Bebop is a 3-level preschool course that teaches English in a playful way. Through pairing music and movement with language practice, young learners gradually gain the confidence to communicate in English.

PRESCHOOL

Bebop

This course uses a multi-sensory approach to teach English language skills in a way that recognises different learning styles and engages more than one sense. Bebop adopts an innovative approach to Total Physical Response (TPR) activities, by introducing systems such as American Sign Language to support children in learning vocabulary in a highly kinaesthetic way.

• The Bebop Band characters bring language to life, engaging children in learning through stories and songs. • Early literacy concepts are introduced in a familiar way through storytelling and songs, presenting language in a meaningful context. • Children practise their skills collaboratively through videos, Story Songs, Action Songs and Interactive Flashcards. • Fun activities in the Bebop Band App and Parents’ Guide provide a way for parents to practise English with their child outside of the classroom. • A dynamic component mix including a Teacher’s Resource Center and comprehensive Teacher’s Edition Pack enables teachers to deliver lively and motivating lessons while considerably reducing preparation time.

Happy Kids

Happy Kids is a new six-level course created for primary school students. The series is based on The N.I.C.E. Approach to learning: Natural, Inclusive, Communicative, and Experience. Each unit includes a project that stimulates curiosity and investigation, with activities to develop and improve the students’ cognitive process. The primary purpose of the course as a whole is to transition students between describing the world we live in using new vocabulary and having experiences, redefining their reality, and exploring new points of view that enhance the students’ global perspective. The students’ experience with the language is broadened by looking at social-emotional, personal and interpersonal skills across the whole course. Their experience and learning is cultivated by transforming acquisition into competency.

• The Teacher’s Presentation Kit includes an electronic version of the Student’s Book as well as embedded audio for use in class. • Offers an inclusive teaching path that takes into account special educational needs (SEN) and specific learning disorders (SLD). • Develops basic proficiency in English. • In line with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. • ”Cool Kids Love Happy Kids”

Macmillan Writing Series is a 4-level course with step-bystep guidance and engaging practice exercises designed to teach young adult learners to write in English correctly and autonomously in an academic context. By offering training in a range of skills, including how to brainstorm ideas and arrange them, write long and short-form texts and share information, Macmillan Writing Series provides students with the tools they need to master academic writing. The course gradually develops students’ writing, from basic sentence construction through to writing full academic research papers.

• A systematic approach offers clarity to students, helping them to organise their learning and develop skills in a comprehensive way. • The end of each unit provides students with an opportunity to use the grammar and vocabulary, sentence and paragraph structures they have learnt in engaging writing tasks. • The thematic approach helps students to learn vocabulary and apply it to their writing. • The comprehensive Teacher’s Guide includes step-by-step notes and activities, a full answer-key and photocopiable peer review forms, as well as suggestions for extra learning activities. • Each Student’s Book contains an appendix, complete with a verb chart that highlights irregular past tense verb forms and participles for easy reference.

500 Activities for the Primary Classroom is an indispensable collection of practical activities and ideas for teaching English to primary-aged children. Carol Read’s award-winning resource for teachers of children aged 4-12 reflects over 20 years of working with young learners, turning the classroom experience into a book. It aims to develop an awareness of the complex factors involved in working effectively with classes of children and to lay a solid foundation in primary language teaching skills. • The book provides a fully comprehensive resource pack of activities for teaching primary children with minimal or no extra resources required, making them suitable for all students. • Carol Read offers clear methodological content to help teachers understand the approaches behind the activities. • Activities are grouped by type in easy to search sections, e.g. storytelling and drama, art and craft, reading. • The collection of activities will be useful for those who are new to teaching young learners, non-language specialists, as well as more experienced teachers. • Further advice, ideas and suggestions for additional reading are included to help teachers deepen their knowledge on the subject.

WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE

But his ‘honest’ friend Iago has other plans, for power and revenge. Iago works to set Othello against his lieutenant, Cassio. As Othello begins to lose trust in his wife and friends, Iago mixes lies with the truth to push Othello into mad jealousy. Will Othello realize the real truth before it’s too late?

COLEEN DEGNAN-VENESS

JENNIFER GASCOIGNE

Italy has a rich history of empires and great-thinkers, and has been a center for Western culture for thousands of years. Italian art, fashion and food are extremely popular in the rest of the world, and tourists love to visit the exciting cities and beautiful countryside. Italians are very proud of their country, and in this book we invite you to discover why.

As well as being a big country, Australia is home to some of the world’s biggest things: Uluru, the largest rock in the world; the Great Barrier Reef, the world’s largest coral reef system; and the saltwater crocodile, the world’s biggest reptile. Not content with naturally occurring things, the Australians have actually built a number of ‘Big Things’ themselves as tourist attractions, including the Big Banana, the Big Merino and, the biggest of all Australia’s Big Things, Larry the Lobster.

Copying According to the International Copyright Act of 1976, the law allows a reader to make a single copy of a part of a book for purposes of private study. It does not allow the copying of entire books or the making of multiple copies of extracts. In some countries it is possible for schools to do a limited amount of photocopying under the terms of a licence issued by a licensing agency such as the Copyright Licensing Agency (CLA) in the UK. The other circumstances in which photocopying of copyright material is permitted is when the publisher has designated a book or part of a book ‘photocopiable’. This special permission is always indicated clearly in the book both at the front and on every photocopiable page. Many of the Teacher’s Books that accompany Macmillan courses contain such ‘photocopiable’ material. Under no circumstances may schools photocopy materials for use in self-access centers, unless they have registered with the Copyright Licensing Agency or an associated licensing agency and allow/use photocopying strictly in accordance with their regulations.

If a school wishes to have multiple copies of a part of a book in a self-access center then it must purchase the necessary number of printed books. There is no formal objection to schools physically cutting printed texts into parts and re-assembling them in any way that seems appropriate, providing the books or parts of books are not then resold. It is not, however, a practice we would recommend. In the case of audio recordings, it is permissible for a school to make a copy of an audio tape or CD, keeping the original as back-up. Only one copy may exist at any one time. A school may copy different parts of an original audio tape or CD onto several cassettes, providing that no part of the original exists in more than one copy at any one time. Therefore, if a school wishes to have three copies of one part of an audio tape or CD, it must have three originals. No copying, single or multiple, of video cassettes is permitted.
