Six climbers were trapped in their tent under the snow yesterday when an ava lanche came down Mount Blanc. The people were preparing to climb the mountain the next morning. They had food and equipm ent, and their tent had some special protect ion, so there is a large chance that they are still alive and don’t have any serious inju ries. A rescue team with a sniffer dog was sent to the location of the disaster, but it was difficult to get there, because the snow blocked the way.

A powerful earthquake ca used a lot of damage in the city of Tripoli in so uthern Greece. Some of the buildings located near the centre of the quake were completely destroy ed. The people living there died or were trapp ed under the rubble. They were sleeping when the tremors started, so they didn’t have enough time to escape. A large number of people are se riously injured and need immediate help from do ctors and nurses. There are also problems with food, water and shelter for the victims, that’s wh y other countries started sending supplies to Gree ce. C
Ten people w ere injured af ter a tornado suddenly struck in the north-w estern part of Poland and devastated abo ut 100 houses and a large par t of a forest. Th e people who survived the dis aster say that th ey even saw a car which was flying with pas sengers inside, but fortunately nobody was h urt after it landed. Strong winds damaged power lines and most of th e houses have no electricity. The fallen tree s still block rail ways in many places, so the tr ains cannot ente r or leave the devastated area .
