Copyright Lynn Thomas 2020 All Rights Reserved This is an eclectic collection of still life images, for the adult colorist. Coloring in grayscale is quite easy, once you get the hang of it. I’ve been drawing and painting since I was a child, and usually start a painting with a grayscale sketch. That’s what I like to think of grayscale coloring - the beginning of a work of art, starting with the sketch that is already provided for you, in the form of the grayscale image. .
There are many videos on youtube to help you get the hang of grayscale coloring. What is suggested is that you look at the image, and imagine what colors you would like to use. Then use three shades of that color, the brightest for the lightest part-where the light hits, the medium shade for the next grade of color, and the dark shade for the darkest part that could be in shadow, of that flower or whatever it is you’re coloring. If you’re stuck on what colors to use, you can use a color wheel. Here are instructions I found that have been very helpful to me on how to use a color wheel, and chose the colors you’d like to use. https://www.artistsnetwork.com/art-techniques/color- mixing/ choose-color-schemes/ If you’re an experienced colorist, have fun! And if you’re not experienced, join some coloring groups, ask questions and share your work. You’ll be surprised how quickly you pick it up, and how beautiful your finished work turns out to be, along the way on your journey! This is a relaxing hobby, that puts you in touch with your creative side! So many people have taken up coloring since the Corona Virus and the lockdowns. You can join my Facebook Group called “Creative Studio Designs.” https://www.facebook.com/groups/384294649651299 We’re a group of colorists of every level, so please don’t feel intimidated. It’s a place for sharing our colored images, and we build relationships along the way. It’s a place for positive attitudes and helping each other. Questions are always welcome.
