macrobert is a place where people of all ages can take part in creative activities. We run a huge variety of classes, workshops, creative events and performance opportunities in drama, dance, film, art and literature throughout the year. Our creative activities will give you the chance to work with some of Scotland’s greatest artists, spark your imagination and give you time to create, play, imagine, dream, take risks, have fun and be inspired! BOOKING & INFORMATION All prices are for a 10 week term* To book please contact our Box Office at 01786 466666 or book in person at macrobert. Under 18s information All under 18s must have a signed core consent form from parents or guardians. It is suggested that parents/ guardians attend the start of the first session in order to sign the form. Alternatively the form can be completed at home and returned on the first session. Friends discount With our macrobert friends discount you can receive 10% off the price of our classes and projects. Ask our Box Office for more information and to apply. Cancellations All details are correct at the time of going to print. If classes are for any reason cancelled, macrobert will endeavour to be in touch with you prior to the class beginning. Subsidised Places There are a select number of subsidised places for those who may find it difficult to afford the full cost. Parents and toddlers come along to this energetic, fun class which develops movement skills using imagery, music and props. We will take you on a journey to discover your imagination! Led by macrobert’s Dance Artist Laura Smith.

A pre-school class which encourages learning without parents in a creative, playful way. Using games, storytelling and music, the class will build movement skills and confidence in a lively, exciting burst of fun! Led by macrobert’s Dance Artist Laura Smith.

An exciting drama group for children aged 3–5 years, which encourages children to explore their creative side through drama and play. Led by Frozen Charlotte Theatre Company.

Come and join us and get the chance to learn some new funky moves, be creative and make new dance pieces. These classes introduce a number of dance styles including street dance, hip hop and contemporary. Led by macrobert’s Dance Artist Laura Smith and visiting hip hop and street dance artists. DRAMA

macrobert Youth Dance Company are an innovative group of young dancers who create new dance pieces, collaborate with other dance companies and perform in venues across Scotland. Led by macrobert’s Dance Artist Laura Smith.

Our drama classes for older young people further their own creativity and imagination by developing skills and approaches in performing and theatre making. MACROBERT FILM CREW (S1–6) WED 16.30–18.30 | £80

Great for those starting out in film-making, wanting to perfect their practical knowledge and understanding behind the camera or practice the basics of editing, this class will be looking at film making from the creation of an idea right through to the final edit. Led by macrobert’s Film Artist Grahame Reid.

MACROBERT FILM FX TEAM (S1–6) WED 19.00–21.00 | £80

For those who have perfected the basics and are looking to add a little more spice to their films, this class will look more closely at film making and effects editing, creating videos and animations and introducing effects programs such as Adobe After Effects. Led by macrobert’s Film Artist Grahame Reid.

DANCE 60+

Our older dance class is a class for anyone age 60+. No experience necessary! The emphasis is on fun while learning new routines. Led by macrobert’s Dance Artist Laura Smith.

BOOK GROUP NEW GROUP!

Meeting monthly, macrobert’s new book is run in partnership with the University of Stirling Department of English Studies. Each month the group will explore, discuss and engage with a chosen book they have read that month. The group will also benefit from a new programme of author events planned throughout the year. Starting in February 2012, the group will meet on Monday evenings. Please contact Helen Doherty to note interest in joining the group at helen.doherty@macrobert.org

TAKE PART — MORE! PERFORMANCE WRITING Are you interested in writing for the stage? If so, we are looking to set up a new young writers group that will look at creating new scripts for performance. The group would be led by experienced professionals who would guide and mentor you as you develop your writing practice.

BOYS DO DANCE Some of the most ground breaking dancers of this generation have been male. We are looking to set up an all new dance group for boys age 12+. The group will be lead by an experienced Dance Artist, teaching dance techniques and approaches that will build skill and confidence. PERFORMANCE OPPORTUNITIES & EVENTS U.DANCE 2012: SCOTTISH PLATFORM EVENT SAT 25 FEB

U.Dance 2012 is a fantastic youth dance event taking place at Southbank Centre London in July, as part of the 2012 Olympics. macrobert is delighted to be hosting the U.Dance Scottish Platform event on Saturday 25 February, where twelve youth dance groups will perform for a panel of judges for the chance to be part of U.Dance 2012 and perform at the Southbank in London.

PICK’N’MIX PERFORMANCE WEEKEND SAT 31 MAR – SUN 1 APR

An explosive weekend of scratches and sketches presented by macrobert’s young people, fused with professional performances including dance with iam from the Errol White Company and the multi-award winning White from Catherine Wheels, as well as our own Family Funday event on Sunday.

GET STIRLING DANCING DATES THROUGHOUT 2012

Creative Scotland has launched the Get Scotland Dancing programme to encourage more people to get active and participate in dance. macrobert will lead the Stirling area’s Get Scotland Dancing programme throughout 2012-2014. Get Stirling Dancing will create a range of events and opportunities to get everyone in Stirling dancing. Look out for the Get Stirling Dancing brochure to hear about the events. NTS EXCHANGE MON 2 – SAT 7 JUL

In July 2012, macrobert will host the National Theatre of Scotland’s vibrant Exchange Festival. Bringing together groups of young theatre-makers (aged 16 to 25 years) from Scotland, New York and Ireland, to create and perform new and exciting pieces of theatre with the help and support of a professional creative team. A newly formed macrobert performance group will be creating a challenging, provocative and darkly entertaining piece of original theatre based on Schadenfreude – the pleasure we take at someone else’s misfortune. This will be premiered at National Theatre of Scotland’s Exchange Festival.

MUSICAL THEATRE SUMMER SCHOOL MON 9 – SAT 28 JULY

After the carnivorous success of Little Shop of Horrors, the macrobert 2012 Musical Theatre Summer School will be running again this summer. The 3-week project will culminate with a fully staged production on macrobert’s mainhouse stage. To note interest please contact Helen Doherty on helen.doherty@macrobert.org

BACKSTAGE PASS – TECHNICAL THEATRE SUMMER SCHOOL Backstage Pass returns after the success of our first technical summer school in 2011. This saw eight young people learn technical theatre skills, including set construction, sound, lighting and stage management and then applying these skills on a production on macrobert’s mainhouse stage. MACROBERT FAMILY FUNDAYS

Family Fundays are a new regular feature in the macrobert events calendar. The Family Fundays will have something for everyone and provide an opportunity for you and your family to have fun and explore your creative side in our family friendly arts venue. Choose from a pick and mix of creative activities, including interactive storytelling performances, drop in dance, drama, film and arts workshops, creative quizzes and more.
