1 The best food I’ve ever eaten was in Asia. It was some meat, rice and vegetables.

It was so good that I had two portions of it. But it wasn’t for everyone – it honestly made me cry and I had to drink three glasses of water afterwards.

2 The food I usually make when my friends come round for dinner is full

of vegetables. There is no meat because most of my friends don’t eat it. And the spices that I use are very good for your stomach.

At school, I usually eat a packed lunch, which my mum makes for me in the morning. I don’t like meat, so I usually have a 1 c (6) sandwich. I also never eat any fast food, like hamburgers or 2 c (6). They are really horrible! In my family, we always have dinner together. My mum always cooks something when she gets back from work. We usually have some fish or meat, most often 3 c (7), potatoes and some salad with olive oil and vegetables – broccoli for example. Sometimes, we have a fruit dessert, too. Yesterday, for example, we had 4 s (12) with yoghurt. For supper, I always have a light snack. I love fruit and vegetables so I often eat an 5 a (5) or some 6 t (8). Breakfast is the most important meal, and I usually have some 7 c (6) with milk or a sandwich on brown 8 b (5). At the weekend, my family eats breakfast together. We often have some eggs or sausages and drink 9 o (6) juice. Only my dad prefers coffee.

The food was really great! It was tasty, but also healthy. I even tried fish and broccoli! Pam’s mum isn’t as bad a cook as I thought she would be, and the pasta she made was surprisingly good. Well, the whole party was really cool so I hope it wasn’t the last time that I got invited there. Jack

Prepare a dialogue between you and Will.

Step 1 First, choose a film you want to see.

The Academy Awards, or the Oscars, are the most famous film industry awards in the English-speaking world. They are given to people who work in the film industry, such as actors, directors and writers, and the winners receive a gold statue. Every year this award ceremony is held in late February or early March in Hollywood, in the USA. The British equivalent of the Oscars is the British Academy of Film and Television Arts Awards, or BAFTAs. Winners of the British award win a gold theatrical mask. In 2009, the British film Slumdog Millionaire won eight Oscars including Best Picture and Best Director. It also won seven BAFTAs. Slumdog Millionaire is about an 18-year-old finalist on the Indian version of the popular TV quiz show Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?

Too much TV and not enough sleep? Do your parents say you watch too much TV? Do they think you always watch cartoons and reality shows? A new report says that young people often watch just 1.5 hours of TV a day but their parents usually watch twice as much. This report also says that young people don’t watch many DVDs on their TVs. This generation prefers computers, so do young people often watch TV online? No, they don’t. They sometimes watch DVDs on their computer but only for about two hours a week. Does this mean that teenagers go outside and do lots of sport? Unfortunately, no. The computer is now a replacement for the TV and a lot of teenagers spend their time on their computers: they surf the Internet, play video games and download music. More than 50 per cent of 12–14 year-olds have got a computer in their room and they don’t get enough sleep because of it. 1 The best food I’ve ever eaten was in Asia. It was some meat, rice and vegetables.

It was so good that I had two portions of it. But it wasn’t for everyone – it honestly made me cry and I had to drink three glasses of water afterwards.

2 The food I usually make when my friends come round for dinner is full

of vegetables. There is no meat because most of my friends don’t eat it. And the spices that I use are very good for your stomach.

At school, I usually eat a packed lunch, which my mum makes for me in the morning. I don’t like meat, so I usually have a 1 c (6) sandwich. I also never eat any fast food, like hamburgers or 2 c (6). They are really horrible! In my family, we always have dinner together. My mum always cooks something when she gets back from work. We usually have some fish or meat, most often 3 c (7), potatoes and some salad with olive oil and vegetables – broccoli for example. Sometimes, we have a fruit dessert, too. Yesterday, for example, we had 4 s (12) with yoghurt. For supper, I always have a light snack. I love fruit and vegetables so I often eat an 5 a (5) or some 6 t (8). Breakfast is the most important meal, and I usually have some 7 c (6) with milk or a sandwich on brown 8 b (5). At the weekend, my family eats breakfast together. We often have some eggs or sausages and drink 9 o (6) juice. Only my dad prefers coffee.

The food was really great! It was tasty, but also healthy. I even tried fish and broccoli! Pam’s mum isn’t as bad a cook as I thought she would be, and the pasta she made was surprisingly good. Well, the whole party was really cool so I hope it wasn’t the last time that I got invited there. Jack
