Strömstad In-depth Strategy for Sustainable Development
December 2007 Strömstad, Sweden
As much as the profession of an architect is one of practice, it cannot do such without a solid basis of theory. All factors that influence architecture; estheticism, building-physics, planning, … require to some extent both practice and theory. Because of this, I felt it necessary to include a reference to at least one of my theoretical writings in this portfolio. We cannot ‘create’ without a solid foundation of arguments. This research-paper - perhaps being the most pertinent one - deals with traffic streams of “Goods & People” in a small urban setting. The analysis focuses firstly on the impact of transportation planning on society, both emotionally and structurally. Secondly on the technological advances, possibilities and their implications which one will have to keep in mind for the future urban environment.
Strömstad
The paper closes with a theoretical design for the studied city with methods for optimal system use, multi-purposeness and economical rendability.
