MISSION STATEMENT

At the heart of Roman is the desire to be the best. It is Roman’s vision to lead and innovate in the Showering industry.

To design and manufacture top quality inspirational showering solutions, which offers choice for all markets.

To expertly manufacture our products in Britain, so they are designed and built to last and offer a lifetime of effortless showering for all. It is our aim to give all our customers exceptional value and service; this ethos runs throughout the culture of the business and cannot be imitated.

INTRODUCTION

Roman has been designing and manufacturing beautiful showering environments for over 36 years and all products are proudly made in Britain. Roman’s core values are excellence in product quality, unrivalled customer service and a meaningful lifetime guarantee.

Roman is active in over 60 markets worldwide and the international activity is firmly focused on international hotel design. The Roman design team is constantly pushing the boundaries of our design and manufacturing capability. The Roman Colours range showcases Roman’s design and manufacturing capability in a way that no range has before. Design in the hotel sector has demanded new finishes and metal colour options to be developed and the Colours range brings this development and expertise into the retail market for the first time. The mechanisms within Colours elevate showering to a new level and achieve the genuine soft close experience for the very first time, leading the way in superior bathroom design.

Whilst the obvious attraction of the Colours range is the ability to match and suite the key 11 colours currently active within International

bathroom design, the technical developments of the hinges and the sliding system are ground breaking. The hinged door options feature

beautifully styled hinges but inside is the key. The hinges have a hydraulic system operating which closes the door at speed but then the final closing is slow and soft as the 10mm glass kisses the colourless seals. The sliding door glides smoothly but as the door enters the final closing, or opening, the wheels engage a concealed soft close spring system which slows the door and elegantly glides it through the final section of its journey. In addition, the sliding door top rail is shrouded by a rolled stainless-steel section which is an exact colour match for all of the brass elements in the product. The aluminium wall profiles on all products feature Roman’s hydro-active tape system which completely eliminates any requirement for any vertical silicone sealing.

FINISHING TOUCHES

Colours have become increasingly important in high end bathroom design over recent years. The Roman Colours range is a major breakthrough for shower enclosure design and offers co-ordination to 11 of the most popular options at the high end of the bathroom market. Our specialist processes within the chrome plating production flow allows Roman to precisely co-ordinate all of the brass parts in the Colours range to accurately match metals across the bathroom.

The Colours sliding door system offers a genuine soft close system for the first time in shower enclosures. The secret lies hidden behind a plate inside the top rail.

A heavy gauge spring system is activated when the 10mm thick door is moving and the last 50mm of door movement, opening or closing, is taken over by the soft close system and it slowly, quietly and elegantly takes the door to its destination. The system itself is tested over 20,000 cycles and will control the door regardless of the speed you open or close it at.

Another design breakthrough offered by the sliding door in the Colours range is the finish of the top rail. Our aluminium extrusions are precisely designed and manufactured to create wall fixing systems and sliding rails. Whilst Roman can colour match these extrusions to co-ordinate with the brass parts, the grain of aluminium will always give it a visual difference to a chrome plated finish. The Colours top rail is covered by a stainless-steel shroud and due to the nature of stainless steel, it can be precisely co-ordinated to match the chromed brass finishes so the eyeline picks up co-ordinated finishes across all key parts on these meticulously designed enclosures.

The Colours sliding door is available in all key sizes – and has a straightforward bespoke service available for non-standard sizes. Side panels are available in all key sizes and via the bespoke service.

The aluminium wall profiles within the Colours range feature Roman’s unique silicone free wall fixing system – which utilises hydro active tapes which give a water seal to the products from inside the profile, therefore the products are easy to maintain, but moreover, always maintain the look of the colour finish chosen without it being covered in silicone during installation.

The Colours hinged door options all feature another major technical advance from the Roman design team. From any point of release, the doors will close themselves quickly, until the final closing operation. The elegant hinges hide inside an advanced hydraulic soft close system. At this point the hydraulic hinge takes over and closes the door until the 10mm glass kisses the colourless seals. The hinges are equally effective on any size of door and they are designed for outward opening only.

