Mt. Shasta Summit Century August 3, 2014

More on the new E.D. Fondly referred to by many as “Big Jim,” Jim Mullins brings a personable warmth and emphasis on relationship building and addressing the needs of our members.

The jersey and shirt designs will be released soon and in nearly one month riders from all over the world (yes, the world!) will be converging on Mt. Shasta for the Summit Century Bike Ride. The Summit Century routes are set in a challenging alpine environment. As you pedal through some of the most breathtaking scenery you’ve ever seen and pedal up some of the most relentless climbs you’ve ever ridden — keep in mind our cloverleaf route layout lets you push yourself farther than you ever expected.

Thank you for your patience while the Board followed a three phase vetting process involving full board paper review, interviews and in-person candidate presentations. This eight-week process was intentional and paced, by design, to ensure that the over twenty national and regional applicants were fairly reviewed and had a positive and professional experience interacting with the Chamber.

There is still plenty of time to register and a ride for nearly all abilities. They offer a Half-Metric ride (30 miles); a Metric Ride (59 miles); the Summit Century (100 miles); and a Super Century (138 miles). Early registration ends July 19th; late registration is available from July 20th through the day of the event.

New Executive Director is named

The Board of Directors for the Mount Shasta Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce that local candidate Jim Mullins has accepted the position of Executive Director. In this position, Mullins will serve the vision of the Board and oversee the Chamber’s Membership Services organization as well as the Mt. Shasta Visitor’s Bureau operations. “Jim’s extensive experience with staff development and management, regional marketing and sales as well as successful community events comes with a proven track record,” said Brett Waite, current Mount Shasta Chamber of Commerce President. “We are confident in his ability to serve, benefit and expand the Chamber Membership as well as contribute to Mount Shasta area’s overall economic growth.” The Mt. Shasta area, and to greater extent all of south Siskiyou County, is poised and ready to solidify our existing business base while at the same time seeking out opportunities that our economy presents. Jim Mullins will play a vital role in this pivotal moment in our community’s evolution. While we are excited about welcoming Jim Mullins, we must also pay tribute to Marie-Josée Wells who has had the vision to position our Chamber in a leading role for our area. We wish her great success in her new endeavor at Great Northern Services. Marie was the face of the Chamber for the past 8 plus years. She successfully implemented many creative programs to the betterment of the local business community and the overall success of the Chamber as an organization. We look forward to continuing our mission to serve our membership by p romoting a strong local economy, advocating business interests and supporting t ourism.
