Hi guys, welcome to Vents! How have you been? We are excellent. Thanks for asking. Can you tell us more about the story behind your latest track Human Paradigm? The song, Human Paradigm contemplates the idea that we are all just irrelevant blips in the universe. We all strive to be something more, and yet most of us will fade into oblivion. Are we cut from the same program or can we change our fate and in effect change the path of our human kind, human evolution? What inspired you to write this song? I was in a parking lot in Ocean Beach. I was taking a moment from the day’s activities. The beach was busy and active with people. It seemed as though everyone was following identifiable patterns and expectations. Why did you name the album after this song in particular? The song and its title are a perfect symbol of the album in both its creation and its philosophy. Why instead of making a full-length album as a whole did you decide to split it into two EPs? Because we can. That statement was not meant with “bad” attitude but we don’t work under the constraints of the machine. We are truly independent. We like the process of an EP. It af fords a certain focus to songs and their full completion as a

work. I would much rather put our three to five great songs as opposed to releasing eleven filler songs and one great one. The physical release packaging contains two discs and their corresponding art. For those that like the physical product this is really cool. We buy physical music pieces for the art and the presentation. Will they be standalone records or will they have their own individual theme? They are two separate discs that are a part of one work. The two EP’s just happened to tell a great story when combined, particularly when played in the album order starting with the most current Human Paradigm songs through the WATGBA album. They are the representation of the bands history so far and these two works just called out to be joined in some way while respecting the individual pieces. Were there any challenges? I understand you recorded the album in one weekend? We actually recorded the title track Human Paradigm in one weekend. In the spirit of this song’s message we set out to re cord it with conviction. We recorded it out of town at Swagger Studios in Glendale, CA. We challenged ourselves to produce a song in one weekend from start to finish and Human Paradigm was the result. Our engineer Dan Whittemore invited us to ‘camp out’ in the studio during the recording and we took it literally. I woke up

Saturday morning with a slight disorientation from the night before and looked out of my tent to see four other tents inside a studio rehearsal room. There were lanterns, ice chests, and the remnants of bottles and paper plates upon a picnic bench. The whole studio was filled with the sounds of the drum and guitar tracks we had recorded the day before. It was am and it was loud and fucking beautiful How was the recording and writing process? The remaining Human Paradigm tracks where recorded at the famed Signature Sound Studios in San Diego, CA with engineer Christian Cummings. The tracks are the most developed and personal pieces completed by the band. They summari e a history and dedication to the craft no matter what the universe sends its way. What was it like to work with Dan Whittemore and how did that relationship develop? ‘Camp eader Dan’ is a very talented engineer and producer, and, is a pretty ama ing musician. We we’re actually given the studio time from a winner of a raf e for a benefit to help the family of Chi Cheng of the Deftones. The studio time was a product of awesome people being kind to each other. Dan is in a great band called the Battle Royale and a couple of the guys who put on the benefit show are in another great band called Big Goat, well deserving plugs. How much would you say he influenced the material?

Dan played a role in production particularly in the breakdown of the song. That section was only conceptually developed when we went into the studio. Inherently a good engineer has a lot of in uence particularly with the delivery and performance of the material. I believe that an extra set of ears is critical because we get t inside of the material and sometimes another set of ears and opinion can knock down barriers to making a good song great. Where did you find the inspiration for the songs and lyrics on the album? The best creativity is made with a healthy, and sometimes unhealthy, dose of life. This record has been a serious contemplation of experiences over the last couple years. It is an expression of good times, worldly frustrations, and near death experiences. Do you have any plans to hit the road? es. Before the year is out, we’ll be through all the South Western states. ext year, we’ll cover the States and step through Canada and Europe. What else is happening next in Quor´s world? We have already begun the process of a new record or records for next year and we are itching to try our hand at another music video short film. We appreciate you taking the time for this interview. See you on the road
