KEY OBJECTIVES OF THE POLICY DIALOGUE 1. To engage in high level dialogue with academics, subject matter experts, civil society actors and practitioners to present evidence, identify gaps and solutions to the crosscutting challenges posed by Air pollution in South South Nigeria. 2. To agree on a concise outcome document that will include a plan of action and an overall goal to reduce the 7million deaths per year due to air pollution. 3. Taking actions that will contribute significantly toward achieving the following Sustainable Development Goals: especially 3,7 ,11 and 13 through innovative community mobilization strategy. 4. To Propose ways for cross sector cooperation between health systems and other sector such as; environment, transport, energy, waste, political and economy to expand prevention of emissions sources that cause the air pollution-related diseases 5. To ensure all delegates including Member States, institutions, Non-State actors, communities etc launch voluntary commitments, new initiatives, financial support, partnerships and other actions to tackle air pollution . 6. To inaugurate zonal Executives and working groups, address all issues for ratification, review high level resolutions and unveil the plan of action for CSCSD South South from 2018-2028.
#ACT4SDGS TO BREATHE CLEAN AIR: EVERYWHERE, FOR EVERYONE. PROTECTING COMMUNITIES FROM AIR POLLUTION, ROLE OF CIVIL SOCIETY
Communities especially host communities to oil exploration and exploitation facilities have been directly impacted by air pollution for decades jeopardizing their human rights. This plenary looks at suggestions from Civil Actors across the 6 States as to how this challenge is being addressed as well as developing strategies for transitioning to healthier technologies and fuels and for ensuring that all grassroot and urban populations breathe air that meets the standards of WHO’s air quality guidelines. Also that scientific evidence will be translated into effective policies. It will also be an opportunity to give their State checklist reports 1. FROM AIR POLLUTION TO YOUTH REVOLUTION; AIR POLLUTION AND THE JEOPARDY OF YOUTH ADVANCEMENT IN SOUTHERN NIGERIA
Speakers: Dr Ohaka-AAI World Health Organization UNICEF UNITAR Mr Nature Dumale Kieghe The plenary will look at how youths can be part of the fight to mitigate air pollution and climate change. The place of artisanal refining, advancements in quality sensing technologies, health of youth at the growing stages with continuous exposure to air pollution. The place of youth led organizations in the fight against pollution. In -school activities for emerging sustainability leaders and importantly, leadership against climate action . In recent times the emergence of new technologies in general, and for atmospheric sensing in particular, has been much faster than could be comprehended, little alone utilized. sensors are inbuilt in mobile phones and travel on drones. exposure monitoring. What is the place of youth in utilizing ICT to addressing vulnerabilities posed by air pollution and also to get Government to have the political will to put an end to the menace of flaring, soot etc At the end we should know how to address this human induced phenomenon. Will world leaders stop listening to corporations and give space to the creativity of youth input? Engaging children and youths in the process of reducing the threats imposed by climate change is the key to creating a green generation who care about the environment. No more empty promises.

The task is to open a discourse that will highlight strategies to reduce death and diseases and poverty etc associated with air pollutants.How can we trigger sector policy change?
