A new generation of DSP Lynx Pro Audio releases software and hardware enhancements to all of its self-powered systems Lynx Pro Audio is now manufacturing all of its self-powered systems with the new generation of DSPB-FL software and hardware, which includes improvements in signal processing capabilities and user communications.
Externally, the screen has changed in both size and quality. The old screen was an alphanumeric LCD with 16 characters on 2 lines, while the new screen is a full colour 320 x 240 mm IPS, which offers a very complete and user-friendly navigable menu, being comfortable to handle and easy to use and read.
This new development was first incorporated in the CLS coaxial line array cabinets, one of the flagship ranges, and later this technology was included in all of the brand’s self-powered systems and also on the new XT series of amplifiers. The new generation of DSP offers a greater processing power, up to 8 times more than the previous version and provides greater advantages in communication with the user, increasing the operating use of the system. In addition, new direct control capabilities and custom memories are integrated.
How are the new DSPs different from previous models? The differences between the two generations are remarkable. The change in technology of both the DSP and the microprocessors has increased the computing power considerably, with a processing power up to 8 times greater in the new DSPs, working at 96KHz without any loss of performance compared to the previous generation (48 KHz). It can process at 96KHz with double precision and has FIR filters of up to 2000 Taps per output. Also, depending on the cabinet model, AES3 and Ethernet are optional or standard. The features have also increased: with the new generation of DSP the user can modify the gain, the delay and can create up to 5 custom memories and load them from the cabinet itself. In addition, presets can be made from the computer with access to gain, delay and 10 parametric filters. 9
Technology 100% developed by Lynx Pro Audio The development of the new generation of software and hardware has been carried out entirely at Lynx Pro Audio with our own R&D laboratory. It is a milestone of great importance led by our team of engineers and developed in our facilities in Valencia. For Carlos Matalí, director of R&D at Lynx Pro Audio, the fact of having developed it internally has been advantageous: “In this way, we master the technology and do not depend on external companies, we have the ability to add or improve the features according to the needs. We can turn customer feedback into product features very quickly and even add solutions to problems that may arise in installations and that we had not considered before.”
Learn how to configure the new generation of DSP On the back pannel of the cabinet you will find the digital control area. From the compact joystick located below the screen you are able to configure the basic adjustment functions of the internal DSP.
If changes are not made the display will automatically dim to avoid unnecessary light in situations where light is not wanted. To re-activate the light simply press the joystick.
Just move the joystick to select the icons on the left of the screen. You can enter into the following functions: Home, settings, folder, configuration and information. Please note that you must apply the desired configuration in each one cabinet and requires electrical power to work.
The following screens are an example and may vary slightly for each cabinet.
SETTINGS This panel allows you to change the gain, polarity, mute and the delay for the inputs. You also have the possibility of putting a high pass, changing the type of filter, frequency and order.
CONFIGURATION This screen is to configurate Ethernet. You can choose automatic or manual. You can also configure the screen saver. And here you have the input selection. You can choose between analog or AES3 for channel 1 or channel 2.
INFORMATION FOLDER The folder screen shows you the name of the preset and its description. Using the joystick you can change the preset.
10
The last screen shows you some general information regarding the cabinet’s components. Here you can see the cabinet model, its serial number, DSP firmware and hardware versions, amp module model with hardware version, as well as the accelerometer status.

XT series is a new generation of amplifiers that offer a high voltage output, with a powerful 96 KHz and double-precision 64 bits DSP. These amplifiers are ideal for touring and install applications. Based on a switching mode power supply with an innovative Class H 3 steps topology, these amplifiers work with high voltages and offer superb dynamics. They also include a completely new PMS™ system, with protection both on the power supply and the audio modules, working in real time to make sure all the variables are secure. All these features make these amplifiers ideal for working with asymmetric loads and provide maximum power for each audio system. XT amplifiers are suitable for the most demanding applications offering the best reliability. The XT amplifiers have a user interface with an extra-large 4.3” IPS touch panel, making it easier and faster to use. From this panel you can control and manage each parameter of the amplifier and choose among the system presets, users, EQ and created snapshots.
