INTERIOR DESIGN - improving the quality of life
PHILOSOPHY My goal is to create and enhance the function and value of interior spaces for the purpose of improving the quality of life; increasing productivity; and protecting the welfare, health, and safety of the public. A successfully conceived and executed interior should be a reflection of the client’s style and aesthetic. The most important element in designing spaces is the people who use them. I strive to incorporate classic principles of scale, proportion, color, and quality in every design and I always begin with these principles in mind. Interior design is a discipline that demands research, development, analytical skills, a command of technology and a knowledge of codes; it is with these tools I am able shape multi-dimensional spaces.

A tech-savvy couple nestle-down to a golf course in their backyard and acquired a family-friendly floor plan that accommodated both of their personalities.
Overall Goal
A remodel that met the needs of entertaining a large Italian family. The furniture exuded a cultivated vibe, but not at the expense of comfort. Neutral backdrops were cheered up with splashes of warm colors spread throughout the home. They both enjoy traveling and wanted their home to reflect the essence of a luxury hotel, however it still had to have a welcoming and casual ambiance.

RESIDENTIAL DESIGN The DeCrescenzo Residence
Remodel 4,130 sq. ft.
Project Description The scope of this project included the Living Room, Kitchen, Master Suite with Ensuite. The DeCrescenzo’s purchased this home due to its location to family, work and a golf course. However, they were not satisfied with the existing layout of the home. They prefered a traditional floor plan and also wanted the kitchen to be open to the family room. The overall aesthetic is symmetrical balance with a warm color palette and a blend of natural textures, contemporary curves, sophisticated shine and traditional profiles, which reflects theDeCrescenzo’s personalities.
Broomfield, Colorado Inspirational Images The image of polished rocks expresses the concept of polished an casual by shine and how the rocks are scattered. The top left image of a hotel room was an influence in the design of the master suite. The bottom image is Florence, Italy, which was the driving direction for the overall color palette.

Homeowner Profile Guy and Juliana DeCrescenzo have three children, a boston terrior and a large extended Italian family. Julia and Guy are both in the professional field of technology. Juliana frequently works from home and needed a home that accommodated both she and Guy. Julian is the avid golfer while Guy is the avid chef and musician.

• Provided multiple seating arrangements. • Offered spaces that gave both feelings of private and public ambiances by installing wide thresholds.
Lighting Method The lighting plan was integrated into both of the architecture and the physical spaces. Multiple levels of lighting such as task lighting, downlighting and uplighting were utilized to reinforce the activities in each of the spaces as well as deemphasize areas to be subdued. The two-story windows in the family room supplied the space with ample daylight, thus shading and cooling devises were installed to control comfort.

RETAIL DESIGN The Little Boutique
Existing Construction 1,800 sq. ft.
Project Description Anisah Dosary is the client, a 30 year old fashion stylyist. Anisah wanted her store to portray an image of soft, industrial and rustic sophistication. The store sells oneof-a-kind imported and local handmade women’s clothing and accessories. She wanted her customers to get excited about the clothing and the overall environment of the retail space. She wanted the clothes to be able to sell themselves; the quality and originality of the merchandise should sell itself, thus the clothes must be artfully displayed and have flexibility for display changes.

Design Development The merchandise areas were planned with 50% flexibility for displaying products. Main aisles were kept between 4’-5’ wide. A variety of display shelves, tables and clothing racks were implemented. The cash wrap area was designed to be a two level counter to hide the cash register and an ADA accessible section at 30” height above finished floor. At least three dressing rooms were required: one that was ADA size of 5’x6’ and the other two at 4’x4’. Additionally, efficient lighting and a small seat in each room were also needed.

LIGHTING A MOOD
Utilize gothic art and architecture with vibrant muted color tones; these aesthetics lead the path for the overall concept of the three meal dining experience. The space plan of the three meal dining incorporated three different seating styles: booths, four-tops and two-tops. By giving flexibility in the seating styles and arrangements, the restaurant can easily transition from breakfast, lunch and dinner. A custom buffet table was required in order for the restaurant to serve the breakfast crowds.
Lighting Method Three different ceiling heights were implemented. Used lighting elements at various heights to create mood moments. Rescessed can lighting was also used to control the amount and type of lighting for each meal time. Reflected Ceiling Plan

The program required a fitness area due to the reason that physical functioning often declines with age and can result in deterioration of health and the ability to care for one’ self. Research funded by the National Institute on Aging and was published in the New England Journal of Medicine provided additional evidence that P.T. can reduce and even prevent the functional decline of frail individuals who receive a program designed to improve their balance, strength and movement.

COMMERCIAL DESIGN Spectrum Fitness Club For Women Project Description
Layla Ahmed the client, wanted open a safe, private and luxurious fitness club for women and girls. As a Muslim, she often experienced difficulty attempting to exercise in common fitness facilities such as 24 Hour and Bally’s due to the fact that her faith prohibits her from showing too much skin in the presence of men. Wearing the headscarf/hijab and being almost completely covered is not the most comfortable attire for exercising. She realized the need for a fitness club designed for females that allowed privacy whether it is for religious, cultural or for personal reasons. Spectrum’s company mission statement is: “wellness for women by women.”
Owner Description Spectrum Wellness Center is a family run business. They opened their first fitness center in their home town of Al-Khobar, Saudi Arabia. Layla moved to Colorado two years ago with her husband and their two daughters. She obtained her Master of Science in Clinical Nutrition degree in Chicago, IL.

Concept Statement
A harmonious embrace that brings the sense of unity in both public and private spaces.
Derived from the physical embrace between two people; this act in itself is a small moment of closeness and creates an overlapping circle.

LOBBY AND JUICE BAR Design Intent Rustic, natural elements and sophistication entwine while being nestled into 346 square feet. The space envelopes the user with warm, deep and rich finishes. The space planning of this area was to take advantage of the east-facing windows for the morning light and the users can look outside. Placing the bar in the north-east corner of the space, allows for a better traffic flow as well as additional space for seating whenever a nutritional class is offered. Offer dual functioning control desk. The employee at the control can also act as a cashier for any retail product sales. To provide a safety measure at the control desk, a “pinch-point” was created by narrowing the passage way from the entrance into the corridor leading the facilities ammenities.

GROUP CYCLE STUDIO Design Intent
Custom Partition
Design a 434 square foot space to be vibrant and fun. The ‘S’ inw the floor is for the word spin and reflects the curves of a women’s physique. When standing in the space, the ‘S’ will mimic that of a winding road. A newer trend that we implemented was a projection screen that will show different videos taken from the view of a person pedaling along the mountains in Europe or perhaps the big island of Hawaii. The spin bikes were strategically placed in a fanned out pattern in order for each cyclist to view the screen.
The design was inspired by the wheels and the spokes on a bicycle. The goal was allow light to penetrate into the space but also make the light diffused from the outside. Selecting a frosted glass allows those who pass by the cycle studio to see the class in action.
