Businesses to Look out for in 2022
A first look at businesses that are crushing their business goals and showing us all how to make it happen! Sometimes the hardest part of business is just knowing where to start! See everything possible through the magic of a bold mindset and limitless creativity through these trailblazers.
Daijah Barnes
As a mother and businesswoman, life can get hectic. To make sure I'm receiving the care and devotion I need to help others, I created a routine. Some may see it as extreme, but I find it to be helpful and effective. At the end of the day, we each have to create the ideal environment where we can become our greatest selves.
M
ost days, I wake up one hour earlier than my children. During this time, I listen to music, meditate, and enjoy the peace and quiet. I repeat this same routine after my kids go to bed but give myself 1.5 hours. This Isn't so easy with my one-year-old, but I do the best that I can. Some people don't believe they need a personal development coach in order to become achieve greater outcomes in life, but they do. I always say, "The most successful people in the world need someone to provide them with a strategy to betterment." I didn't get to this stage in my career on my own. I had people in my field who motivated me to achieve more, to be better, to aspire for greater realities. I've been featured on national publications like USA Today, Essence, and BET because someone challenged me to think beyond my wildest dreams, and I aim to do the same with others. My line of work has the potential to alter someone's life for the better, and I take It seriously. We tend to aim low because we're afraid of failure, but you'd be surprised to know how many people are even more afraid of success. Personal development demands honesty about fears, shortcomings, goals, and your present situation. Love, Opportunity, Awareness, and Forgiveness (L.O.A.F.) are possible. It's time to create your loaf of bread for the soul with ingredients that won't fold.
Dr. Fayola Delicia
If you want to make lasting change, you need to get out of our comfort zone. Along with prioritizing your needs and desires, this is an essential component to achieving whatever you want in life. Regardless of your current situation, it’s never too late to become your best self.
O
ne thing I do to ensure success every day is spend time with God. Through prayer, worship, and Bible study, I commune with God and gain strength to get through the challenges of each day. By leaning on and trusting God aspirations become my reality, which empowers me to help others accomplish their goals. Above all else, I enjoy helping people to discover and understand their life’s purpose. Combining personal
experience and professional training, I provide coaching, counseling, and consulting services that help men and women reach and exceed their full potential in all areas—personal, professional, ministry, and nonprofit. Popular reasons for not making life changes include time, cost, and workplace stability. When time is the issue, I remind clients that we make time for the things we value, which usually puts selfcare on the backbur-
ner. Like time, we spend money on things we value, even if it’s temporary. Ask yourself, “how much do I spend on things that make me better?” Lastly, I remind those who are reluctant to leave their job, each day spent at their employer is another day they are using to manifest someone else’s dream. One client I’ll never forget is a single mother who was loyal to a job that no longer served her. She felt stuck and wanted more but had no idea what she wanted to do. After working with me, she gained the confidence to leave her employer and change careers. This client went from feeling uninspired to living with purpose and passion. She’s now a university professor writing a book and running her own business. My client has become the woman she’s always wanted to be—a leader, businesswoman, and role model for her daughter. When she contacted me, this client aspired to create a legacy. She knew it would be a journey, but she was ready to make the first step. Everything seems impossible until it’s done. It sounds cliché, but it’s true. We’re conditioned to resist change, even when it’s for our benefit. Breaking out of this cycle is the initial step towards making lasting changes. I encourage you to do one thing each day to help you become better. Despite your fears and excuses, force yourself step out of your comfort zone. I promise, you won’t regret it.
Aleeah Smith
Ask anyone who has their own business, and they’ll agree: entrepreneurship is a 24-hour business. So, if you want time for yourself, you’ll have to establish a routine and designate the “me time” you need to perform to the best of your abilities. Although you can, it’s hard to maximize your day without doing an activity that feeds your soul and mentally prepares you for the challenges you may face.
