he key ingredients to a successful overnight adventure are a stunning and exciting destination, great company to share your adventure with and, of course, a well balanced set of gear to keep you comfortable no matter what mother nature throws at you. The first two ingredients are really up to you; some people prefer rugged mountain terrain, while others favour nicely laid out tracks. Do you go with your best mate, or do you take the whole family? A trip with colleagues perhaps? We can’t help you with these decisions, however, we do know a thing or two about the gear you need to take.

For a simple overnighter in relatively stable conditions, you can get away with a lightweight pack that’s not too big; you’ll be amazed what you can stow away in a 45 litre pack for example. It’s nice to try and minimise the weight you carry, that way you ensure that you can go a little bit further (or faster) while achieving maximum enjoyment. Make sure you check the weather forecast several times before your departure and pack accordingly. Always bring enough food to last you the night. We recommend Backcountry Cuisine as it’s light weight, easy to make and most of all, delicious! Of course you’ll need something to prepare your nourishing meal in, so don’t forget a gas stove, pots and utensils. Our range of lightweight, durable accessories are the perfect addition to your kit to help you enjoy your al-fresco meal at the end of a hard day. As the day draws to a close, you will need a light source to manoeuvre around the camp. The Spark head torch is a great option with three lighting modes and a 31 hour battery life if you keep it on low. Rest your limbs on our Insulated Air Core mat filled with PrimaLoft® Eco insulation to reduce heat-loss through surface contact. Your choice of sleeping bag will be based on personal preference. Are you planning to head out over summer only (Escapade range) or do you intend to hit some wintery spells too (Sanctuary range)? Do you feel the cold quickly or are you one of those lucky people that seem to stay warm no matter what? Do you want to have a really compact lightweight sleeping bag (Express range), or are you happy to carry a little bit more for additional space and comfort (Latitude range)? If a compact and lightweight shelter for the night will do, the Microlight tent is an excellent choice; a one-person tent that is easy to set up (single pole) and features our renowned silicone coated UV30 SI fly fabric.
