JEWELRY DESIGN AND PHOTOGRAPHY
One of our featured Lakewood artists is Rick Scaletty. Rick has exhibited his underwater photography in the Argyle Gallery twice in the past and has participated in group shows also. It was interesting to discover that Rick also designs unique jewelry for sale on Etsy and Facebook.
Rick started making jewelry in college, but was interrupted by life, family, career, and his photography, which found him traveling and diving all over the world for colorful, detailed photos of sea life. Rick has made it a passion to show people the natural world and encourage them to become better stewards of our planet.
After retirement, on annual retreats to Arizona, Rick revived his love of jewerly design, using native stones, silver, and gold. In Arizona, he began to showcase his jewelry at an annual fundraiser for the Jewelry Arts. At home in Lee’s Summit, he held a show at the Blue Heron and sold his pieces at other local, jewelry arts shops. Rick prefers the rich Southwestern colors of turquoise for his jewelry and, of course, designs special pieces for his wife and for gifts. Rick and his wife, Kathy, have lived in Lakewood since 1985.
I envision my jewelry as an expression of our relationships with one another and our beautiful planet.

The Lee’s Summit Police Department offers a House Watch to be used when you are out of town. If you wish to be added to their House Watch List, please contact LSPD at 816-969-1700. Don’t forget to contact your LPOA Community Service Staff at 816-373-1500 so they can keep an extra eye on your property, as well.
Boat Trailer Rental Policy Update May 2022
Please be aware we have updated our boat trailer rental policy. Boat Trailers will now cost $25/day and Lakewood boat owners must provide an ID, proof of insurance, and proof of residency upon rental. (A driver’s license amd Lakewood ID, for example.) Please note that reservations must be made Monday through Friday between 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m., even if you plan to use the trailer on the weekend. We thank you for your cooperation.