I
start my mornings with daily devotion and prayer. Thanking the man above for another day, my businesses, and my family helps put me in the right mindset. Then, it’s time to get to work. I check all point of contact and social media pages, responding to new clients and inquires. Then, I follow my calendar and complete any event/order consultations with Ah Taste of Love LLC and complete any client business/ financial sessions with Thee Money Queen LLC. Follow ups, relationship building, and constant communication with our clients ensures our success. The gap
that our products and services are filling in the community gives clients reassurance that no matter their budget, they deserve a well-planned and amazing event done with love. Our financial and business consulting sessions inform communities about personal and professional money management. This knowledge, which may be hard to come by, will positively impact the lives of clients and help them achieve their goals. Clients are always pleased and provide positive feedback after buying a product or service from our businesses. We provide unrivaled
customer experience with our exceptional service, compassion, and quality. Thankfully, we have garnered so many customer-success stories. Our most recent event we accomplished this past weekend in the deep south of Georgia. Approximately 3 ½ hours away from where we reside. We always strive for expansion and servicing many different areas no matter the distance. We assisted in planning, coordinating, and decorating a medium-sized wedding. Not only was the result stunning, but we received several inquiries from guests and other vendors who were in attendance. We networked with the caterer, photographer, and photo booth company. But the most exciting inquiry came from the venue events coordinator, who asked about our availability for upcoming events. It was such an honor to expand our network and generate business while at our own event. Your business doesn’t have to make millions, but it does have to make an impact. This is done by honoring your word and providing the best possible customer experience. I’m passionate about my businesses, which is why everything I do is done with love. You never know who will attend or what small jobs may lead to. Opportunities are everywhere, so stay ready. Keep plenty of business cards and make sure your website is user-friendly. Everything else will fall into place.
S
everal years ago, I saw an increasingly high demand for herbal and beauty products. This inspired me to create Kings Bundle Co., which focuses on direct-to-consumer distribution of multifunctional natural and beauty products. Herbal care focuses on healing from the inside out. Sea moss, known for its health-boosting and skin-enhancing properties, is my best-seller. It naturally contains 92 of the 102 minerals within the human body. Sea moss also helps enhance your immune system and provide long-term energy. Restoring and maintaining your physical health isn’t easy. Fortunately, my natural products promote the wellness you need to have a healthy mind and body. I drink a cup of fresh sea moss tea every morning. The most challenging problem for Kings Bundle Co. is providing products to customers who haven’t paid upfront. To effectively solve this problem, I implemented electronic-only methods of payment. Enforcing this policy resulted in a slight loss of clientele. Nevertheless, Kings Bundle Co. remains profitable

The Marines have a popular saying, “Everyone wants to go to heaven, but no one wants to die”. I've taken that same concept and applied it to business. We all want financial independence, but few of us are willing to put in the work required to attain it. and continues to expand. A longtime customer in California purchases three large jars of sea moss every two months. He’s also referred many customers to me. Nothing helps your business succeed more than repeat customers and referrals. Each customer has a different story, but they all choose to care for their bodies with my whole-
some and nutrient-rich products. Their desire to maintain wellness with nature renews my drive to find the highest quality products and provide exceptional customer service. The challenges of a business owner are plenty, but I’m passionate about educating our communities on the benefits of herbal care for a healthy mind and body.
Tammy Darmel Moore Founder and President of Footprints in Africa | How finding her why inspired massive impact
T
ammy Darmel Moore, Founder and President of Footprints in Africa, offers a rich history of over twenty years in Corporate America and is credited with helping enterprises flourish exponentially through her acute business acumen and strategy. Following her retirement from the corporate sector, Tammy wanted to do more to give back, and after lifechanging trip to Ethiopia, Footprints in Africa was born.
Footprints in Africa, a subsidiary of Chayil Enterprises LLC., is a 501 (c)(3) nonprot organization committed to aiding the people of Africa, who live in poverty-stricken communities with necessities to maintain a standard quality of life. We believe that a single action can make all the difference in the lives of others, and collective actions can greatly impact the world. Through advocacy and community outreach programs, projects, campaigns, and initiatives, we are committed to fostering support that brings about real change for the greater good of those in Africa. What keeps you going when things get tough in your business? It’s my WHY! It’s the knowing that I’m doing something way bigger than myself. It’s the knowledge that an organization that I founded could potentially change the lives of our brothers and sisters in Africa for generations to come. It’s the knowing that I’m equipping my African-American brothers and sisters by sharing facts and dispelling myths about the people, traditions, and culture of Africa. And in the midst of it all, it’s the knowing that I’m out here making my ancestors proud! What would you say to a business owner that is currently struggling? First off, know your why, why you started in the first place! And once you’ve identified your why, safeguard it, and don’t compromise because there will come a time when you will need to draw off it for self-encouragement and self-motivation. Which people or books have had the most inuence on your growth and why? Although I can take just about any book and learn something, I would have to say, hands down, the Bible has had the most inuence on my growth as a person because there’s a sense of accountability when you know better, you tend to do better, or at least you should.

