Lewis Fieldhouse Hi Lewis, welcome to Vents! How have you been? I’m good thanks! Hope you’re all doing well! Can you tell us more about the story behind your track Goodbye? Sure. Before I wrote Goodbye I’d been writing these serious songs about god and war and things like that, heavy subjects and in the context of an indie band. I got fatigue from all the heaviness of those subjects so I wanted something to lighten the mood. So I sat down to write something and I had this image of someone holding an umbrella upside down, dancing around, trying to catch the rain in it. It was a nice thought, fun and innocent so I ran with it. I got some chords together and a hook and then the rest just fell out. How was the film experience? It was so nice! Our director, James Byrne is very talented and the girls were fantastic to work with. We had a lot of fun and were just being silly. Charlotte stole all my Doritos and dip in our video date but she actually spilled the dip all over her hair! How was the recording and writing process? It was really great recording this song. I’m working with two fellows, Oliver Price and Ben Ferrari out of East London and we tried to bring that element of innocence into the record. There’s also haziness about the guitar parts that I really love. We also got Paul Stuart on a drum that’s the drummer of The Feeling. He’s got great feel. Where did you find the inspiration for the songs and lyrics?

With the lyrics I wanted to bring a sense of hot summers and youth to the song. I didn’t want it to be so serious remember, so i decided a nice hook might be ‘chase the blues away’ It can be that easy sometimes just to decide to be in a good mood. The single comes off your debut album – how´s that coming along? Early doors right now! Ask me in 4 months! Do you have any tentative release date or title in mind? Did you know that JRR Tolkien recovered from his WW1 injuries in my hometown of Harrogate? (I’m trying to change the subject!) Will you play with different styles throughout the album or does Goodbye set the tone of the whole album? The record could be very varied and whilst I don’t think that’s a bad thing, I want to reign in some of my more extravagant tendencies. I think the songs deserve a focused sound with an emphasis on the lyrics and mood. I think we’ll be less poppy than Goodbye but still with some interesting production. Do you have any plans to hit the road? Nope – It’s all about the record right now. What else is happening next in Lewis Fieldhouse´s world? I’m making a record with The Old Silent I play bass in that band, I’m writing a novel and I’m trying to get back into my meditation practice. I’m also moving to a house in London. Wish me luck!
