Some activities still happening, with changes LYNDEN    Lynden’s Northwest Lighted Christmas Parade is a little different from normal in that the brightly decorated entries will be stationary along Front Street, and people can drive-by or walkby to see them.    The hours are 5 and 8 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 5, along Front Street from 17th to Third. While a lot of holiday gaity has been grinched by the coronavirus bug in 2020, there are still some fun things happening in our local communities!

FERNDALE    In place of the usual OldeFashioned Christmas in Pioneer Park, the Ferndale Heritage Society is putting on a Lighted Christmas Stroll Through Pioneer Village instead.    This happens from 5 to 8

p.m. each evening the weekends of Dec. 4-5, 11-12 and 18-19. It is free, but please wear masks and do social distancing, say the sponsors.    There will be no access into buildings, except possibly the door of the church will be open with its metal grate in place. The outside of Pioneer Park’s log cabins will be decorated.    Also, the Heritage Society is taking children’s letters to Santa. Deposit in the mailbox in front of the old post office. Be sure to make your address legible. Form available on page 13. BELLINGHAM    The usual Holiday Port Festival, especially known for its amazing gingerbread creations on display, will not happen this year due to the COVID pandemic.    However, the Bellingham Cruise Terminal is offering an outdoor viewing experience of lights, decorations and a “snow

globe” holiday scene as seen through the windows of the terminal’s dome room, all available Dec. 3-25.    The terminal is on the south side of Bellingham in the Fairhaven district at 355 Harris Ave.    Also, the Bellingham Yacht Club will have its traditional Lighted Boat Parade on Saturday, Dec. 5. Decorated boats will leave Squalicum Harbor at 6 p.m. and float by the Bellingham Cruise Terminal around 6:15. BLAINE    The Holiday Market by the Sea continues on Saturdays (to 2 p.m.) and Sundays (to 4 p.m.) at 645 Peace Portal Dr. downtown.    The Holiday Harbor Lights Community Tree Lighting will be on Saturday, Dec. 5, in the H Street Plaza.
