Made from up to 90% recycled wood, this versatile material is one of the most environmentallyfriendly chipboards ever used in the global kitchen industry, becoming key pillar of the company’s integrated social environmental policy up to 2030. Not only does BioBoard Gen2 reduce the use of virgin wood in the supply chain, but also benefits indoor climates by ensuring the amount of formaldehyde released is half that of new chipboard. In fact, all Rotpunkt products are certified to JIS F**** (F4Star) reaching the lowest level for formaldehyde emissions possible. Head of UK operations at Rotpunkt, Matt Phillips, explains: “As sustainability meets luxury design in the 2022 kitchen, we are proud to lead the way with an ecofriendly alternative that does not compromise on quality or design. All KBB professionals know that ‘change an inside job’ and developing a brand ever-evolving, which why we are excited to report huge retail uptake and market support in our mission to become sustainable in every aspect of our business. “To paraphrase Henry Ford, ‘Any customer can have any kitchen in any colour, as long as it’s green!’ “As a German manufacturer, we have long been aware of the importance of recycling and protecting the environment and in 2017 our founders decided to take action in line with the UN’s 17 Sustainable Development Goals — known as the Agenda 2030 — and so this has always been fundamental part of our corporate responsibility.” Rotpunkt laser-focussed on seeing green solutions throughout its supply chain from the factory floor to the end users’ experience in the showroom. The company’s senior management team is continuously working on rethinking processes and questioning consumer habits — to pursue its zero carbon target by using an “avoid reduce compensate” approach. Emissions that cannot be avoided or reduced have been off set through sustainability projects since 2019 in partnership with myclimate. For example, through joint carbon offset project, myclimate and Rotpunkt are supporting hundreds of families in Kenya with efficient cookers. Currently, 849 Kenyans are already benefiting from better indoor air climate and more leisure time thanks to less time spent collecting firewood. In addition, the activities have preserved forest area of 5.25 ha (equivalent to the size of seven football fields) as natural CO reservoir. “It credit to the imagination and commitment of our global Rotpunkt family that our vision is on track despite challenges in the wake of the pandemic. In 2020, we ensured that all our materials for kitchen production were fully FSCcertified and this year we converted our heating system so that uses wood waste, having made complete switch to green energy to promote climate-friendly production across our Bünde and Getmold sites. Our next goals are to ensure that not only are our kitchens manufactured in carbon-neutral way, but that all our raw materials are zero carbon too. We are investing in our production facility at our Bünde site with state-of-the-art robotics and a photovoltaic system to harness solar power as well as installing charging stations for electric vehicles,” says Matt. As the journey to zero carbon emissions gathers pace, so do technical innovations at Rotpunkt. For instance, new batch production process size at the Getmold site is significantly reducing wastage and the order-shipping team now have the option of using passive robotic exoskeleton that reduces the physical strain of performing heavy repetitive or overhead tasks. All staff can explore extensive wellness options as part of the company’s employee benefits package — proof that sustainability starts from within. Matt Phillips, head of UK operations at Rotpunkt, says, “As the global pandemic recedes, we are planning the next stage of our brand evolution with Together to Zero. In line with increasing demand, an investment of double-digit million euros planned to expand our headquarters in Bunde, in recognition of Rotpunkt’s stability in the kitchen industry and its home location in North-Rhine Westphalia. “The pandemic boosted our financial performance as consumers invested heavily in home improvements. In fact, we reported the best year to date, despite new challenges arising from disruptions in the supply chain. We are now inviting our dealer network and consumers to join us in reducing carbon emissions and making the world a better place on Rotpunkt kitchen at a time.” The key components of the new Together to Zero climate strategy comprise: Greenline BioBoard Gen2: A sustainable and environmentally friendly alternative to traditional