The hinged doors are available in a choice of 10 metal finishes. The aluminium wall joints also feature the Roman silicone free wall fixing system which eliminates the need for any visual silicone as the products are sealed for water integrity from the inside. Every option comes with the intricate Roman dam system which blends into the wall profile and below the door to ensure complete water integrity for these frameless enclosures.

There are a vast array of design options and configurations within the Colours hinged door range. Whilst alcove options are the most frequently designed, the range also offers huge versatility for in-line and corner option and the design process has eliminated the need for bracing bars in such configurations. The brass corner joints and wall fixing joints are all the product needs for being secured in place for their lifetime.

Some larger design configurations may wish to centralise the door or simply move it away from wall fixing.

The Colours range has integrated such glass to glass fixing options into their range – both for corner and alcove configurations. The Roman dam system adapts to link the wall fixing beneath the glass and door to give

complete water integrity. Glass to glass corner joints once again negate any requirement for silicone sealant as a specialist invisible seal is supplied with the side panel and is activated during installation to create an invisible glass to glass seal.

Matt White is fast becoming one of the most popular high-end bathroom finishes internationally – and is the 11th colour option available for the Colours sliding door and wetroom panel options. The Colours range offers design freedom with a large array of standard sizes and an extremely easy to use bespoke service. The deflector panels operate through 180 degrees and close discreetly inside the enclosure when not in use. However, when in use they significantly restrict water spray during showering and allow the freedom of the wet room look without drenching the bathroom during use.

There are a large number of side panel options to complete the design – with precisely colour matched bracing systems to complete the look and give complete rigidity to the largest of bathroom designs. As with the rest of the Colours range, all of the wall profile systems feature the Roman silicone free fixing system which allows the product to seal from the inside and avoids any silicone denigrating the exterior finish.

THE PROCESS

Extensive development time and great precision has gone in to allow the Colours range to offer 11 colour matched metal finishes. The chrome plating process effectively matches each metal finish via a precise pantone colour reference. Aluminium anodising is a totally different process and after the metal has been extruded and polished, it then goes through a series of large tanks which dye it to the point of colour match under time and chemical control and then seal it to give colour continuity and longevity. The anodising process also protects and toughens the aluminium for its life in the bathroom. Care should still be taken to adhere to cleaning recommendations.

The Colours range is very literally based upon 11 colour finishes. Standard glass, especially at 10mm thickness, has a naturally green tint to it. Roman have used only Low Iron glass for the Colours range so nothing distracts from the colour finished design. Low Iron glass effectively has had the green tint removed and is optically clear – even side on. Likewise, all of the seals used within the Colours range are also optically clear and will remain so during their lifetime if they are regularly cleaned.

GLASS PROTECTION

All Roman’s Enclosures and Bath Screens are pre-coated with Roman Ultra Care, our own unique glass protection system. Pre-coated glass protection systems will always diminish in their effectiveness over time, depending on how often the shower is used and how often it is cleaned. Unlike other systems, Roman Ultra Care in a bottle can be used in tandem with the pre-coat to build up the effectiveness and make it stronger the more you clean. Roman Ultra Care is an award winning bathroom protector and has a 15 year track record for successfully protecting Roman’s extensive product range. When applied to the glass of an Enclosure or Bath Screen it creates a chemical barrier which provides protection against the build-up of grime, limescale and stains. The protective barrier means water glides off the glass with ease. This results in the protected surface remaining easy to clean by simply applying a mild detergent and wiping with a damp cloth or using a Roman Shower Blade. By topping

clean, you can significantly reduce the amount of time required to clean your enclosure and bathroom surfaces. Most importantly, you can considerably prolong the life of your Roman product and at the same time do your bit for the environment by eliminating the use of harsh and damaging cleaning products.
