MAKE IT! Corner
Weʼre all getting into the pirate way of things around here.
Pirate Ship You will need:
2 pieces of black cardboard, 3 lollypop sticks, glue or cellotape, scissors and things to decorate your boat with.
Instructions: 1. 2. 3.
Ask an adult to cut out the shapes shown below from your black cardboard Stick the lollypops onto the cardboard as shown below Now the fun bit… decorate with lots of sparkles and paint.
How to talk like a pirate
To be a pirate, you need to be able to talk the talk! Hereʼs some tips and phrases on how to trick everyone into thinking youʼre a real pirate… 1.
Say “arrrrr!” after everything you say

“Shiver me timbers!” means youʼre surprised or scared, you could say “Shiver me timbers! My parrot just bit me”

Instead of saying “whatʼs up?” shout “Avast, me matey?”
Donʼt say hello, instead say “Ahoy, me hearty!” which just means “Hi, my friend” but sounds much more piratey!
Sing “yo, ho, ho” whenever you can.

Tasty Easter Bonnets What you need:
Digestive or rich tea biscuits Icing sugar Marshmallows Cake decorations
What to do:
Stick a marshmallow on the centre of each biscuit using a blob of icing.
Use more icing to decorate the bonnets, and to stick cake decorations over the marshmallow and biscuit.
Easter Bunny Eggs What you need:
Food colouring Hard boiled eggs Coloured paper Glue Google eyes Marker pen Cotton ball
What to do:
Use food colouring dye or natural dyes to dye eggs in solid colours.
For each bunny egg, cut two oval shaped ears from coloured paper. Glue the ears to the top of the egg.

Glue on the google eyes, cotton ball for a tail and use a pen to draw on a nose and whiskers.

Did you knowâ&#x20AC;Ś?
A Pirate is someone who steals from the sea. The pirate flag which has the skull and cross bones on it is called the Jolly Roger flag. Pirates believed that wearing earrings would help their eyesight. It is said that the pirate William Kidd buried one hundred thousand pounds worth of treasure and to this day no one knows where it is. Pirates ate biscuits and dried meat on their ships. Blackbeard is a famous pirate, his real name was Edward Teach.

We Built This City Polyglot Puppet Theatre present
A public construction extravaganza. Using nothing but thousands of big cardboard boxes and the energy and ingenuity of kids and families, we build a magnificent city in one day.
Imagine a public arena filled with hundreds of cardboard boxes. Then invite kids and families to come in and build their own city. You can try to build anything you can think of, as tall or as wide as you like. Wandering around the new city are construction experts to help or provide some advice for your creation if needed. Bop along to the sound of the city with DJs or live bands playing your favourite groovy tunes. Throughout the day, buildings will go up, be pulled down, be redesigned, extended, walked through and jumped on, and reconstructed.
At the end of the day, everybody can have fun knocking down and squashing the whole city into a recyclable heap of cardboard rubble. We Built This City takes over any public space and is as much fun to watch as it is to do.
