CASA VEGANO

SPRING 2018

STUDIO 5 RESTAURANT & BAR

M

INDIVIDUAL PROJECT PROGRAMS USED: REVIT & PHOTOSHOP

M CONCEPT:

The restaurant's name “ Casa Vegano”, meaning “Vegan House” in English, communicates the restaurant’s overall concept of community. In the Italian culture, having a place of gathering for family and friends is important in their daily life. The menu of the restaurant consists of plant based dishes, which cater not only towards the growing popularity in the young Italian culture but also worldwide. Spatially, the design consists of the dining area as a central focal point with the other elements surrounding the central axis. The mezzanine is designed to be a casual place of gathering where locals and tourists are welcomed at anytime of the day to grab an espresso or traditional Italian pastries. Seating arrangements are designed with flexibility with custom banquettes and screens. The design will also feature traditional Italian materials, as well as sustainable and environmentally friendly materials which supports the vegan lifestyle.

GEORGIAN BAY

WINTER 2018

STUDIO 4 COTTAGE HOME INDIVIDUAL PROJECT

M

PROGRAMS USED: AUTOCAD & HAND DRAFTING

M CONCEPT:

My approach to designing the cottage for my clients is to draw inspiration from trees. The clients enjoy nature and want to emphasize nature's presence throughout the interior. Trees have unique organic forms and each tree contains its own history and/or story. In addition, through the use of organic forms and materials used throughout the design, a sense of unity with the exterior landscape will be present. The main idea will be to bring elements of nature into the interior. Moreover, through an open concept plan, the cottage will have multiple sight lines to the surrounding views, creating a visual connection to nature. The design will also include multiple windows and openings to the outdoors, optimizing natural daylight and natural ventilation. Overall, the cottage will become a place for the clients to build new roots, create new stories, and be a welcoming place for the clients to call home.

CANADIAN RED CROSS WORKPLACE

M

SPRING 2017

STUDIO 3 INDIVIDUAL PROJECT PROGRAMS USED: AUTOCAD

M CONCEPT: The Red Cross foundation has built a name of integrity through their values, goals and overall vision to better society and the world (“About Us Canadian Red Cross”). To showcase the foundation’s association across the globe, the conceptual approach of “connectivity” is incorporated into the design. In addition, connectivity through the form of urban design, specifically the design of the Garden City, is incorporated into the design elements. The layout of the Garden City consisted of a central space for the community to connect and independent spaces that branch off from the center. Furthermore, in the context of workspaces, it is essential to take into consideration the employee's wellbeing as they are the root of the company's success. The design displays creative and inspiring areas for collaboration while also providing spaces for retreat. Moreover, connectivity to nature is shown through the designs color palette and material selections.

INDEPENDENT 5 CENTER IDEC COMPETITION

M

SPRING 2018

STUDIO 5 GROUP PROJECT TEAM: ALESSANDRA MASI PROGRAMS USED: REVIT

M CONCEPT:

We experience environments in our daily lives through our five senses, which can can be manipulated to affect our spatial experience. The design of the “Independent 5” center tailors the needs of individuals with ASD. The design will also incorporate strategic design elements that engage the senses for the users of the space. There are two circulation paths, one for employees, and the other for the users. These paths incorporate accessible wayfinding and escape zones throughout. Each individual activity space, utilized by the users, will focus on enhancing one of the senses. The apartment is a central space that engages all of the senses and allows the individual to manage sensory stimuli in the built environment. The overall goal of the “Independent 5” center is to learn how to live self-sufficiently and to train individuals with ASD to live away from their familiar homes. INDEPENDENT
