Course Details
UK2Learn offers an excellent choice of subjects to study in a dynamic and highly motivating learning environment.
The UK2Learn experience is about much more than just improving English skills, it is about students having a wonderful time during their stay in the UK and building lasting friendships.
As a unique feature, UK students also join the programme and whilst international students study English, they study a foreign language such as French, Italian, Russian and Thai to name but a few.
Over the years hundreds of international students, teachers and parents have joined UK2Learn and we look forward to making you one of them.
Students are divided into groups according to age and language ability. In the morning students will study English and British Culture and in the afternoon they will team up with UK students to study two of the following subjects: • • • • •

The Venue
The exclusive host of the UK2Learn Summer programme is Prior’s Field School in Godalming, Surrey. Prior’s Field is a traditional boarding school which boasts a wonderful family atmosphere and has excellent sporting facilities including a heated swimming pool.

Subjects
Celebratory Arts Students will design and make carnival costumes from recycled material to be showcased at the UK2Learn certificate ceremony.
Art & Photography Focusing on images, colours, light, reflection and different materials students are encouraged to explore the vast array of features a digital camera holds. Students will create individual scrap books detailing their exploration.
Dance A new course at UK2Learn where students will cover the basic skills needed to perform authentic hip-hop moves and also be given the chance to choreograph their own dance routine which they will perform at the certificate ceremony.
Business and Marketing Perfect for students wishing to gain a glimpse into the ever changing and dynamic world of business. By interacting, using role play games and then completing a marketing project, students will really develop a grasp of business vocabulary.
Drama Learning the fundamentals of drama combined with practicing performance techniques used to increase confidence are all covered on this course and showcased in a play written, directed and acted by students at the certificate ceremony.

Jewellery Design English as a Foreign Language (EFL) and British Culture Understanding the social and cultural aspects of British life and learning about past an present traditions is a new and innovative way to learn English with the main focus of the lessons being about improving speaking and listening skills.
A beginners guide to jewellery making that involves learning all about ancient techniques and using current methods to design and make a piece of jewellery students can take home.
Poetry & Creative Writing A chance for students to discover poetry and creative writing through a dynamic and supportive English environment which gives the necessary skills and confidence to continue writing in future.
Public Speaking Film-Making & Animation Students will explore how to write, design and edit film using professional equipment and expert guidance to produce a short animated film, which will premiere at the certificate ceremony.
This course is aimed at giving confidence and composure to students when they speak in public.
Singing Students with a passion for singing will really enjoy singing with the emphasis being on having fun.This class aims to boost confidence by singing songs of different styles and traditions in preparation for a performance at the final certificate ceremony. +44(0)1483 425500

Summer 2011 Excursion Programme There will be three full day excursions and four half day excursions during the two week programme and a further two full day trips and two half day trips on our 3 week programme.
Arundel Castle - set in 40 acres of sweeping grounds and gardens, Arundel Castle is one of the great treasure houses of England.You have the chance to see paintings and furniture, tapestries and stained glass, china and clocks, sculpture and carving, heraldry and armour in stunning room settings, a fantastic day for those that love history and the arts.
Brighton - the bustling Seaside City of Brighton has so much to offer! There are numerous individual shops you won’t find anywhere else in the world and they are all hidden down the mysterious and windy Lanes.You can walk the planks of Brighton Pier to discover the mini theme park 300m out to sea and if that’s not your thing you can walk along the famous pebbly beach sampling traditional fish & chips.

Chessington World of Adventures - there’s nothing like a sense of wild adventure to really make you want to dig deeper and discover more. At Chessington World of Adventures, there are hundreds of amazing rides for all ages and if that isn’t your thing Chessington also has a fantastic zoo where explorers can learn about over 1,000 animals from all around the world!
Guildford - the historic town of Guildford is a fantastic place for a day out.You will have time to walk along the ancient river Wey with its beautiful canal boats, explore Guildford Castle and even see where Lewis Carol, the author of Alice in Wonderland once lived. There will also be plenty of time to visit the excellent shops in the town centre.

Hampton Court - the palace is best known as Henry VIII’s Royal Palace. King Henry seized it from Cardinal Wolsey and it has been extensively modified by various monarchs.You will be able to explore the kitchens, the King’s quarters and the magnificent gardens with its world famous maze.
London - there is so much to see and so much to do so we have included 3 excursions to London this year.The first excursion will involve a trip to Buckingham Palace to watch the Changing of the Guards, a visit to the amazing Science Museum and then a tour around the stadium of Chelsea football club.The second excursion gives students the chance to catch a river boat down the Thames and watch a fantastic London musical such as the War Horse,The Lion King, Oliver or Grease and the final trip to London includes a guided coach tour around some of the major sites and a flight on the London Eye or a visit to London’s only film and cinema museum, the Movieum.

Oxford & Stratford-Upon-Avon - the university city of Oxford is known as the ‘city of dreaming spires’ and is home to incredible architecture dating back to medieval times. Students visit Christ Church College where the world’s smallest cathedral is set and also the film, Harry Potter is filmed. Students will then travel to Stratford-Upon-Avon which is the birth place of William Shakespeare. Stratford is set in the beautiful and rural Warwickshire countryside, on the banks of the river Avon, it is one of the most important tourist destinations in the UK.
Windsor - Windsor Castle is one of the official residencies of the Royal family and one of the largest inhabited castles in the world dating back to William the Conqueror. The famous miniature Queen Mary Dolls House is held within the Castle and there are also plenty of unique shops for you to explore on the nearby Windsor high street.

