Welcome Sisters! It is with a joyous heart that I welcome you to the first session of the Sugarplum Renaissance©: The 2014 Transcendent Resurgence! The idea for this project was birthed during lunch with my agent and friend Cynthia Walton. It began as a workshop, but quickly grew into a series of powerful sessions with one goal: to assist women to determine the direction for their lives and create intentional goals reflective of that vision. The word “sugarplum” dates back to the 1600’s denoting a process of candy-making called panning that was so labor intensive and time consuming that only the wealthy could afford the treats or “sugarplums”. The word “renaissance” means rebirth or renewal. So the Sugarplum Renaissance is quite literally the Rebirth of You – deliberately, delicately, deliciously, extravagantly - over a period of time. We will begin this process today with the Transcendent Resurgence – embracing the Inspiring Revival of your hopes, dreams, aspirations, and goals. Everything that you put aside due to circumstance – be it lack of motivation, support, finances, time, courage or plain audacity- you will now PLAN to make provisions to remove the circumstances that hindered your progress; BUILD relationships with other women who are on the same mission; and WORK toward making 2014 the best year you have ever seen. Just as the process of creating sugarplums used to take days just to make a few treats, so too will the process of creating your new circumstances take months to make new strides. But sisters, I tell you that you are worth it – and it is now YOUR time to get everything you ever wanted in and out of life. And the wonderful women who are joining me here today – Rev. Dr. Chestina M. Archibald, LaTay Mays, Mona Shah-Joshi, Tonica “Nikki” Stephenson, and Cynthia Walton – are here to help you do so. Let us begin the Sugarplum Renaissance©! www.LynitaMitchellBlackwell.com
