Answers Marek Hello. My name’s Marek. What’s your name? Maria Maria. Marek How do you spell that? Maria M.A.R.I.A. Marek Where are you from Maria? Maria I come from Brazil. Marek I’m from Poland. How old are you? Maria I’m twelve.
Instructions 1 Divide your class into pairs and give each pair a copy of the activity. 2 Explain to your class that the dialogue between Marek and Maria has had some letters removed. These letters are at the top of the sheet. 3 Students must put the letters into the conversation. Each letter can be used once only. There are two letters that are not used in the dialogue. 4 The first pair to correctly complete the conversation and identify which letters are not used is the winner.
Marek I’m eleven. When’s your birthday? Maria In January. What’s that? Marek My lunch. It’s a pizza. Would you like some? Maria Is it hot? Marek No, sorry, it’s cold. Would you like some? Maria Yes please. I’m hungry. Marek Here you are. Maria Thank you. What’s your favourite food? Marek Ice cream. Maria Me too. Well, goodbye Marek. Marek See you later, Maria. The letters q and x are not used. When you review the answers, point out (or elicit) that the letters m, h, i and w in the conversation need to be changed to capitals because they are used to begin sentences, and j needs to be changed to a capital letter because months begin with capitals.