Deonna Monique How to Make Millions on Instagram
D
eonna Monique started like most entrepreneurs, feeling unfulfilled while working a regular job. She had many ideas for a business, but never focused on developing one specific product. That all changed when she started posting hair videos on YouTube.
“
I believed my goals would manifest themselves and be larger than I ever imagined.
“
“I made videos wearing hair extensions, and the very first video I posted on YouTube got 30,000 views overnight,” Monique explains. “I was like, ‘Oh my God. This is it.’ I wasn’t promoting my own product, but that video gave me a glimpse of how impactful my brand could be. One week later, I quit my job and started Boho Exotic Studio. I believed my goals would manifest themselves and be larger than I ever imagined.” This year, Deonna spilled the tea on how she launched her successful hair company and once made nearly $1 million in just a single day. In a recently released Masterclass turned master course partnered with Dr. Pasha Carter, Deonna discussed her vendors, brand strategy, influencer marketing secrets, and more. As she makes the shift to ministry, Deonna’s goal in business now is to deliver the method to the madness so all aspiring entrepreneurs can create their own legacy brands. “Everyone will ask and I will share everything that I know…but who will actually take action?” was Deonna’s school of thought in creating this course. Make BIG Money On Instagram Without A Big Following complied 10 lesson units that tackle the biggest questions behind Deonna’s success including how to successfully contact celebrities to wear and advertise a small business product. In this master course, Deonna describes the experience as difficult, cumbersome, and in the end, “there was little to no return”. Regardless, Deonna’s products have been seen on celebrities such as Angela Basset and Normani. What is the best practice for influencer marketing? The real winner in influencer marketing are micro-influencers. Micro-influencers care much more about their audience. If you’re a small influencer in beauty, I know you’re going to get done up and show off the product in a great outfit, with great makeup, in amazing lighting and tag or talk about the product – and their audience will care. Their audience is small, but it’s concentrated because there’s trust. I care about having that trust because I know that creator will put in as much effort as I do in my branding, my signatures, my packaging. It’s a mutual respect. What is the most important thing a product-based service can do? Whether you’re white labeling or making custom, you must be serious about your brand. You must think about how you’re packaging things and the experience that the
customer will have. Will they receive something produced by a white label, in a plastic bag, with a receipt? Or will they receive a product in a box with branded tape that they can’t stand to rip, with tissue inside and a sticker. That experience will keep them coming for more. I don’t invest in a lot in my business, but the one major expense I have is my branding materials, and I will be more than happy to share my vendors. What lessons have you learned from your journey? My journey has been incredible. But I’m just a girl from Dallas who trusted God and believed in her vision. I went from being homeless to making $60,000 at a major company to running a successful business as a single mom. Through it all, I had faith in God’s plan for my life, and allowed Him to open doors for me. In addition to Boho Exotic Studio, I created Spirit Led, an online ministry, and wrote two books: Under the Influence: Guide to Getting Celebs in Your Product, and Super Powers: A Saved Entrepreneur’s Manual, to help like-minded entrepreneurs see God as their boss, and teach them to trust Him with their businesses. My goal in life is to share what I’ve learned with aspiring entrepreneurs and help to make their dreams a reality. I truly believe that with God, all things are possible. Deonna Monique manifested her dreams and so can you. If you love Deonna as much as we do, follow her at Twitter or Instagram @deonnamonique, or visit bohoexoticstudio. com to purchase products.

