MARCH 2018

We are wonderfully busy this March at Cape Charles Christian School. Representatives from the Virginia Association of Independent Schools (VAIS) will visit with staff and students about our accreditation March 18-20 to be followed up on the 21st by our annual Open House for prospective students. If you know of any students and or families that might be interested in our school please share our Open House information with them. Postcards are available at the front desk, and you may also share our Facebook Event Invitation found here. Please read on to learn about other upcoming important upcoming activities. I'd also like to offer my appreciation to all the our teachers, parents and students for participating in February's PTO Trivia Night, for contributing Box Tops and canned goods

and to all who enthusiastically participated in Dr. Seuss Week. It was wonderful to see so many reading volunteers. Who doesn't love Dr. Seuss and his rhyming whimsy children's books? The faculty and I are full of CCCS spirit as we get geared up for the VAIS visitors in March. ~ Holly Hubbard - Head of School

CURRICULUM SPOTLIGHT Middle School Math

At Cape Charles Christian School, our middle school Math curriculum is driven by the desire to develop a strong foundation for our students and to infuse joy into learning through the process. Lead by our highly experienced teacher, Mrs. Christine Tankard, our students graduate from middle school math with an excellent foundation, with a love for math and with the confidence to tackle a high school curriculum. To learn more about our program, please read the latest blog on our website.

STUDENT SPOTLIGHT Josephine Kohler, Math Student Ex traordinaire

What do you like best about CCCS? The small classes. What is your favorite subject in school? Science. Do you find math to be a challenge or does it come easily?

Math comes easily to me. How have you found math to be useful outside of school? I have found math useful when baking. What would you tell a classmate when they say, "Math is so hard"? When a classmate says, "Math is so hard," I'll ask what they think is hard. When you graduate what do you want to do with your advanced math skills? I am unsure of what I would like to do after I graduate. What question would you have asked in this interview? What is your favorite part about math? My favorite part of math is that it's kind of like a fun puzzle.

MARCH MISSION Project Night Night

This month we are thrilled to support Project Night Night. Students are collecting new blankets, books, and stuffed animals that will then be put into tote bags for children coming into homeless shelters. Project Night Night's mission is to provide free Night Night Packages to homeless children from birth to pre-teen who need childhood essentials to have a concrete and predictable source of security and increased exposure to high-quality literacy materials during this time of upheaval. Each Night Night Package contains a new security blanket, an age-appropriate children's book, and a stuffed animal - all nestled inside of a new canvas tote bag." This mission is already resonating with our students who are enthusiastic to provide some comfort for homeless children. To learn more about what donations can be accepted, please visit our website (link here). For more information about Project Night Night, please visit: their website here.