chipboards. Fulfilling the world’s highest requirements for formaldehyde emissions, BioBoard Gen2 certified F4 star standard = 50% less emissions when compared to conventional chipboard to ensure a healthier living environment in the domestic home: 80% of Rotpunkt products are made of Greenline BioBoard Gen2. Rotpunkt production has been one hundred per cent climate-friendly since 2020 thanks to the use of green electricity and investments in sustainability projects. The Forest Stewardship Council is well-respected international organisation that promotes the conservation and responsible management of forests worldwide. Growing Together: For the past five years, Rotpunkt has been appraising its systems and practices with one overarching aim — to make the business and its products more sustainable and climate-friendly. A carbon balance sheet dictates the future of the business so that economic, environmental and social costs and benefits are given equal consideration. Rotpunkt reviews its CO emissions each year and takes measures to continuously reduce its carbon footprint. Bringing innovation and ease to the contemporary, feel-good kitchen key for Rotpunkt as the wellness living trend evolves and consumers seek substance and evidence for eco-friendly claims. Corporate growth is projected to continue in the future at Rotpunkt with a renewed focus on the end user, to better understand their needs and reflect them in the products offered with an emphasis on affordable luxury. We pride ourselves on having an open and transparent culture and believe that having both climate-friendly products and processes is key USP as consumers will want more accountability and responsibility from manufacturers before investing in big ticket purchases in the future. The company’s annual turnover increased by circa 19% to deliver a health business income of €87 million. During this time, the core markets identified by Rotpunkt, reveal Great Britain, the Nordic countries of Scandinavia and France, are now rivalling the traditionally strong Germany and Benelux countries of Belgium and the Netherlands. New sales territories also emerged last year, with Austria and South Tyrol becoming the latest territories to join the company’s growing global supply chain. Dietmar Walter, trading agency specialist, helped facilitate this developing market and Sven Herden, managing director of sales & marketing at Rotpunkt, says: “Quality sustainable contracts were forged at the Küchenwohntrends trade fair in Salzburg last October, where our team formed new relationships with specialist dealers in parts of Austria and Italy. These new connections have since intensified and are now an integral part of our plans to expand and develop in and around these regions.” UK: Rotpunkt has been able to successfully navigate series of market challenges following Brexit and the pandemic, fully compensating for any market fluctuations worldwide to ensure sustained level of growth. Thankfully, signs are now pointing to a full global recovery in 2022, which is why the company exhibited at the KBB show in Birmingham (see separate report), in order to strengthen business ties among new and existing trade partners in the UK. Germany: Conforming steady 80% share in exports, Rotpunkt is pleased to report an even sales growth across all core markets to the brand, with Germany reaching consistent record highs. “In fact, Rotpunkt has significantly increased volume, seeing its German sales division experience double-digit growth rates in the past three years,” explains Sven. 2022: The outlook for Rotpunkt in 2022 beyond, is extremely positive despite being subjected to the ongoing challenges in the KBB industry and daily operational factors, which furniture manufacturers face. Offering some general advice, Matt Philips, head of UK operations at Rotpunkt, continues: “Ergonomics and space-planning is key to enhancing efficiency and we are finding that extra-tall units are proving a popular way of optimising floor-toceiling storage, alongside the use of glass-fronted vitrines which offer an element of display storage while keeping crockery and glassware close to hand.”

Remember that extra- tall units can be excellent space savers but only if they are accessible, even if they are only to be accessed very occasionally.

Philips adds: “Calm industrial kitchen schemes will also be space sensitive, providing a wealth of open and closed furniture solutions in 2022 with canopystyle storage and wall panelling systems creating lifestyle-friendly kitchen spaces that support individual needs and living habits.”

