in the Vegas Chamber, and in the Nevada business community. Let’s do this.

Its attorneys pair business education with real-world experience to provide clients with business-minded legal advice that addresses all facets of business ownership. Much like Robert Duvall's character in the Godfather, think of Bongiovi Law Firm as a business consigliere, except with considerably less violence. Gina has helped found several nonprofits – Dress for Success Southern Nevada, Vegas Shepherd Rescue, Working K9 Rescue – and is working on others. She also served on the UNLV Alumni Association Board, is former chair of Vegas Young Professionals Advisory Council, and currently serves on the Dean's Advisory Boards for the Lee Business School and UNLV Honors College.
