LITERACY Another Easy Way to Promote Your Child's Literacy Skills… KEEP FUN TRAVEL JOURNALS FOR ALL OF YOUR FAMILY'S WORLD TRAVELS!!!
As you travel, encourage your child to record all of the highlights of the trip. This recording can be in writing, on an iPod, in photographs, by drawing pictures, collecting and mounting found or bought objects and/or more. This experience will provide your child with a fun and interesting way to keep practicing important literacy skills, while also providing the whole family with a wonderful record of their adventures. Announcements FROM THE MUSIC DEPARTMENT... Dear Parents/Guardians of fourth and fifth graders, Please take the opportunity to enjoy some of the pieces your child has been preparing and performing during music this year at her/his upcoming concert. Three programs will be presented in the CAC theater: •Tuesday, April 7th at 10:00 a.m. for students and teachers. The fourth grade, fifth grade, and the afterschool elementary choir will perform. •Tuesday, April 7th at 7:00 p.m. for friends and family. The elementary choir should report back stage at 6:45. Fourth grade non-choir members go to their assigned theater seats by 6:45. •Wednesday, April 8th at 7:00 p.m. for friends and family. The elementary choir should report back stage at 6:45. Fifth grade non-choir members go to their assigned theater seats by 6:45. Your child will be expected to attend both the morning and the evening concerts due to special instrument/movement assignments. Also, this is when your child’s behavior and participation are evaluated in a concert setting. As this is a very special event, please be sure your child is dressed appropriately for the evening concert; girls can wear dresses or skirts, which are just above knee-length or below, and boys can wear dress slacks, dress shirt and tie, or a shirt with a collar. If possible, please try to avoid blue jeans, T-shirts with pictures/advertising, or tennis shoes. Attire for the morning concert can be more casual as students will have recess and PE during the day. The words and form of each song have been handed out so that your child can review and memorize the pieces. Knowing this material will help alleviate her/his stress during the performances. Another stress reliever will be punctuality. Please ensure that your child is in place before the evening concert.

Many people came to enjoy and embrace our diverse international community. Guests were able to visit 38 countries! The PTO International Festival 2009 committee promised great food, wonderful performances and fun games and that is exactly what students, parents and teachers experienced! A big thank you goes out to all the country representatives who managed to pull together their communities and provide us with an opportunity to get to know them better through their cuisine, colorful entertainment, and interesting games and activities. Thank you for your generosity. Thank you, too, to CAC and its wonderful support staff--a great, accommodating team of hardworking people. On behalf of the Theme Basket Raffle a big, big thank you to all who donated, collected, and wrapped up these beautiful baskets and, of course, to all of you who bought the tickets. Lastly, a thank you to those who attended. You showed that the international spirit is truly alive in our school community!