For example, batch production at its Getmold plant has significantly reduced the amount of waste materials and Rotpunkt has also switched to green energy from approved suppliers. Staff also have the option of using mechanical exoskeletons to reduce the physical strain of performing heavy repetitive or overhead tasks. Rotpunkt production has been one hundred per cent climate-friendly since 2020 thanks to the use of green electricity and investments in sustainability projects. Acting Responsibly: 95% of Rotpunkt kitchen furniture is Forest Stewardship Council-certified and the company only uses wood from sustainable forests in Germany, Austria and France where working conditions are fair and human rights are respected. This ensures that Rotpunkt is being socially and environmentally responsible, helping to protect people and trees. Matt continues, “We believe in controlled steady and sustainable growth as the way forward. Design, function and quality are integral to our latest Together to Zero climate strategy, and so is our partnership and collaboration with our outstanding kitchen dealers — the lifeblood of our Rotpunkt family. Every day Rotpunkt moves little closer towards climate neutrality and we invite everyone in the industry to join us on this planet-changing journey — one mission to zero emission.” Rotpunkt UK ● matt.phillips@rotpunktuk.com www.rotpunktkuechen.de/en/

Head of UK operations at Rotpunkt, Matt Phillips, says: “We had very positive experience at the show after two years dominated by market volatility in the wake of Brexit and the pandemic. Now the situation has complete changed course and we have full confidence that UK consumers are keen to invest in their homes once more. This is definitely evident as the company enjoys its highest average value transactions in the UK, with many consumers appreciating our strategic positioning for growing upper mid-level kitchen design in the marketplace.” Following four extremely busy days at KBB Birmingham, the Rotpunkt team had great response to the exciting new launches showcased on its 130 m stand. With four state-of-the-art fully interactive kitchen displays and two laundry storage solutions, KBB professionals could fully explore the iconic ‘power of possibilities’ in eco-luxe furniture by Rotpunkt. Highlights included the UK launch of new Fenix colours, new range of Memory RI door fronts, the latest contemporary finishes in Dark Grey Steel and Split-Line in split oak and the British debut of Blum’s Revego pocket door system. Interestingly, Rotpunkt was the first manufacturer to show this pocket door mechanism in the UK, integrating the solution with its new Fenix Green Sherwood Flamed wood-effect full height kitchen doors. The one-touch door system for single and double door applications, believed to be unique, is impressive, not least thanks to its fully integrated technology and ease of integration into the kitchen layout or furniture units. The smart fixed-width cabinet solution can also be easily incorporated into plans featuring standard cabinets and is available pre-assembled. The Fenix Green super matt finish in combination with Sherwood Flamed, was shown on the popular Zerox furniture and benefits include an easy clean surface that is antibacterial, anti-fingerprint, high chemical resistance, high UV resistance with a premium super matt finish. Carcass available in 78 cm and extra-tall 91 cm heights, with kitchen doors in standard and extratall 2.4 m heights featuring luxury interior shelves with metal edging for refined industrial style. “We are back and ready to take sustainable kitchen living to the next level. has been fantastic to see so many customers in person and welcome new dealers to the fold. We have already sent out full, comprehensive details of our new product offerings for 2022-3 and have advised countless retailers about what will be the best fit with their customer base and projected growth plans. Our new brochures include exclusive downloadable content so our UK specialists can use them across devices and locations for ultimate convenience.” Managing director sales and marketing at Rotpunkt, Sven Herden, says “We have flexibly adapted to changing circumstances, including the new trading landscape after Brexit and fine-tuning our operations to ensure fully cohesive supply chain and supportive dealer network throughout the pandemic. In addition, the field sales team in the UK has continued to grow so that we are actively expanding brand awareness and outlining our point of difference — sustainability, transparency and contemporary ergonomic design for better future.” Market confidence is in resurgence as the property season begins and Covid restrictions are all but over. Around 90% of UK retailers have not been able to meet their customers in person over the past two years as the Government focused on protecting public health with combination of strict lockdowns, including travel restrictions. Naturally, this impacted sales as not everything can be discussed via