Designed to be used independently from the rest of the series, the Readers are ideal for young readers who are struggling and would benefit from extra practice. WHAT DOES THE LANGUAGE TREE READING SCHEME HAVE TO OFFER? How will this help with teaching and learning?

FEATURE

BENEFIT

Each Reader follows a consistent approach and format which meets the requirements of Language Arts syllabi across the Caribbean.

This step-by-step approach ensures that all of the important literacy skills are systematically developed through the series.

Flexible teaching approach

The Readers provide a large amount of support material suitable for individual teachers’ preferred method of teaching (for example, group or class teaching).

Incorporates a variety of reading strategies with a wide range of activities

The books have a strong emphasis on phonics, but also incorporate: phonic decoding, sight word recognition, use of context and picture clues, prediction and drawing on previous experience, to ensure that students have all the decoding and comprehension skills they need to become fluent readers.

Accompanying Workbooks

Practice and reinforce the required reading strategies. The Workbook activities can be used to introduce skills required to read the text; or they can be used for reinforcement after reading.

Notes for parents

Provide clear guidance on how the books can be used at home to support parents in reading to their child.

Detailed teaching notes

When used in conjunction with the teaching notes, the Language Tree Reading Scheme will equip teachers with the material and strategies they need to effectively teach children to read.
