For the first time, we’ll be putting all three terms on sale at the same time, to ensure that our participants can plan their learning journey over a year. In here you’ll find all the courses that run each term. There are also details of Autumn’s short courses, half-term holiday courses and workshops linked to our Autumn programme of performances. many courses reduced

Whilst this brochure includes the term programmes for Spring and Summer 2014, we will be releasing further information on holiday and short courses for each term. Covering the early foundations of ballet technique and working to develop co-ordination, musicality and creative expression, the class will allow children to experience the first steps of ballet and will finish with a sharing for parents.

Capoeira for Children 6-12 yrs

With plenty of support and encouragement, take the opportunity to experiment with a wide range of 2D and 3D materials in a fun and friendly studio. You could choose to make a mosaic, clay lantern, or a decorative door plaque.

Capoeira is an exciting Brazilian art form comprising martial arts, dance and acrobatics practised to music. This course is a great opportunity to learn new skills and techniques. There will be an opportunity to take exams if appropriate.

Kathak North Indian Dance 8+

Concentrate on simpler forms of flamenco dance such as tangos, rumbas and fandangos.

Develop skill, ability and an understanding of this richly diverse North Indian dance style. Classes will look to create new dance pieces inspired by other cultural references.

Where this session is for Early Years (under 5s) at least one adult must be present for every two children. For family sessions where children are ages 6+, there must be at least one adult for every three children. Create a spooky short film in a day, in this intensive and fun session covering script, camera, lighting and performance.

Develop your basic technical and creative skills in iStop Motion animation. During this course you will produce a short animation, learn about voiceovers, frame rates, gain and understanding and appreciation of both image and clay based animation.

Take a magical journey of sound, light and performance down the River Rea and into Cannon Hill Park. A one-day course aimed at those with a liking for, or interest in, English Folk Song. The course will explore the genre’s roots, development, and the essential part it played in communities in this country in the past. The course is aimed primarily at those with little or no prior knowledge of this subject, but intermediate students will also find plenty to interest and entertain them. There will be the opportunity to hear rarely-played archival field-recordings and see archival film. There will also be time for questions and discussion. The focus will be on the historical, social and personal contexts of folk singing rather than its technical musical attributes. No musical ability is necessary, and no singing required!