online channels alone and in response, the company has invested great deal of time and substantial revenue on additional costs like administration and logistics. This manifested due to Britain’s decision to leave the EU and now, the team benefits from new systems that directly support retailers and end-users, helping them to navigate through unprecedented times. “With an ever-growing network, we are keen to upskill our UK brand partners, especially as we have significantly grown our presence in this territory despite the pandemic. Our UK leadership team stands ready to provide even more dedicated business support as demand for sustainable, modular furniture solutions continues to rise,” adds Sven. XTend dimensions: Customers can broaden their horizons with the new 2,340 mm height doors, which are part of the XTend range by Rotpunkt that offers series of standard and extra-tall furniture solutions. Now customers can maximise storage by enabling an extra run of top units above extra tall cabinets to make the best use of available space for a custom fit. The Sherwood Black full height doors mimic the look and feel of real wood, without the weight or porous qualities of timber to provide an ideal solution for a multiuse living space. This faux wood décor features a colour-matched 1.3 mm circumferential, jointless edge, which means when placed side by side, a series of tall units will look like one complete run of cabinetry. Matt adds, “Combining high-fashion green, which both Houzz.com and House Beautiful champion as the colour of choice in 2022, alongside realistic faux finishes and industrial-style accents is great way to satisfy today’s discerning homeowner, who demands the very best in sustainable style.” Rotpunkt UK ● matt.phillips@rotpunktuk.com www.rotpunkt.co.uk ● www.rotpunktkuechen.de/en

Designed with modern cassette front that is rounded on the inside and out, Pavilo is available in all matt lacquer finishes including the new Just Grey colour option and bestselling Black, Carbon, Lava, Umbra and Daylight Grey. Beautiful and practical, this subtle door is designed to not only create a soft and harmonious look, but also reduce the number of surfaces to help minimise the accumulation of unwanted dirt, dust, grease and debris synonymous with kitchen living. Matt Phillips, head of UK operations at Rotpunkt, says: “Shaker-style interiors are ultra-versatile, as they effortlessly ride the line between traditional and contemporary ideas. Designed to evolve the traditional look of timber in frame kitchen and recreate 18th century design elements so they can sit in the modern home, Pavilo gives a new dimension to the constantly evolving industrial-style kitchen, which is in keeping with today’s modern home and lifestyle.” When combined with natural timber elements like the new Memory RI vertical door in New Forest Oak, Pavilo brings fresh new energy to the hybrid kitchen space, which seemingly now is both classic and contemporary. Added to that, “Big ticket items like the kitchen are helping UK homeowners to reduce their environmental impact and live greener lifestyles. Pavilo answers the call for climate-friendly kitchen design, constructed from our Greenline BioBoard Gen2, which is sustainable chipboard that consists of up to 90% recycled wood,” adds Matt. The Pavilo kitchen concept features the following new innovations: Pavilo: Blending classic style with contemporary comfort, this new Shaker-style door is designed with modern cassette front with rounded edges inside and out. Available in all 52 matt lacquer colours, Pavilo is a perfect foundation to get creative with the hardware too, just like the new 499 Black T-bar style knob handle shown. Just Grey: This new colour one of 14 shades of grey by Rotpunkt, and works harmoniously with timber finishes like the pictured wood panelling, which set within the island unit. Behind, the wet area is framed by two designed-in tall units with a mix of open and closed storage and built-in appliances to create the ultimate compact cook zone. Memory RI: Bringing the tactile warmth of timber into the kitchen, this new door is designed with contemporary reeded structure with high-definition vertical grooves. Available in three oak finishes, matt black and a ready to paint option, the textured effect of Memory helps emphasise the generous overhead wall units to make the back wall feel spacious, despite its small footprint. Smart-ready LED lighting: A modern and minimalist pendant light over the island brings illumination to this calming working space as can be hung up to 1,450 mm from the ceiling. Available in 1,200 mm and 1,500 mm lengths to suit customer’s style, now home chefs can enjoy the latest in smart enabled kitchen lighting and control it using a digital assistant on tablet or smartphone for the ultimate in hands-free living. Climate friendly: All Rotpunkt furniture designed and created using the company’s new ‘Together to zero’ climate strategy to reduce carbon emissions at every stage of manufacture.