Six T Figures in Six Months
he swift change from college student to graduate is an overwhelming transition, and it’s even more overwhelming with a world pandemic. I come from simple people, I was the legacy, first in college child, meant to land that corporate career and take off. That corporate job was meant to be anything that came salaried with benefits. It represented security and stability, but it also represented a new relationship with a version of myself that couldn’t have the freedoms I wanted and the values I stand by. I began freelancing straight out of college in local non-profits working my way from creative, to Project Manager, to Director of Operations. I had the goal to become a producer in film and animation and a mission to do it on my own terms. My time was spent scheduling, planning, emailing, and budgeting - basic skills that anyone would have and I was paid an almost living wage stipend. No unpaid internship for me, even though it felt like one – animation as an industry is a labor of love but I had a degree and had to pay it off. Covid-19 not only began a chain of layoff and unemployment, but it also increased the number of virtual
“I had the goal to become a producer in film and animation and a mission to do it on my own terms.”
offices, new virtual businesses, and a demand for virtual support staff. I spent hours upon hours of my time watching others build their businesses as online service providers and I fantasized about the life that could be mine. I was already broke and unemployed. I never had health insurance growing up and job security was nonexistent in my very immigrant, heart-and-soul centered, family…so what did I have to lose? My experience and business growth are not special, and I want to mention that fact because there is absolute certainty that anyone else can create the business they want just as I did. Never in my life did I expect to grow in the way that I did and see the numbers that I have in my bank account. Again, I come from simple people, my work is first and foremost always a labor of love. As a Director of Operations in a non-profit that barely paid me a stipend to live - I showed up for the people, for the community, and for the cause. My history of excellence comes from the pride and grit I held onto to lead with curiosity and figure it out if I didn’t know the answer. In the non-profit world, if one project dies, the effect could eliminate countless jobs to recoup funds- I took that energy and brought it to my small business empire. My first and biggest mistake was not charging more for that value that I brought to my clients. They have handed me the baton and never looked back on their multi-six figure launches – because the relief and support I give is unmatched when I have the resources to thrive. The most shocking part of all of this is that I’m still completing work comparable to my work in non-profits – those skills are just at a heightened level as I gained more knowledge. Since I began my business in Fall of 2020, I’ve been accredited a few times over, and made the shift from Virtual Assistant to Project Manager to Director of Operations and Chief of Staff – full circle with a better pay. Now, it’s my mission to build generational legacies through small businesses with operational excellence and soul centered systems. In the past six months that I have really dialed in my gifts to the world, I have made over six figures in my pocket. Here are the mistakes and remedies I found along the way:
“anyone else can create the business they want just as I did”
Here are the mistakes and remedies I found along the way:
01
Get the Job Done, then Provide Excellence
A high paying client knows that a job done well and done right is worth the expense, but at first, I oversold the measurable outcomes I could accomplish. Virtual businesses are much different, the scope of work is different, and I hadn’t considered that when I started. I became really good at what I love to do, set reasonable expectations for deliverables, and then delivered with excellence.
02
Keep Curious
Leading with curiosity has been a game changer for myself and others when I am added to new projects, teams, and working environments. Curiosity opens the mind to understanding and working with what is there instead of forcing a familiar situation.
03
Establishing my Values
I make the mistake of not making my values clear to my first set of clients. Those relationships went sour very quickly from mixed expectations and irreconcilable differences. I value slow mornings, candor with my clients, and a work environment full of laughter. If I can’t laugh with you, I can’t do business with you.
04
Wasted money on courses
Most courses are built to tell, not to teach. If you invest in anything, invest on something accredited first. That’s courses with a certification, homework, and degree earning curriculum. They instantly boost your value because you can confidently make decisions sourced from methodology, data, and research. The knowledge gained should be something that can be implemented.
05
Never Settle
Even if a client is likely to return, don’t base your livelihood on words and promises. Until you see the money come through and the contract signed, keep looking for more people to work with and foster new relationships.
06
Profit First
Financial security IS putting yourself first, it is guaranteeing income for yourself and for your family. There is a lot of shame for NOT putting money back into your business, but business investments are like any other – you should be ready to lose it all by the time you choose to play the game.