Student Life
Sport’s Programme
The quality of student life is why so many people choose UK2Learn. It is an exciting, challenging, dynamic and safe environment for students to have a great time whilst learning English. Students are kept busy from morning until night! Accommodation Boys and girls are accommodated separately in single, double or 4 bedded rooms within the main school building whilst parents are accommodated in a separate area in single en-suite rooms. A large communal area is available during free time where students are able to play games, pool, table tennis and practise English with their new friends. To ensure a safe and secure environment, fully qualified UK2Learn first aiders supervise the students 24 hours a day.
Prefer to stay with a host family? UK2Learn has a number of fantastic host families close to the school. Please contact us for further information. Meals Tasting new food is all part of visiting another country and UK2Learn provides a delicious breakfast, hot lunch, hot dinner and packed lunches during excursions. Making New Friends Joining a UK2Learn programme is a wonderful opportunity for students from different cultures and nationalities to meet and become friends.There is also the chance to mix with local British students that also attend the programme, this really is the perfect way to practise and improve your English.

Our sports and activities’ programme is designed to keep students busy and active. There is definitely something for everyone, from football, swimming, basketball and volleyball to badminton, rounders and tennis. Evening Programme The fun does not stop in the evenings as students are invited to enjoy a mix of entertainment and games including film nights, talent shows, art & craft workshops and discos, a perfect way to finish the day.
Grand Finale! All UK2Learn courses are designed to conclude with a grand presentation showcasing everything the students have learnt and achieved during their time on the programme. The grand finale is attended by local dignitaries, parents and all UK2Learn staff to mark the completion of the programme. Outstanding achievement awards and medals are presented to students who have demonstrated a high level of commitment and progress during their time on the programme. This celebration is not to be missed!

Parents’ Programme If you are a parent who is keen to travel with your child to the UK, we have just the thing for you. The parents’ programme has an interesting, challenging and popular itinerary of activities which runs concurrently to the students’ programme.
There are a range of master classes and talks on subjects ranging from garden design to English cookery which will enhance language skills in a unique way. UK2Learn also offers parents conversation classes with an experienced teacher. Parents will also accompany their children during the excursion programme which takes in some of the most popular attractions in the UK.

Important Information Medical Cover Supervision of students is of paramount importance to us at UK2Learn. There is always a first aid trained member of staff supervising students 24 hours a day. In the event of a student becoming unwell during their stay with us, we will provide all necessary medical assistance. The majority of the health care system in the UK is free; however we strongly recommend that students arrive in the UK with valid health insurance for the full duration of their stay. Insurance UK2Learn has indemnity insurance and comprehensive travel insurance that covers all students in the event of an accident and we advise students take out personal insurance to cover any loss or damage to personal possessions.

Charity Support UK2Learn is proud to support the Kwasa Centre in South Africa. The Kwasa Centre is in an incredibly deprived area of South Africa and helps meet the needs of children infected or affected by HIV and AIDS. It provides a safe and secure environment for more than 200 children. Having lived in South Africa and Zimbabwe as a child, the Kwasa centre is very close to Suzie Mackie’s heart. More than £4,000 has been raised by UK2Learn in the past 4 years which has helped provide the centre with school equipment, bicycles for the children and the sponsorship of one child to attend school for a year.

Royal Connections HRH Prince Michael of Kent is patron of the Oxford Quality programme, which aims to help educational institutions in Russia provide better quality education in English.

UK Tour UK2Learn also offers an action packed UK tour which begins before the Summer programme starts, this is definitely a trip not to be missed! Students, parents and accompanying teachers will discover the best of Britain with an exciting 6 day tour taking in some of the most popular tourist attractions in England and Scotland. The itinerary this year is crammed with a wide selection of excursions and activities to suit everybody. If you like the hustle and bustle of the city or a more relaxed pace of life in picturesque countryside, UK2Learn has created a tour that contains it all. Here is a selection of just some of the highlights:
Durham & Edinburgh The next stop on the UK tour is to Durham where you will visit the magnificent Durham Cathedral before the tour moves onto the capital city of Scotland, Edinburgh. Here you will pass through the city streets and alleyways of this beautiful city that is steeped in history. If you are brave enough to attend the ghost tour you can learn of the great cities dark secrets from the past.
Robin Hood Discover the historic adventures of the legendary Robin Hood, Britain’s favourite outlaw. There is also plenty of time to walk around the historic city centre and do some shopping.

Stirling & Loch Lomond The tour moves out of Edinburgh through Stirling where you will visit one of Scotland’s finest castles before reaching Loch Lomond, the UK’s largest expanses of fresh water and an excellent opportunity for you to try and spot the Loch Ness monster!

Manchester & Liverpool
Chocolate Factory
Sporty students will love visiting our next stop as the tour enters Old Trafford, the home of Manchester United football club. There will also be plenty of time to visit the huge number of exclusive shops Manchester has to offer. Next up on the tour is Liverpool, known for its musical history it seems only apt that you follow in the footsteps of the most famous pop group ever, the Beatles You will join the ‘Magical Mystery Beatles Tour’.
The final leg of the trip will take you to the UK’s very own Charlie and the chocolate factory! Visit the Cadbury’s factory in Birmingham where you can see how chocolate is made, make your own chocolate and even taste all the different types as you travel around its extraordinary surroundings! Unfortunately that concludes the tour but don’t worry, it is now time to begin the action packed and exciting Summer 2011 programme!
